Waters wrote the lyrics, a great deal of the music and came up with all the concepts during their golden years - he was the main architect behind Pink Floyd. After he left it was a shambles frankly - Gilmour drafing in all and sundry to try and write Floyd tunes and failing miserably with radio friendly pop pap like Learning to Fly. Gilmour is a brilliant guitar player, Roger is the genius songwriter.

It was EPIC when Gilmour showed up. You couldn't see him up there, and BOOM. That voice then that solo, and then again, and then EPIC SOLO destroying all in its path. These guys were not only the most trippy band, but are also MASTERS of what they do. Drugs or no drugs. They get the job done no matter what. It was such a good moment when David showed up high in the sky above.
