I agree with 1938superman on how this whole singularity business sounds a LOT like Ghost in the Shell, and frankly think it's all just cooky business and I wouldn't want to be a part of it even if we DID reach that point in technological advancement. I've said that before on another comment as well.
And you're absolutely right, it IS like all religions. It's a human need and it's just a different way to respond to it.

My thoughts on it all are not sufficiently synthesized at present to be able to say something meaningful, but it's a neat subject and I'm glad you brought it up. I think people are living too long as it is. If people start living to 125, what's going to happen to healthcare and social security and other retirement programs? Even the job market will start to suffer because people are going to start working longer. It's a mess. But then I believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster, so whatta I know? ;)

did you know if we lived forever the average life expectancy would be about 900 years because we could still get killed of unatural causes. It would suck to know that some day you will die tragically and can you imagine how you would pee after 500 nevermind 40 lol

125 yrs? It's quality of life, not quantity of life. And frankly the quality of my life would have to improve dramatically for me to want to go through this 125 yrs.
Think less of what he is saying an think about WHY he might say it. Think also of those he may have had contact with in his life (politicians, scientists, spiritualists, elite, etc). I'm not one for conspiracy *theories*, yet I believe conspiracies exist all around us (it just takes two or more people keeping a dangerous secret... Watergate was a conspiracy theory). There is SOMETHING kept from us, any until the 'time', most people just aren't going to know it, let alone want to know it.
