Not happy with the sound of my Strat and a Fender Super Sonic. Have been thinking of another Carvin. After watching this Vid and going to Carvin in LA, this seems to be the most versitle setup. Now waiting for my CS624. Right after that, V3m212. Thanks Carvin and Steve Fister. Now completely devoted to Carvin. Anyone want a custom Strat?

Can anyone comment on the clean headroom of this amp? I was all jazzed up about getting one. Then, I noticed it had EL84 tubes for some reason? Most amps on that power tube have great crunch and almost no headroom. Why were these tubes chosen over say two EL34? What is the headroom like?

I use the V3M for our shows - it is a great amp, portable and has plenty of power. I run this through either a 4x12 or 2x12 depending on the venue. Check out Riversyde - we used the V3M for the song Knocking On My Door.

This is a 50 watt amp. But it can be lowered to 7 or 22 watts. :)

Just got mine in 2 day. it's got some beautiful fender like cleans. Turn the drive up a little on the clean channel switch it to soak you get some awesome blues with my tele. Nice classic rock 2. Hook into my Ibanez prestige Tweak some knobss in you got great metal

Why do people always use so much mids when trying to play metal, metal should have like 0 to 2 mids, it sounds shit with mids.

@Brutalyeah 0-2 mids is fun if you're goofing off by yourself. But if you're going to play with a band it helps to get an amp that has good mids so you can be heard in the mix so you don't get drowned out.

@Brutalyeah Hah! If your mids are super sucked out you can boost all you want with the EQ pedal. It'll just be shrill. But seriously, I use to play with no mids when I first started playing guitar and man, once you get with a band, even a super loud amp sounds like a practice amp minus the mids.

@Brutalyeah why boost mids with a pedal when you can tweak it on the amp to get the sound you want. scooping out mids in the amp just gives you a really stupid sounding distortion.

Mids take away gain, and not only with my own amp, I tried it on diffrent amps.

What I want to say is:

Boosting mids on your amp gives a diffrent sound than boosting the mid frequencies with an EQ-pedal of an amp without mids.

carvin makes such great stuff at a reasonable price, i just recently got a legacy 1/2 stack and i gotta say, i was lookin at everything from mesa boogie, to engl, bogner..etc. mind you you're not gonna get the blistering overdrive that you will get from an engl but that's nothing a little tube screamer or something similar can't handle and the clean tone, LOOK OUT!!!, its just huge!!!, for overall verstility imho it's really one of the best out there. it's really great for the singing notes.rock

Nice amp, but it seem like it can only do 2 sounds, clean and way distorted...where is the sweet breakup of blues sounds in there?

@nicolasrivera The blues is in there. You can choose between setting the clean channel character switch to Soak and it will break up when you play hard. Or you can back down the gain on the other channels. Listen again at 3:30. Also check out the demo of the combo version of this amp

@megadv8r that's because the microphone is placed close to the speaker so you don't hear the amp bouncing off the walls. Plus this room has no reflective surfaces, wall-to-wall carpet, heavy curtains on all walls. We built the room to eliminate reflections and standing waves.
