Civil rights organisations, sich as Amnesty, gay campaigners and western European politicians support gay rights - and at the same time they support "minority rights" for Russians in the Baltic countries. Don't they understand that a firm hand is needed to integrate the Russians into Latvian society (and in Estonia etc. as well)? You can't be tolerant to intolerant people. It's an oxymoron.

These protesters are not Latvian, but Russian. They have signs showing bible quotations in Russian. An incredible arrogance, since some of them seem so young they have always lived in Latvia (not the USSR) but failed to learn the language of the country. Also, most of them will not even know the Lord's Prayer, but it has become fashionable among Russians to be "Christian" - it has nothing to do with religion but is a way of showing Russian patriotism.

My argument here would be to say that this line is crystal clear in establishing that Christianity and homosexuality are incompatible. Paul is actually quite clearly referring to homosexual behaviour, and includes lesbianism. You can't just pretend that St Paul, who did so much to influence our understanding of Jesus, didn't know what he was talking about. He's clear that homosexuality is an offence against God and against people's own bodies.

If that makes me 'thick' or 'bigoted' then so be.
