I gotta say that Wilfried is incredible. He's got double the valves of any of the other guys (including the transposing lever), puts out 4x the air (playing both trumpet and tuba, its a big difference) and takes 10x the abuse (just shy of poor Leonhard). I think that the virtuosity of all of the players combined is what makes every one of them shine.
the trumpet player with the long hair (roman rindberger) now plays the horn that gansch plays and it sounds a lot better, if you compare some of their newer stuff to this, he sounds so different.
@master083 It's called a rotary trumpet, they're more traditional in Europe than piston valved trumpets, instead of having valves that go up and down, they have valves that turn when the keys are pressed. hope that helped
Stop using the word "amazing" so much. I'm really getting sick of that word. Is your lexicon so limited you can't think of anything more descriptive?
i just noticed a greater musical meaning... at 0:34 they use the dies irae theme (trombones) from ancient gregorian chants! many composers did that (liszt, rachmaninov,...)
Actually, you mean you miss Sebastian as this is an older clip. Zoltan is in the group now (and what a player they each are!). I believe Sebastian left (Global Kryner as well) to focus on his singing career.
i noticed this gesture too. maybe it's a sign to continue to next part.
does anybody know if this piece has a title? it's very balkan alike. Roman and Robert are outstanding here, but Thomas is absolutely epic and totally into it.
What song is 1:35 - 2:35 ?

A hand gesture from Thomas Gansch at 2:17?

@AcidLifeform
It's sort of a potpourri, but at 2:33 they play "carvan" by Duke Ellington.

@AcidLifeform
it looks like a signal for all 3 trumpets to impro together.
mamba21500 1 year ago
@AcidLifeform
i think it was for robert....because then they played all 3 ;)
stinf77 1 year ago
@AcidLifeform I don't know the song,
but if they're improvising, it can be they just did like: "Shall we play now?"
1991wow1991 11 months ago
@AcidLifeform Not only balkan but hispanic also.

Would you believe it sounds like Caravan with variations - and damn good ones
emilybuttons1 3 months ago
@AcidLifeform the gesture should be a cue for further improvising. The soli are open, and Thomas gives cues Roman for blending their improvisations.

@Gozaburo1 I think it's just a guesture to the guy on the far right as in 'ok us now' kinda thing
StraightNoChaser86 1 year ago
@Gozaburo1 Signaling to the other to move past the solo section would be my bet
TRFpudge13 1 year ago
@Gozaburo1 I think its to do a duet solo with the trumpet player with the longer hair? (Don't know all their names)
km426 11 months ago
@Gozaburo1 I'm pretty sure he wanted Roman to join in with the solo that Robert was already doing. And yes, continue to the next part.
highchops81 6 months ago
@Gozaburo1 I believe that the signal was to repeat for the last time, and for all the trumpets to play together.
plaetarsikcky 5 months ago
@Gozaburo1 He was suggesting to all solo together and then go on to a Caravan excerpt and after that I'm not sure what it is
Gwalka 3 months ago
@Gozaburo1 I think they're at a vamp part, which they could keep playing bars each, but Thomas signal "all of us" to end the vamp.

Die Balkanpartie bei 1:06 ist dermaßen geil, vor allem der Bassabgang bei 1:23!!! Dass mit dem Sax hab ich mir aber auch schon mal gedacht!
