Legendary album will be talked about and be in music history forever, with the legendary PETE DRAKE on pedal steel guitar , the Nashville session man who gave Peter Frampton his talk box.
Jesus Christ Barfly, what's yer friggin problem? The guy did his best to cope with a pretty wild ride. He got out of Liverpool and played with a hard working and gifted band. He suffered human frailties and afflictions... was a bad ass, long hair, pot smokin race car driver to the end. He took what privilege he commanded to get some peace and quiet... and still set aside enough to leave a mark thanking God and praising Love. He struggled to be a righteous man. Be grateful for George.
Give me a single quote that states he believed in Karma. Lol. FrlghtWhelp, your entire existence is a hypocrisy. A schizophrenic sociopath with a multiple personality disorder and no talent criticizing a man with beautiful musical composition.
Why is it that everything you say is a lie? Hell, even your karma claim is bullshit. Unable to find real insults?
Nah, George Harrison isn't relevant because he's a Beatle. I hardly listen to any Beatles songs anymore after hearing his solos.
Btw, from your expertly capitalized text, you have conveyed "MUST...SCAN....READ". So does that convey that you scan things on George Harrison and put them into a sociopathic fairytale rather than anything that makes sense?
Lol, what serious music? All I see is Imagine being repeatedly played, a song made by a hypocrite who beat and cheated on his wife and neglected his children.
@xBARFLYx - George falls from a lofty pedestal. A pedestal of his own making. This "hippie" thing was theater. A smoke screen for his bitterness. He complained that fame had compromised his privacy. Then, went on countless TV, newspaper and magazine interviews to complain about it. Never mind that he enjoyed the money from it. Had he been a bigger talent we might excuse his hypocrisy. That his fame is largely built on the backs of other people's talent makes his complaining all the more painful!
And how many interviews exactly did he complain about fame attacking his privacy? Name me 5. They are "countless" right? How about 4? 3? 2? 1?
Lol, you want to know how sad Lennon is? In his last interview, he cried that George didn't mention he put three lines in Taxman. He called himself a socialist, refusing to give to charity and having $150 million. He's the DEFINITION of a hippie-hypocrite!
@xBARFLYx - He was a member of the greatest band in history yet he could not get respect. Even the "QUIET" Beatle label was a misunderstanding. He was "quiet" because he did not have John's WIT or Paul's CHARM. Reporters seldom went to him. He was sued by his neighbors for shutting access to the coast at his Hawaiian estate (a most "kind" man?). He lived in a 120 room mansion, smoked 6 packs a day while professing the importance of taking care of the planet AND ones body. A "down to earth" man?
@rockportmare - Please speak for yourself. I miss John Lennon. I DO NOT miss George Harrison. Mr. PLAGIARIZER! Somebody who damaged the Beatle legacy rather than help it. The fool literally SMOKED HIMSELF TO DEATH whereby John was slaughtered in the street. How can you "miss" George?
I played this album over and over and over, so many years ago, when I was 15 or 16. Wore out the grooves. Loved this song. Little did I know back then that I'd live this song.
Every time I cry, Every time I'm sad, I put this song and when he he says "pleas forget those teardrops lemme take them from you" I immediately stop crying. Thanks George for being there when no one else can be.
"Ringo" fans.... In honor of Ringo's 70th, I hope U will check out my "RINGO"video. It's very retro with Beatleish touches & was done as a labor of love and with the utmost respect for the Fabs. My attempt at putting a little bit of the Beatle spirit out there for Beatle fans. It's also my tribute to George Harrison's slide playing as well as Ringo's unique style.
The instrumentation is country but this is much more soulful and beautiful. To my British ears country is unlistenable, maybe because it's just too alien.
I used to dance to this wonderful song with my lovely wife, Louise Casa in our kitchen. God Rest her soul. I miss her so much. I will love you forever, Louise. Your sweetie, Georgie
A truly beautiful song. My parents often danced to this song. It was my late father who bought me this album in Dec. 1971, because he liked Harrison's guitar style, lyrical arrangements, and singing, and knew that I would too, although I had been a Harrison fan since the early days. I had this played at my mother's funeral along with Eva Cassidy's version of "Songbird". The combination put everyone at ease and brought many a smile.
Wow. That is so sweet. Thank you for sharing. I love George Harrison and I love Eva Cassidy's music and that would definitely be a great tribute at a funeral.
Paul can play a few instruments and yes John can write songs but George gave life to all the Beatles songs by playing that guitar of his.
I have been carefully listening to pieces where his playing tend to bring life to words. Yes words are powerful but without music we would have never got to sing them.
There will be nobody like the Beatles and yes there will not be another John or George.
indeed, it is very common that this happen , like David Gilmour , that was the soul guitar to Pink Floyd, Roger Waters always thought that he was the, but is the collective effort that creates magic.
is it a pedal steel guitar ? love that sound

@xBARFLYx (cont.) As for espousing "love" for George,
you confuse the usual courtesies extended by old men.
Especially if someone has died. In the same way I spend
time thinking about the discordant hypocrisies of George
Harrison, I marvel at the way people like you completely
IGNORE them. Let's not ask what it means for a man who
believes in "KARMA" to be stabbed repeatedly. Then die
of throat cancer. What MUST George have done? Of
course, there IS NO "god"...but you get my point.

@xBARFLY - Behind most broken things is a kind
of apathy. Music suffers from ignorance. I complain
that George W. Bush did serious damage to the
country but the real problem is an apathetic public.
Harrison was a Beatle, therefore (the thinking goes)
his music MUST be relevant. With this kind of think-
ing Ringo must also be a genius? I do not capitalize
my letters when talking to my peers. I only do this
when I think I'm talking to young, texting teens who
quickly SCAN rather than READ.

@xBARFLYx - His FANS who are the problem, not George.
George is dead and hardly complaining anymore). Folks like
you are the driving force behind all market trends. Mediocrities
are the biggest common denominator...Joe Six Pack and his
wife and family. The music industry makes music for YOU, not
for serious music lovers. Little wonder George Harrison is
heard on countless fluffy "SOFT ROCK" music stations. Right
along side ABBA, NEIL DIAMOND AND JOHN DENVER.
Mediocrity is never benign.

Cierto, para mí el mejor album de un ex beatle, por delante de los wings de mcCartney y los dos grandes lps de Lennon.
En fin, es cuestión de gustos.
