There is no pumping without Bennetts. Figure this out and you will all pump. BTW, wedge trucks +16º front, -7º back. Bushings should be around 70-80 duro front, 80-95 back.
When you do it right and have it properly set-up, you'll pump uphill. You can also start it without speed, and there are endless moves that work.
I have a stock Dervish and it is "pump-able", on a totally flat, indoor car park I was able to do 4-5 push offs and then pump to keep myself going in a large square, for as long as I wished. However, it is very hard work and you will know you've done some work the next day. Loose front truck, tight rear - front foot just behind the truck, rear foot not too far back/just behind centre. Keep practicing.
hey buddy how long have u had ur dervish for?... i heard that the board loses flex after a couple of months and become too floppy? is this the case for you?
ok well to new longboarders first learning how to pump... just know that its best for maintaining your speed. the way i learned was i just kept boarding and tried to be familiar with momentum and turning. its all about timing your movement =] but when you get used to it its the easiest thing everrr
Here's the deal. . . pumping the Dervish really doesn't work. You can carve it hard and propel yourself along to a certain degree, but the geometry of the board just doesn't work for pumping. I just modded my Dervish to make it pumpable, because I quit running and started the "ldp" ("long distance pump") style for exercise.
I modded mine and now it works but it looks freaky with the front truck bottom mounted with 1/2" risers and set back to shorten the wheelbase! But it works goood.
pumping is really all about shifting your weight. push your front foot forward and pull your back foot backward on the board, and alternate. between alternations, bounce a bit on the balls of your feet. that's about the best advice i can give.
i recently got the loaded dervish... but i cant figure out how to pump its been a real pain can you guys please give me some tips ... i hate pushing with my feet i want to figure out how to pump already damet!!!!

I'm new to? longboarding. Is pumping sort of like an alternative to pushing the longboard?

People are used to videos like 'Whirling Dervish' sadly. This was just a bit of fun on a nice downhill slope. Glad it helped!
