  • @sober123456789 then don't watch it... you are very rude.

  • are you sure you are in the US? Your accent is horrendous and your grammer is like Hinglish lolz ...and this video is not helpful at all.

  • I am african american and spanish (mixed). I grew up around indians and pakistani's. I became a muslim at 18 and almost everyone i knew was from pakistani background. Naturally I became more attached and inlove with pakistani and indian culture. I am into hinduism now, and I am probrably into indian culture more than ever before. It's a borderline obsession with all things inidan. I love indian music, food and clothes.I am seriously learning hindi through rockethindi. I hope to speak it in 8 wks

  • @KrishnaLOVE100 you have a beautiful mix of culture in you my friend :) hinduism is a very beautiful faith and way of life.

    one love my friend :)

    cya

  • Are you a news reporter

  • ur a nerd

  • fuck you !!!!

  • i'd just like to say that you are not speaking with an "american" accent. you're speaking with an indian accent. which is NOT a british accent. like i always tell my mom, she doesn't speak "british english"--at least not as long as she says briTTish english

  • @crayzidesi

Mother, British English does mean speaking with an English or British accent. I don't know where you got that idea from.

  • What "should be" "should be"??? Who are the Indians and South Asians to decide that English should be spoken with a British accent and only with a British accent? Americans, Canadians and Australians are also native speakers of English.

  • @ranjan2 I like Indian women speak English with a Hindi accent. SEXY

  • What are you talking about? I have never heard anyone from India speaking with a "british" accent, Indians have their own accents...and as if there were such a thing as a "british" accent...there are dozens of accents in the UK you fool! If you mean a posh accent then you are truly antiquated, not even the Queen speaks like that anymore.

  • @Whitbywatcher

  • Wonderful, I wish to learn the Hindi language, thank you

  • I have a book called "jdeveloper777's mother sucks dick for coke". It's about as reputable as jdeveloper777's reference and has some "lovely" illustrations.

Always learn to adapt to thy own shortcomings and improve on them instead of sticking to old bad habits.

  • nice accent

  • lmfao i love ur axcent

  • Chris, why are you showing off your stupidity by calling me Paki, when I am not Pakistani but Indian? Why can't the British differentiate between Indians and Pakistanis?

  • Nameste!

Thank you for the help. I'm learning Hindi from the movies but can always use the help.

Interesting controversy between Urdu and Hindi, eh?

  • "Here in the United States, most people confuse 'Hindi' and 'Hindu'". And that's because most Americans are cultural idiots. Oh, and I'm American btw..... thanks for making these videos, I'm still trying to just learn Devanagari script though.

  • ok grammar is similar to hindi i know that..but words are totally frm arabic and thats what my point is...obviously urdu was formed as a result of interaction of the invaders but but its script is very similar to arabic and so r the words..u may think so but i thoink its improper to use urdu words in hindi(nt talking of tadbhav hindi)

  • Excuse me, How do you say " I love you" in

    Hindi? please? :)

  • In Hindi, we say "mujhe tumse pyaar hai" [mʊdʒʰeː t̪ʊmseː pjaːr hɛː]. Note that "I" appears as the EXPERIENCER SUBJECT.

  • Shukran jazilan! = Thank you! :D

  • Main Tumse Pyaar KartA Hoon (for Male)

    Karti Hoon (for Female)

  • hindi is nt urdu as some idiot is claming here...yes today the two languages are mostly used in an interchangable manner but they r different....hindi derives words frm "sanskrit"...language of hindus while arbic is backbone of urdu...wonder if this guy who claims to be frm "delhi" has even seen a govt hindi document..it will stump him and he wont be able to read

  • For your kind information, Kanishk, Urdu is also a descendant of Sanskrit. It just uses more Persian and Arabic loanwords in its register. Arabic is a Semitic language which is a completely different family than our Indo-European family. It can never, never be the ancestor or Urdu. You should read about linguistics wherein they talk about language families.

  • As pointed out, you need to learn some basic linguistic geneology before you make comments on language affiliations. While Urdu may draw a lot of its lexical content from Arabic, its grammar is descended from Sanskrit and completely unrelated to Arabic. Urdu is even more closely related to Irish Gaelic than to Arabic.

The next time you decide to call somebody else an idiot, please be sure you know what you're talking about. This well help you avoid embarassing yourself again.

  • Arabic is the mother of all languages and this has been proven by the book Minanur Rahman by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. Also, the linguist Sheikh Mazhar Ahmad has compiled a detailed study in his series of books tracing the geneology of some languages to Arabic.

  • jdeveloper, what a hilarious statement you have made. I am 100% sure that neither you nor your great hazrat know even the L of Linguistics. It is silly and ludicrous to say that Arabic is the mother of "all" languages. In fact, Arabic is itself a descendant of Proto-Semitic language and bears no relation whatsoever to Indo-European languages. If you don't know linguistics, stay away from posting foolish comments.

  • im pretty sure the adamic language doesnt even exist anymore

  • Explain how Japanese is remotely related to Arabic. Stupid...

  • There is a book written by Sheikh Mazhar Ahmad titled Japanese Traced to Arabic. You can get it from the alislam website.

  • It's even more suspicious that this book is written by a Muslim and available on an Islamic website rather than a neutral linguist with no religoius affiliations.

Do you know anything about how this person traced Japanese to Arabic? Or how he concluded that Sanskrit, Latin, and Ancient Chinese arose from Arabic? Or rather, the predecessor of Arabic?

  • No, I have never heard of such "wide acclaimed Linguist" nor his prized book.

  • Knowledge belongs to all mankind. Simply belonging to one faith or another doesn't disbar someone from being a linguist or being a scientists in any other field. These books are available, and they are not well known, so that is why I did mention them.

  • Being of a certain faith certainl doesn't disbar someone from contributing to a scientific field, but it still increases the likelihood of bias in their contribution. I have heard of many languages being claimed as the "mother of all languages", and usually by people who belong to faiths associated with those languages. For example Sanskrit with Hinduism, and Hebrew with Judaism.

I'll try to take a look at this book if I get the chance.

  • ur mentally retarded , Its just stupid islamic propaganda that arabic is the mother of all languages and it's the language of god THATS BOGUS... On the contrary arabic is a poet language and useless cuz one word has 20 different meanings in arabic..

  • The fact that arabic is the mother of all languages doesn't take anything away from Hindi, or Urdu, or any other language. ALL languages are highly respectable, and have been created by God. It is commendable for anyone to learn any language. It is unfortunate that this discussion has degenerated into replies where people are degrading others based on languages. Every language is great. Arabic has been traced to Japanese and there is a book on it, but youtube doesn't allow URL in replies.

  • Jdeveloper, if you don't know lingistics, don't speak. By the way I too believe all languages are equally nice.

  • How about the fact that arabic is NOT the mother of all languages? How about the fact that you're just making shit up? How about you actually learn some history rather than spreading lies?

  • I suggest you read the book Minanur Rahman by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. You can disagree in this forum, but it doesn't help to use profanity. I am just contributing to the earlier discussion that was already begun on the geneology of languages. This information was not explored by linguists before Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad wrote Minanur Rahman.

  • So? One author is enough to change the consensus of historical opinion? If there was a book that claims you're a pedophile, should I solely use this source or should I consider others?

BTW, "traced to" does not equal "mother of". The fact is that many of the Muslim invaders who spoke Arabic between the 7th and 19th centuries went into areas with well established languages and texts and added a word or two, that does not make Arabic the mother of anything.

    TY for playing.

  • BTW, in jdeveloper's "source", the source is giving praise to Allah before going into the arguments, yes, quite an "objective" source it is.

  • I'm not sure what book you're talking about here, but I'm almost certain that this author has simply relied on the gathering of chance similarities between Arabic and many other languages to prove that Arabic is "the mother" of them all. People have done this numerous times in the past with other languages, but linguists have not accepted these erroneous arguments.

  • Rather being not sure, or almost certain, I would just like to contribute to this discussion by letting readers know about the book. I am not twisting anyone's arm or anything. There's no good reason to go into a fit of anger or use profanity. I have provided a source available for download. Reading the books is more helpful than posting profane language.

  • i really want to learn hindi because i'm very interested in indian culture. i eventually want to visit india and possibly live there for a while!!

  • Greetings from Peru. Thanks for taking the time to making this series of videos! Very good info.

  • Very interesting and helpful tutorial videos.

One minor observation that might have already been pointed out.... the English in these videos doesn't sound American at all (I'm Canadian). This sounds very much like an Indian accent, leaning towards British.

  • Well, when I hear my recording, even I don't think I sound as having American accent.

  • Hi

    I'm from Germany.

Thank you very much for making those videos.

    Keep up the good work!

  • ppl can be so rude. ignore the idiots, ur vids are awesome!

  • i am agree with maiyaaaaaaa ....thksssss. very good .

  • Wow,

I'm sorry these people are idiots.

I find your videos very usefull!

    thank you[:

  • It seems many people find my ranking of Hindi in most-spoken languages as very controversial. People are also doing guesswork. Well let me clarify with citation. According to Ethnologue, Hindi is the 2nd biggest by num. of speakers (366 M) PROVIDED all its dialects are included. Otherwise if only its principal dialect (Khariboli) is accounted, Hindi then becomes 5th biggest language (180 M in 1991).

  • kya chutheya banara logonku ...

hindi sikhara ki ithihaas shikaraa ...

pehley apna hat uttar aur thoda camera si duur hut ...

ur accent is not american and pls dnt pretend to have one ..

u have no moral right to comment about Indian government and policies.

the only reason i m leaving u now is because u had the right intent.

in short " cut the crap and get to business"

  • You don't have an 'American' accent. Work harder.. and the least you can do is sound remotely Indian.. but never an American.

US ka F-1 visa mila hain, iska matlab yeh nahin ki tu American ban gaya. Aukad main reh.

On the whole, I do appreciate the effort you've taken to put on a Learn Hindi series. I do not resent that. But, that being said, the introduction that you've given is completely misleading.

  • Well yes I have to confess that I don't have a very American accent because I cannot put on the front [ae] instead of [a], nor pronounce approxmt [r] in all instances, nor flap word-middle [t] and [d]. Indeed my Canadian-American friend said I speak a more European English. But why the hell your body is burning like a Bollywood actress in heat about certain things that I just mentioned passingly in the video?

  • 'Very' ???

You don't have an American accent at all ! Where does the 'very' come from? You crack me up douchebag.

When your endeavor is to enlighten others, at least give correct information. There are non-native speakers of English who will watch this video and take for granted that your supposed American accent is indeed American.

And Hindi is not the 2nd most. Some people place it as 3rd, some as 5th.. but definitely not 2nd. Mandarin is first, and English second.

  • Hindi is ranked number two among those for whom it is theirfirst language, not total speakers.

  • On the whole, You are just making a fool of yourself. I'm quite flummoxed that you still have this video on. Any self-respecting man who does lame things in the peak of his teen-hood stupidity, will definitely realize the extent of his stupidity in later ages and rectify it. But you, my friend, want to remain stupid and ridiculed all along. Kudos.

  • Why don't you just F*** off? What good have you ever done in life, whether for Hindi or otherwise? Do you think yourself becoming smart just by mocking someone doing something useful? And if don't know Linguistics, don't speak about it.

  • I'm a researcher of Linguistics.. which is why I am commenting. Else I wouldn't have bothered.

I cannot endure linguistics being butchered in broad daylight by panzies like you.

  • what? nooo... not hindi and not french is the 2nd language... and china the first lang... ?? *laugh* no... i am german ^^ but the most language that is spoken is english! so, but thank you for the nice video, i have searched so long after videos with hindi language and so on, because i would like to learn it... and i see it gives just more videos about hindi than for six months.. *sorry i am not very good in english*

  • saala..lecture kyu suna raha hai..

n hindi is not da 2nd lang...

    french is da 2nd..dumbo...

    u r brainless seriously..

    u've got indian accent..loser..haha

  • Bring me the published reference on this matter; otherwise if you don't know, don't speak. Guess work is not welcome.

  • abey pagal hai saalry...kab nikla pagal khaane se bahar..haa!!!

  • Fu*k off, you silly pig.

  • French isn't even in the top five.

  • english

    spanish

    frensh

arabic this is the right order

  • Very informative!

  • THIRD MOST SPOKEN LANGUAGE IN THE WORLD

    1. mandarin

    2. english

    3.HINDI

    4.spanish

  • 3. Hindustani

    Number of speakers: 497 million

The prominence of English in India prevents Hindustani from surpassing the most popular language in the world.

  • dawood180:

i am currently majoring in world history in college right now, and i wud like to inform you that even though urdu is not completely the same as hindi, hindi came from urdu and they are both very similar (i can say that because i speak both hindi and urdu).

also, most text books consider hindi and urdu the same, so u shudn't get upset that some people believe it is the same.

lastly, another thing is that islam is offers the least human/woman rights out of all of the

    religions. thanks.

  • hindi is the 2nd most spoken language????wtf

    it,s not the true

i think french is the 2nd most spoken language

  • Really I would think Spanish is

  • deff not french but nice try

  • Thank you so much.

I learned some hindi phrases online and they are not understood by my punjabi friends who speak hindi, punjabi, and english. so is their a seperate dialect within hindi that is a different language?

  • thanks for the vids. saw ur from Varanasi. I went there last summer...it was very interesting :)

  • Hi, thank you so much for your selfless work. I was thrilled when found out your videos. Also I like your way of teaching. I look forward to your videos. Greetings from Croatia. :-)

  • What a wonderful lesson. I really enjoyed it. Thank you for posting it.

  • interesting videos!

in fact I'm German and came to learn Hindi by watching the movies. It seems to be the first language that I'm able to study myself with books. It finally worked out for me, but one really needs a lot of motivation.

I think the reason why Europeans don't study Hindi or other Indian Languages that much is that tey think all Indians would know English very well. Even if they did, I'm sure they'd appreciate it when foreigners are talking in Hindi to them. Greedz

  • Wie geht es dir?

  • portuguese not putagees!

  • Dawood, if you don't know Linguistics, don't poke your head in its matters and make a fool of your Paki self. And I am not here to fight about religion.

  • I live in delhi and I am indian, dont try to con me. I will librate my delhi from India. Thats what your mistake is, you think we are not a part of india when we want our basic human rights and u try killing us.

    Khalistan will be a reality.

  • i love your videos

  • namaste, meera naam jessica hai.

And that is the extent of my hindi! I'm learning...

So thanks! Great video! I'm glad to see you have a large series here...this looks helpful.

  • Awesome video dude. This is helping me a lot.

    India Zinda Baad

  • I am so happy I found your videos. I think you are doing great and I just wanted to thank you for making all this information available. You have really made my day - I could not find any Hindi lessons in Brussels and now I can begin to learn on YouTube. Thanks once again!

  • Sorry, I was acting like an ignorant person. My apologies.

  • you are a FOB.

  • lol....

  • sorry...but spanish is the second world language and not the second most spoken language in the world

  • i am a native spanish speaker. spanish is the 5th most spoken language by total speakers

Bharat subsey achaa desh hey. May ney teacher dihi mey thaa..Modern school mey.

    Great country..great people...muskil language!!!

  • Thanks for trying to help us learn Hindi. May I suggest that you move the microphone closer to you, so that we can clearly hear your pronunciation. Also, it would be nice if the lighting of your videos was much brighter.

Despite these shortcomings, your vids are appreciated.

  • I liked your video. However, I think you should have said, "Things they feel are bad or crap." The way you said it seems as if you feel that Islam and Christianity is crap. You may want to watch that because your audience will be of many religions. Religion, as you know is very personal and sensitive to people.

  • Yes truly, I only meant what you have just said. I am respectful of all religions and I hope my sentences will not be misinterpreted.

  • Yes, I understood you did not mean it in this way. Thanks for being kind to my notice. I will be looking for your other videos.

Also, I am glad that you are taking up teaching us this language. A lot of my friends speak Hindi and I would love to join into the conversation. The only thing I can amuse them at is when I say "a'rrrray" which they told me means something like, "What" or "What is this?!" in English.

  • Examples of a well-lit and clearly-heard videos which also attempts to teach us a little about Hindi and the Indian culture come from fellow YouTuber kittykattykoo. Take a look and you will see what I mean.

  • But I don't intend to teach with my face on. See the rest of the videos, they are ppt presentation on video.

  • Islam and Christianity is crap.

  • I luv Hindu Gods; they're much more democratic because they have gods and goddesses. x)

  • Yes, we have many goddesses.

  • yeah, snakes are also gods there.

  • very interesting, i didn't know a lot of this information.

  • Thank you for a brief background on the Hindi language. I agree with rak, ignore the negative comments. There are so many who use the anonymity of the internet because they have no courage. They are cowards. Paper cowboys.

  • Guys, if you come across any negative comments, then please ignore them because they are meant to discourage us from learning hindi. So please don't be bothered.

  • I've been trying to learn hindi for the past 12 years but am still not fluent.

It appears there is also not one hindi but several dialects and the Hindi of Doordarshan is hardly spoken by anyone. A lot of ppl speak something called bambaiya.

  • May Hindi Seek Raha hum. I really liked your videos. Shukrea

  • if you wanna learn hindi watch hindi films with subs, thats how i learnt it.

  • haha ,i'm trying to do that too

  • You mentioned a bit about the Aryan Invasion theory and then said that you do not wish to talk more about it. But, what little you said could be construed as ignorant and biased. If anybody watches this video, I encourage them to learn about the Aryan Invasion and know what is mentioned in this video is not the entire story. You may or may not believe his one-line version, but at least learn more than what is said in the video.

  • Where did I mention I support an Aryan Invasion Theory? And of course, people should get their own information and knowledge before believing in someone else.

  • Aryan Invasion theory is totally made up. They did to break the Indian spirit. They didn't want to give our people credit for creating the Great Vedic Civilization of India.

  • Idiot ! Enough of the life story, start talking hindi. Learn from Shastri JC Philip!

  • Learn some respect, and put some tissue in your empty head. All the rest of videos are about actual Hindi.

  • am arabic ... there are alot of ppl who speak hindi over here .. in qatar for example .. mabye 30% of the ppl are from india

  • You are very intelligent! You should be professor teaching people our ancient language. But whatever you do you will be successful no matter what! Live long and prosper!

  • Thank you for this. I'm in the middle of the US and this video makes it easier for me to hear and learn Hindi.

  • this is great

  • thank you so much for the videos. i just started watching. i have been wanting to learn hindi for a long time but couldn't find a good method. i like yours

  • You're good Indian kid. Doing a good job, keep it up. Namaste.

  • sukriya rajan, I really want to study it, please keep it. once again thank you

  • Thank you so much for these videos. I want to learn hindi so much but the sounds are very different from my native Spanish. I have also learned English and French. I love bollywood movies and would like to watch movies without subtitles. Please, keep making them. I am very grateful for your effort.

  • I just discovered your videos. I'm thrilled and grateful for what you are doing. I really look forward to learning from you. :-)

  • Thank you so much. I have been trying to find a way to learn Hindi since I was introduced to Bollywood about a year ago, I even bought a language CD for my computer but it hasn't really helped. So once agian, thank you.

  • Namaste it is a very informative video and I hope you keep doing them. but one recomendation is a lot better when you talk to the camera instead of reading.

  • To nawadayima: I have mentioned this about Urdu in Hindi part 6, and may be, I may come up later with the basic perso-arabic script too.

  • I think it is also worth mentioning that Hindi is colloquially the same language as Urdu, the official language of Pakistan.

  • Namaste ji!! Aap kaise hain? thank you for this im hoping to improve my hindi and havent as of yet found a good way to do so via books, internet or learning cd's :-)

  • My pleasure, HoneySweetLotus.

  • Great idea! Congratulations!
