  • I heard this song late one night 20 years ago in a pub in Slago Ireland. We'd almost been kidnapped, and the cops had left us in this town for the night. Since that night I have thought of the song, but could never discover it's name or writer. Thanks to the Internet I can listen to it again.

  • I heard Mick in kilkenny in St. Canices Cathedral....he was fantastic.

He does one about a tree he stole ...I think it was aquired from Wood stock in Inistoige!. Great song!

  • Paddyslippers

    Mick Hanly wrote this song.

He was born and raised in Ireland and performs all over Europe. I don't think he has ever performed in the US. His CD's can be purchased on line. Search him to get his website. The Live album is my favorite.

  • Limerick,Ireland to be precise.

  • Mick Hanly recorded this song on his CD, "Live From The Meeting Place." It is really great. The guitar licks are fantastic. Plenty of other great songs too.

Long before Hal Ketchum recorded this, Gary Furguson recorded a bluegrass version on his CD, "I'm Really Leaving" That's another great version.

  • did mick hanly write this??

  • Genius songwriter

  • author! author!

  • I love this song, so much better than all the cover songs by hal ketchum and so on.

Okey image, but sound could be better..
