@TehMG I do industrial electrical maintenance...and you are correct...power factor is usually only where you have alot of single phase motors and perhaps a few welders...and in these saituations, the power company often installs capacitors at the power lines on the poles...
if you really want to save some money run an extra wire off the primary side of the meter box then hook up a small panel and transfer some of your single pole load to it. the meter wont read it and unless your a electrician with a good eye no one will catch it fuck all the jumpers and stupid fucking with the meter this is the journeyman's electricians way of properly stealing power
Bought two of these, and when wired in they took almost two amps to operate each, measured before the meter. And amps increased when using power. Power lost not saved. got refund !
these things do work !!! No bickering with those who do not know what they are talking about. These devices balance the load and help improve the efficiency of your appliances that are not energy efficient ! The US post office uses these in their machines and it does save !!!
Rubbish! These devices are SCAMS and do not work. You can't pervert the laws of physics by saying that an external device can improve the efficiency of an appliance. The name plate of any appliance will tell you how many Watts it takes. Efficiency is measured by work out/work in (or watts) as a %. Physics dictates that energy can neither be created or destroyed. I.e. it takes a certain required amount of energy to do work (energy is work over time) to run an appliance, machine or process.
AccentBuilding (a technical ignoramus) says power factor is related to ohms law . Nonsense. May I remind you of physics - & others who are observing please check my comments with any degreed electrical engineer. Resistance in Ohms = Voltage/current - that's the conversation for Ohms law. New conversation: power factor is the angular displacement in degrees between the voltage waveform and current waveform. I dare you to explain if you can how power factor correction is a function of resistance
You are an ignoramus. I mean that in the literal sense not the pejorative sense since you don't know what you are saying on every level UL is a safety rating to bless it's safety i.e. that it won't electrocute you It is NOT an endorsement of whether it saves energy, in fact it uses energy! UL doesn't prosecute or enforce patents, lawyers do. On YouTube there are several other energy savings SCAMS like this device. Others have commentated on the deception that is being perpetrated Give it up!
I think it's you who are touchy! I took pains to point out that ignoramus is a description of who you are being - not as a pejorative so don't take it personally. In Latin, "ignoramus" literally means "we are ignorant of" or "we do not know." The term acquired its English meaning of an ignorant person or dunce. You may be a nice person but you have demonstrated appalling ignorance of power issues and the relevance of UL. But your condition can be easily corrected by taking a course in power.
The utility meters provided for billing are highly accurate devices. These energy meters only measure REAL power, NOT reactive power! As for power factor correction (PFC), this benefits the utility so they provide their own PFC on the primary side of the distribution network.
These devices may improve power factor but residential users are not billed for power factor! These devices may clean up power - reduce spikes etc. but that does nothing for saving energy. Bottom line: these devices do not offer any savings for the 99% of users. A rigorous side-by-side test in 2 identical homes done at the same time in with the same weather conditions and exact same activities (running appliances lights etc.) with logging kWh meters will prove or disprove their dubious claims.
If you want to save money in your residence you would be better off turning lights and a/c off when not needed - get occupancy sensors - buy compact fluorescents - and junk that 15 year old fridge and get a more efficient one.
In UNLOADED motors the watts is going into heat and mechanical work. Reduce amps and you reduce heat loss so in UNLOADED or low load situations you will see a small reduction in watts because you are making less heat. ( Electrical engineers: I refer to the VA, VAR, and Watts triangle - improving power factor reduces VA V is the same so A goes down) In the real world few situations correspond to lightly loaded motors.
f it looks to good to be true it probably is! If you are approached to become a dealer for these my advice is to run away. I met a guy who invested $20K for the right to become a dealer - he's been duped. What is going on here? (Check out my comments with any electrical engineer.) An UNLOADED motor has poor power factor. Improving power factor reduces amps but the motor still needs to do the same work in watts - you get billed for watts not amps. See next comment
This only reduces amps not Kw. Tell me what you pay for on your energy bill? If you are using 3 amps instead of 6 but your Kw stay the same your power bill wont go down! It's a good power factor correction unit but worth about $25 max.
WOW-People who don't understand something shouldn't make advertisements and people who comment on things they don't understand are adding to the misinformation of the public.
It is obvious by your cussing-know-it-all-behavior you are compensating for greater problems in your life, IE: poor home life, sexual frustration, uneducated & ignorant, ETC.
I wish they made you put your picture online so your neighbors would stop loaning you their sharp, dangerous power tools. We wouldn't want you to get hurt. But of course - you already know that don't you!!!!
I particularly enjoyed the part where you claim "heat is created by unused electrical energy". That was precious!
The energy that goes into an incandescent bulb is about 2% for light and 98% for heat. But guess what - you are paying for the heat from from this bulb because you used the power-it is not unused. You used it and paid for it.This is the same for other loads also.
The Enzyte penis enlarger had all kinds of warranties, money back guarantees, published tests, testimonials, etc. But guess what Einstein - your dick isn't any larger than when you first started taking the expensive stuff, is it? To use your quote..."All of that recognition and product backing for something that's impossible"! Google your beloved ENZYTE product now! I know you must be using it!
The device is "power factor correction". It DOES reduce amperage, really! This is the phase relationship between the voltage and amperage. But... Watts are Watts.
Unfortunately the electric company charges you for Wattage, not amps. Reducing amperage doesnt save wattage other than a small amount of loss in the line. If you put this at your breaker panel, losses are insignificant in most cases.
Right, UL approved, DOE recognized, money-back guarantee and a 5 year warranty. University tested and published. All of that recognition and product backing for something that's impossible.
You cracked the code, way to go there, champ. You fucking idiot.
let me give you a little lesson!!! heat is caused by Resistance in the power consumption process not by stored or unused power to generate heat the appliance has to be in operation and consuming power...So you calling someone a moron and then saying heat is caused by unused power really kinda tells off on yourself dont you think..........
no not true.... the device if rated at 7 amps will still pull 7 amps however with the power factor correction at the main in the panel the load there will drop to 3.5 or 4 amps. these devices correct the power factor at the panel where the power is supplied with a power factor correction of lets say 58 to 85 the panel as a whole would draw less fla and a savings would be noticeable
This is just a Capacitor, all that is real, and you just need a Capacitor...

for
resistive load current in phase with voltage =0 degrees, for inductive
load current lags voltage by 90deg & for capacitive load
current leads the voltage by 90deg..

This video is so full of shit I can just about taste it.
This is just a crude PFC device which is not really good anyways.
Even a good PFC device would not save you much money at all, because:
1) I2R losses due to bad PF in a residential setting are negligible
2) residential customers get metered for real power used (W), not apparent power (VA), unlike commercial/industrial customers
