Step 2: Vote for Ron Paul who would then deregulate the market, thereby getting rid of regulation requirements on airbags. Step 3: Once he deregulated the markets, go on down to your local Land Rover dealership and say, "I'd like to buy a Defender please."

This is best video on LR Defender! I have one, it is my second LR Defender...and it can do things which while attempting in other Offroaders - I will think twice except Landcruiser 70 and 80 series. If your life depends on an Offroader I will take Landcruiser 80 series anytime out - to meet the Challenge !!

@daverave2204 Land Rover's may be better than other 4x4's when they work but that is not very common. The Mercedes G class would be my choice if it was the end of the world and I had to get away from the zombies.
As far as I know it went like this...Series I, Series IIA, Series IIB (forward control), Series III (plastic grille), Stage 1 V8. All these were leaf-sprung. then the coil-sprung models started with the 110 and 90, before the Defender range began.
I´m disregardind military models such as the 88" Lightweight, the 100" 101, the 109" Santana Ligera, etc. The Range Rover came out in 1970 but we had to build our own coil-sprung Series Landies until around 1982/3, when the 1st coilers came out.
I dont think defenders are that slow are they??? s1, 11 and 111 were just called series 1 landrover not series 1 defender i dont think they had another model til after s3 then along came rangies i think
So few wannabees ever get past 'starry eyes' & armchair Landrovers. Pity so few experience rugged dependability in abusive conditions, not just parking on grass verges; these sloggers professionally go to unspeakable places towing more than their own weight behind them thro all sorts of filth and hardship. @Del360T What on earth are you on about. The Defender hasn't always been known as the defender. It was only because of the Discovery it had to have a name in the first place.
freelanders pre td4 gave terrible and repetitive head gasket problems. discovery had terrible terrible braking unless uprated and both had unreliable electrics and soft wheelbearings for offroad vehicles. however i found the defender to be ultimately different and better.
yep i had one for 7 years! it went wrong and even had a serious crash but still kept on going, seriously i crashed it into a post at 40mph and it still drove off badly damaged but not immobile like my audi which had a collision with a wall a few months ago and ended up as a write off

That is far from a standard defender. They are great off road but still have poor build quality and are way over priced. Iv worked on many of them and although im a fan im not blind to there many faults. Its no coincidence that many farmers are now buying japanese pick-ups and not land rovers. They are far cheaper, more reliable and far more room in the back than a 90.
erm...ok...why don't you sell it and get a ford explorer, escape hybrid or an escape...also ford now do a crossover called the edge, and it's faster than the bmw x5 by 2 seconds in a 1/2 mile drag race.
well if you wash it and hover it and sort out the engine oil it would be worth a bit more...plus you dont have to buy a big car again, you can buy like a second hand ford fiesta zetec S or something...thats what id do...
but that isnt a standard defender :P but its still cool

@Del360T What on earth are you on about. The Defender hasn't always been known as the defender. It was only because of the Discovery it had to have a name in the first place.

i have to argue with you on that.
freelanders pre td4 gave terrible and repetitive head gasket problems. discovery had terrible terrible braking unless uprated and both had unreliable electrics and soft wheelbearings for offroad vehicles. however i found the defender to be ultimately different and better.
from an owner of 5 discoveries and 1 freelander.

yep i had one for 7 years! it went wrong and even had a serious crash but still kept on going, seriously i crashed it into a post at 40mph and it still drove off badly damaged but not immobile like my audi which had a collision with a wall a few months ago and ended up as a write off

That is far from a standard defender. They are great off road but still have poor build quality and are way over priced. Iv worked on many of them and although im a fan im not blind to there many faults. Its no coincidence that many farmers are now buying japanese pick-ups and not land rovers. They are far cheaper, more reliable and far more room in the back than a 90.

my mom use to drive it and by drivign liek an old person she got liek 250 miles average out of the tank
now im 17 and have a heavier foot
so i get like 210 ish in summer and latley like 180 ish in the winter(running it real cold)

erm...ok...why don't you sell it and get a ford explorer, escape hybrid or an escape...also ford now do a crossover called the edge, and it's faster than the bmw x5 by 2 seconds in a 1/2 mile drag race.

well if you wash it and hover it and sort out the engine oil it would be worth a bit more...plus you dont have to buy a big car again, you can buy like a second hand ford fiesta zetec S or something...thats what id do...
