  • that's some very funky stuff you are playing! very good indeed! it's a bit of a shame you sold this nice bass, but it you aren't happy enough with it, why keep it?

  • Really nice man. im Looking into one of these basses!

  • Awesome bass playing, my brother! Awesome bass playing, from your fellow bass player, Preacher Warren. Hey if you wanna see some of my bass playing go to my youtube channel or search "Preacher Warren playing the bass under the anointing." You can also check my other videos by searching "Preacher Warren". You can teach me some stuff. Love your stuff.

  • I've watched this video so many times that I have it memorized... LOVE THIS VIDEO

  • I'm deployed right now

  • bruh!!!! your in columbus, ga... i live right here in phenix city. i play keys, we need to team up

  • sounds great! i mean i have only heard it on my little laptop speakers, but to me it sounds really good ! nice!

  • good stuff. what head and cab u coming out of? sounds a little muddy.... did you try using the original pick ups? they dont sound bad you know.... any how keep the works man!

  • That combination sounds a bit compressed but clear. The settings could have been tweeked at different positions to show a little more tonal possibilities however these are good upgrades.

  • you didnt have your settings wrong.. it dosn't sound muddy, this bass sounds sweet. good job man

  • check out knightmayorz channel he has the bass now. its awsome all my setting were bad.

  • use the barts it will sound much better sounds too muddy

  • I HELD THE SAME BASS GUITAR ONE TIME. THOSE THINGS ARE FREAKIN' MASSIVE! IT DWARFED MY STRAT, BUT OTHER THAN THAT MTD'S REALLY GIVE YOU A NICE ''THICK 'N' RICK'' TONE.

  • I replaced my MTD pickups woth EMG DC45's. Different flavor all together. The pre and pickup matching is all about what you want to hear, as long as they fit . The Smiths are a good upgrade.

  • Great sounding bass, I've tried them @ GC in the past. I just can't get past that 35 inch scale though.

  • muddy sound..slap sound not biting enough..fingerpicking is muddy..

    maybe your set up..

  • Like the sound those pickups give .. Be blessed brotha

  • Hey SWEET SOUNDING BASS.....did gorilla guitars do all the make over work on the bass? Cause I'm looking for somebody to do my bass the same way...help a brother out...

  • thumb sounds like a kick drum

  • Wow! Your thumb tecnique is pristine!!!

  • now thats a fucking good bass sound......awsome playing man good job

  • good and funky, nice bass !

  • sound great love the way the bass sound. your style is nice also

  • You're beat-boxing aren't you!?! That's crazy, nice vid!

  • wow is a good combination of color texture in the wood, cool bass guitar

  • wow es buena combinacion de textura del color en la madera ,cool bajo guitarra

  • That was great!

  • Nice playing bro , I think that this is my first time hearing ken smith pickups on a mtd , I don't understand why it kinda sounds like an ibanez or something like that . I shol ain't hating though because I experiment like that to ,

I came to the conclusion when u have a Ken smith just leave it the way it is, likewise with an MTD, then you'll have that phat sound hands down. Keep thumping hard bro.

  • i like bruh

  • Those pickups sound great in your bass. You're a great player too.

  • MTD for life!!!!!!!!!!

  • good sound, excellent finger style. that action looks really low, probably just melts in your hands doesn't it ? lol

  • Sounds good man!!!

  • its awesome man

  • sweet bass, sweet grooves brother

  • Well John, first question is why would you put Smiths on an MTD?and strangely enough it doesn't sound like a Smith or an MTD.That said, the bass does have it's own flavor.Sounds good,we'll give it a thumbs up!!!

  • mtd sounds great for thumping, i got an fender active jazz bass

beautiful noiseless ceramic pickups. I especially love my bridge pickups

i've heard a lot of bass players play from the bridge and the mtd bass

you've just played got excellent bridge output.

  • Well Mrjbass3 great looking bass. great sounding bass. great sounding slap groove. even greater sounding finger style groove> yea

  • hey man sick sound/set up. if been lookin at this bass along with the zx5 but i never put alot of thought in putting my own preamp/pickups in.

  • Sounds brilliant. Good work, beautiful bass, excellent playing.

  • Awesome upgrade!

  • @jbassfunk- who are you again? This bass rocks! What preamp would you recommend?

  • Nice, but you may consider upgrading the preamp to add more color. .

  • Great playing , I use the same bass guitar.

  • not a bass bass at all man

  • I'm thinking of getting this bass b4 the end of the year since I can't afford those custom ones...u think i should wait another 2 years or get this one?

  • Crazy question. Is the same bass I just bought off Ebay a couple days ago?

  • I did sell it a few days ago but I'm not for sure if it was u if it is you will have it today

  • @Mrjbass3 Yep same one. I am enjoying it very much. I appreciate the sell and the quick shipment. I left you a positive feedback on ebay hopefully paypal wasn't holding you money hostage like they do mine.

  • What a coincidence that would be..lol

  • @knightmayorz I see that you bought this bass, saw your videos with you playing it....small world

  • You've got a very nice collection.

  • other than not using the same tonal woods as the smiths, i would recommend replacing the bridge with a hipshot brass bridge and have a luthier slot a brass nut for you. That's where alot of that ken smith sparkle comes from. hope that helps. and that bass sounds sick!

  • Thats a great idea, I'll try that

  • @namuxtree The KZ's use a zero fret so I'm not sure how much a brass nut would help...

  • I had the bass tuned down a whole step, it took some of the smith sound out I was just experimenting

  • Great sounding Bass dude God bless ya!!!!

  • On the higher strings i can hear the typical Smith sound, but lower they disapear sort off

    Nice grooves by the way!!!
