A friend I work with who was working in IRon River WI took his young girls and wife for a drive November 9 to Duluth because the weather was so nice. He watched as it departed and saw a man he described about 50 in white coverhauls waiving at him and his girls and even yelled what a nice day it was. As the ship passed the name Edmund Fitzgerald was noted on the stern. To this day, Steve says it bothers him, that he was so close and that he was the last one to see any member of the Fitz
I saw the Fitz that summer in July on a trip to the Locks with my Grandparents... it was weird as a 7yr old to look at the pics we took and realize that every man on deck in that picture died in the wreck... 35yrs ago today in fact....
Actually there was probably not a single man in the video that died in 1975. This was seven years before she sank and the sailors moved around a lot back then.
@BobandGantarComics it was horrible back then

She was a beautiful ship. To bad they didn't drydock her sooner to check for problems.

Creepy, to see life continue as usual on her... blissfully unaware of her fate in the coming years.
