I live in a very nice neighbourhood of London, but just 1 mile down the road there is an area that is rife with unemployed, poor housing, poor schooling etc. I personally feel that if you are born into this type of area you have to fight very hard not too fall into the poverty trap. I feel taxes should be a lot higher and the money should go too making everyones life as comfortable as possible, and give our children the best education

At the begining of the week the buses were full by Friday there was maybe 1 or 2 people on one bus. 90% of the people working at my plant were from out of state. Actually, Most of detroit's residents keep their houses up pretty well. Its the abandoned homes which fall to disrepair.

I worked installations for at&t in detroit for a while, and I was always impressed at how nice most of the homes were. As long as they had residents.

Have driven around the black bottom, deep east, Linwood, the westside lately - you would have to live a VERY sheltered life to not see the state of the city of Detroit - the suburb folks who drive down get off the highway and jump back on may not see the real state of Detroit but those who live and hang there know the real Detroit not just the pretty facade the other folks see.
