  • Nice fish why did u through it back u could of had some good dinner how deep was the water there

  • R u nuts don't throw it back

  • Eat it!

  • Ciao.

  • wow :)

  • very cool

  • Nice catch from shore. Esp in Europe. On fly. Released too. Well done. Good fishing. Not sure about pulling its face off with the Boga, but a hell of a lot better handling than most fishing vids on YT. Good for you.

  • nice

  • Dorado from shore?! damn

  • i got 1 from the jetty within the city limits of barcelona it wasn't as big but i can tell u that there r alot of hours of casting metal before u trick 1 into biting. they like deep water. in san diego it can be done but at the end of the day u better expect have a quiet place to rest. getting skunked z the norm. mac imitations a 4inch grub in white dragged at full tilt will get their interest. full blast z why it's such good exercise. when u get 1 you'll know why it's worth the effort

  • :) good job

  • What's the name of the song in the background to the video?

  • Satisfaction guaranteed

  • Whose is this song?

  • great video,, i may be going to ibiza and even st tropez,, is there much to catch on a fly rod around there?

  • Everyone knows you only catch crabs in Ibiza!

Seriously though, there's lots of good stuff to catch, you can also catch AIDS, herpes, thrush, gonorrhea, syphilis, warts, scabies, hepatitis, necrotizing fasciitis...and you can do it easily on whatever tackle you use down there. Lol.

  • congratulations and thanks for release it!!! I'm starting in saltwater fly fishing, I hope to catch one like this

  • nice vid mate, im going to rhodes greece in june + im hoping to catch some nice size fish like the one in this vid, have you ever fished in rhodes?? is you have, have you got any tip's for me ??

  • Not been threre but I'm sure it can be a good place. Dolphifish need deep water and have a season starting with smaller fish somewhere in late summer and ending with the larger in november or december depending on the weather.

With some luck, earlier in the summer it's possible to encounter some of the rare large adult specimen weighting up to 25 kg!

In June from the shore you can have better chances for barracuda or bluefish and bass, of course.

    Tight lines!

  • thanks, what strength line do you think i will need? ive got 12lb Ultima Seastrike XT All Purpose Beach and Boat Line, do you think that is strong enough for the sort of size fish i mite catch?? i ask because ive never fished in the med or off the rock's so i dont know what to expect...

  • Yes 12 lbs can do well. Usually 0.25 and 0.30 mm nylon mono cover most situations.

  • Using the net from that cliff to release such fish is by far more dangerous for the fish. You need to do it as quick as possible, period. This single fish had to wait a little longer, for filming. You will understand that catching such fish from such position it's a risk for the fish but I'm a fisherman not a fish-watcher. Releasing with some risk is better than killing all the catches like everybody use to do. Nobody seems to care about the killed ones, only about the realeased ones.

  • you throw it off the rock?... that is dumb man, put in a net and place it back... no point of release it when it head might crack open and die. Good fish but you need to take care how to handle it, so you might get it again in the future

  • Ciao, grande cattura...

Can I contact you when I'm in Tuscany? In quale periodo dell'anno possiamo insidiarle?

    let me know!

  • Of course you can.

The season start is september to december.

  • Congratulations Medflyfish - a beautiful fish from an awkward position! Out of interest, what fly did you catch it on?

    Cheers - P

  • Hello. I can't remember about that particular fish but I had success with various flies. Top producers were #1/0 Puglisi style in white/grey and small #4 candies. Topwater that are very good for dolphinfish had fish attention but by far less positive strikes.

  • What weight rod? I've got a 10Wt. Should be about right. Could probably use an 8wt at a push.

    Shooting head?

  • Great catch!

You just need to work on your "releasing-skill"!

  • You're right. Usually I release by far better than shown in this clip.

    Thanks for your comment.

  • dolphin r some of the fastest growing and reproducing fish out there, EAT THAT FUCKING THING! as long as u don't waste any You earned it. awesome video except for throwing it back.

  • Ok... different comments ... one against damaging one for killing. What I do is to kill the fish I want to eat (fresh, not frozen) and release all the rest as safe as possible. The released ones are better for filming... :-)

  • Great fishing but you should really learn to handle fish with a bit more respect, and did you know throwing fish back like that damages scales and can cause internal bleeding which can kill them later.

  • I did my best being alone on that cliff 3 mt above the water level to release the fish as quickly as possible

I always try to release undamaged fish

I'm sure I will do it better the next time

Of course a lot of anglers don't have this problem killing every fish they catch

In that place I safely released a lot of dolphinfish and saw a lot of them killed by anglers

I gave him the best chance I was able to recover and I think it recovered well after the release looking at how well it swimmed away

  • Great effort from the shore!!!

  • first time I seen a dolphin caught from the shore. Outstanding!
