  • ive.seen joey jordison use it for a speed tecniqe (i dont know how to spell)

  • The second thing you showed while mentioning Jo Jo is very close to the push/pull. First technique is a gravity, no matter how you use it. That gravity stuff is simple as pie compared to fully learning push/pull. Cool that you mentioned all 3, as people rely on one or the other only sometimes. They're all one handed rolls. I'm not a fan of the gravity stuff as you get a click from the rim. Push/pull, constant finger motion and moeller are the way forward imo ;)

  • why post this crap?

  • @markmcd69 because people would want to learn it -_-

  • Thanks for the tip

  • jo jo meyers not human. i think some ppl have certain mucle types. makes em bettr at small quick movement.ive always had tight tendon n muscle.

  • gravity blasts and moeller are totally different techniques dude.

  • gravity blast! those sticks look brand new

  • NOT A ONE HAND ROLL BUT A GRAVITY BLAST

  • I gravity blasted it all over your mom's face.

  • ok wt ever u sai

  • Technically, a it's only called a gravity blast when it's combined with a blast beat...

  • @MrDonderhead same thing

  • thanks, I needed to watch somebody doing the technique

  • it's called a gravity blast and you use it in technical death metal. check out bands like the faceless and beneath the massacre to hear it in action. The one jojo mayer and buddy rich do is used by jazz drummers everyday. It's pretty obvious that you're not a jazz drummer.

  • lame

  • The problem I have with gravity blasting is that I can't find that sweet spot in the stick so I am constantly doing rimshots when i don't want to. I guess i havent got the technique down.

  • just do it super slow until you find it, hold the stick further back

  • That's a god damn gravity blast! I mean I guess you can call it a one handed roll technically it is one handed.

  • i have the same speakers 7.1

  • he is way to fat to play drums

  • you are "TOO" stupid to even attempt making comments on peoples videos.

  • :F:D:D:D:D

  • isn't this the fake way of doing it? i'm jus saying cuz i'm a little new when it comes to doing tricks with drum sticks. but i do play the drums.

  • there;s no such thing as a fake way of doing anything. if you did it you did it. it's a concept many seem to not understand.

  • uh ok

  • yea its just all technique

  • Thanks for the tip. Nice job! Did you eat cookies before making this video? Clean your desk, man! LOL

  • dude, tis is the freehand technique, not push pull. and to Zdrummer45, this isn't fake. it's just a different way.

  • this is the fake way of doing it

  • ur stubon as hell arent u?

  • No, thats just the fake way of doing it.

  • fake? wow dumbass, looks like he did it to me. if you did it you did it. there's no smoke and mirriors.

  • Nahh I'm definitely not the dumbass you stupid shit. The bouncing of the stick on the rim of the drum (which he is referring to) is the easy way of doing a one handed roll, also called a gravity blast. Doing it the real way, you don't bounce it on the rim, its called the push pull method, or even the moeller a lot more difficult and a whole lot better sounding. Why don't you check out some videos of people doing that. Maybe know what your talking about before you say something next time.

  • many drummers use this method, thomas lang for instance, it's not a fake way at all.

  • i thinks is ANOTHER way of doing it, not the fake way. it works, so doesnt matter.

i play in this way and it sounds great.

  • I realise it's like 4 months down the line but you couldn't give me the link for a video with the so-called real way of doing it? I'm intrigued. And that sounds sarcastic but it's not man.

  • well then its gonna be hard as fuck for me to use this, cuz i cant do it

  • like skateboarding !

  • Finding a use for this is alot harder than learning it LOL

  • if you use the rim it's not a true one handed drum roll. I'm so sick of searching youtube for one handed roll and coming up with a bunch of guys doing gravity blasts. Buddy guy could do a true one handed drum roll and I'm sure there's others.

  • its a rim fulcrum roll. i say in the video jojo mayer and others do a true one handed roll and demonstrate how its done. buddy did a moeller triplet method. thanks for your wonderful imput boss keep up the good work.

  • where`re your drums :P

  • yeah this is a gravity blast one handed drum roll uses ur fingers and slight wrist motions but both produce similair results so yeah...

  • they are the same exact thing, you fucking retard. gravity blast is a cool name MADE UP for a one handed drum roll. down up down up, same shit..

  • called a gravity blast by thw way

  • Yeah, one handed roll doesn't require the rim...

  • Holy shit. I have the exact same phone.

  • its sick isnt it? plug one in and 3 others work anywhere! who woulda thunk it.

  • Dude I have that phone too XD

The main phone is in my room s when dinners ready my parents just call the home and leave a message in my room :P

  • the one you have to use te rim for is called the freehand technique, the other is push pull, different techniques both very use full

  • wow who really cares. Your looking up drum videos and your telling people how fat they are???

  • dont take crap from someone with naruto in their name LOL

  • guy doesnt even know the proper way to say "you're fat". Look up that doosh. Hes some anime fag who prob blows at drumming.

    ILL SIT ON YOU NARUTO!

  • Jo-Jo MAY-er

  • this is a great technique, ive fooled so many people when im up on stage

  • Thx 4 the advice

  • I saw a jazz drummer do this at my school in the 80's. I was just blown away. He told me he worked mostly in nashville and had done some albums with some sould bands and country bands. Anyway, you did a nice job teaching this technique. These other mutton heads on here can piss off. A good drummer can make anything a musical instrument.

  • thanks dude. ive been wanting to learn this

    hope i can!

  • lOOk at my one haned roll video! leave a comment

  • thats my kind of teaching on a friggin table, awesome. maybe the next video can be stick tosses while on the crapper

  • As is intelligently stated, "Playing it and making common sense using it are two different things. Guys today are too hung up on chops and speed and flash. Drumming is about music and keeping time. Some of the greatest drummers of all time had fair chops. Too many experts on YouTube playing in garages or basements when they should be out performing with a band. That is what drumming is about and that is fact.

  • you are correct.... but if you dont have your chops... u might b able to paly the most complex drum rhythms... but ull only b able to do a half assed fill, since most EVERY fill a drummer does is corely based on the chops

  • hey intelligent genius man, u forgot the end quote...

  • Oh my God, after spazzing my hand out near the rim and finding out about this, it took about thirty seconds to master. A push-pull or in-out or whatever you want to call it is a more genuine roll, especially since you don't get rim click sounds in there, (correct 'excuses', you would hear a rim clicking sound), and you can do it on virtually any surface. I'd lke to see a death metal drummer do this "Gravity Blast" on a ride bell for his precious, NEVER unoriginal blast beat.

  • or you can just bounce it and rock with middle and ring finger, thats the easiest way to me.

  • jojo (may*ughr!) hes not endorced bl oscar mayer bologna!

  • i know two people who have studied with jojo, one who was his drum tech for many years named guy licata...good live drum and bass drummer, and as far as i know his name is pronounced that way.

  • thanks..man

  • yes. stevenhorgan touched the spot. it's not a drum. if it would have been, than you could hear what sound comes out when you hit the rim and the skin at the same time. for this technique, first the stick must hit the skin and only after that comes the rim.

  • called a Gravity Blast :)

  • Really nice video, but I admire even more your idea to do it on the table. So I can do it right now! Thx a lot!

  • ohh my god...life saver!!!!!!!!!!

  • that's not a drum

  • THANK YOU!!!

  • nice dude.... u should be a teacher :P

  • he is lol

  • thanks!
