Triggers may not make your limbs move faster, but it means you can hit the head VERY lightly and get the same sound as a heavy footed stroke... That is why people say you can play faster with triggers.

The faster you get the closer the drum beater gets to the head so at those speeds where his beaters are hardly getting away from the drum head u would not even be able to hear it on a real bass drum. You could tap a trigger with your pinkie and it would sound like a huge bass drum. There for yes he can play at that speed but it is useless without an electric kit/triggers.
