If I had had the chance to have met her and was old enough, she'd never would have gotten away from me! No way!! James Dean should have married her, he probably wouldn't have died in that car crash but she had an overbearing mother from the old country. And yes, she should be remembered for her talents, period.
If you ever see films from 50's with Angeli then see films in late 60's. Angeli still beautiful but she has a "hardness" that wasn't there in 50's films. You can see her most time in one of her last american films which was average war film 65 Battle of the bulge. Her last film was an awful horror movie in 1970. Just sad Hollywood story consideing how it began. Angeli has a twin sister who I believe is still alive living in France.

I actually have seen copy of the autopsy suicide report. Angeli made some awful low budget movies in late 60's even appearing nude in one. Died at 39.
It's kind of sad that she's only remembered through James Dean. It bothers me in fact. Don't get me wrong. He was an interesting actor and tragically lost his life, but he should be the only thing Pier Angeli is remembered for. She had a great voice and I have a LP of her singing, she was a great actress, and beautiful in her own right.
She doesn't need to always be associated with Dean. Give her the bit of limelight she deserves.

I agree. My aunts were Pier Angeli's fans and 55 years ago they lived in a remote place in South America, so I'm guessing Pier was very famous in her time. Girls wanted to be like her, babies were named after her and boys only wanted to see her. And that all without Dean's help. Chronologically after Dean there was prejudice to her career. I also have her LP and some of her films, enough to know that she was a talented woman who deserved a better remembrance.

Even Kirk Douglas states in his autobiography that she had dark eyes and... They were engaged. Maybe he was not the person who wrote his book.:-)

I saw one of her first films during the early fifties: Tomorrow Is Too Late - directed by Vittorio de Sica.
Pier Angeli had a sister who also became an actress: Marissa Pavan.

Well granted, Wiki is not 100% all fact, but I've read about this on other sources. Wiki is just the easiest to looks find.
My whole thing is she shouldn't be remembered for being James Dean's gal, but for herself.
Ultimately nobody will know what true feelings that had for each other except them and they're both dead.
