Will these sounds be the same if i put it on a really crapy drum set? Or does the sound quality also change when u have a better drum set? Because im gonna get Fame DD-8000. Im gonna get superior drummer 2.2.1 and Metal foundry. So there is 30 preset drum kits but then i can tweak them or create my own?
@angeriod The samples are the same and will sound identical whether you're using a Fame DD-8000 or a Roland TD-20. The only thing that might be different regarding the audio is the latency, which is the amount of time that passes between hitting a pad and hearing the actual sound playback.
Have u figured out how u can set-up ur cymbal chokes? because when i hold my cy-12 it doesn't send any midi-signal...Am using td-8 module, it supports chokes so if am running my module then choke works fine but its not working with EZ..
any solution? is it even possible to choke the cymbals with EZ / superior?
Hi, i install the superior drummer 2.21 and the first DVD from the metal foundry addon.
I can use the drumkit from the metal foundery, but i cant see the Metal foundery libraries or even see the superior libraries entry in my superior drummer...i only see my old grooves from the ez player .
why?
Have i to install the full 35 gb to see the superior libraries from the metal foundery.
I am planning on triggering e drums with ezdrummer or SD2.0. How do you reduce latency with toontrack solo? Or will I have any latency? My computer has about 350 GB of free hard drive space and about 4 GB RAM. It's pretty fast.
I can't afford SD2.0(I'm going to use EZDrummer and DFH), does ToonTrack Solo support ASIO drivers? If not, will it work with N-Track 5 or do you know?
Toontrack Solo does support ASIO drivers. I use it with SD 2. If you can, I would suggest saving up for SD 2.0 it is much much easier to get working with an e-drum kit. Sorry, I don't have experience with N-Track. Good luck
@adammazza Yes SD can learn notes, Its on the bottom right side it says * LEARN * you click that then hit the note on the drum kit or panio and it will be triggered to that note.
DUDE -- thanks for posting this!!!!!! It is so amazingly helpful -- I had hoped someone would do exactly what you did in this video -- it REALLY helps to hear the sounds...!!!
drums sound great, cymbals still sound a bit electronic on superior, unless there are some settings people are just not using that can make them sound less the same every time.
Yes, they do sound way better in ezdrummer using dfh (at least using midi tracks made by my self with my computer) why? I dont know but Im guessing it has something to do with the humanizer.
E-Drum haters are nuts... This is the future... It doesn't seem like a drum BECAUSE IT'S NOT!!! Is another instrument and it's reaaaally more flexible and versatile...
man it was amazing but i only wish your kit had a heavier sound to it..so when you play those blast beats and do that awesome ass kick pedal thing it would have had a bassier and more hardeer in your face tone. idk if that makes sense but you get me xD
Hi there. Amazing drumming. The presets are sound very good.
Just one question. I've became my copy of TMF a few days ago and installed the full kit. But I can't find where the presets are located. When i browse trough the presets I just see the prebused preset and metal foundry preset. Am I doing something wrong?
Will have to check when I get home, but I believe once you select the Metal Foundry kit, you can select from various mixer presets. There are many there (~30).
I am using an M-audio profire 2626, but other interfaces will work as well. I connect the MIDI out form my TD9 to the MIDI in on the 2626. The 2626 is connected to my PC via firewire. Firewire generally has less latency then USB, BUT you often have to deal with issues like the chipsets on firewire cards. A good rule of thumb is to have a Firewire card with a TI chipset. I have very low latency, ~4ms. I can set the buffer level to 64ms without any issues with clicks, pops, or dropouts.
I am using a quad core Q6600 CPU and have 4G of memory. I also use 2 separate HDs. One for the OS and programs, and one for all the sample data. I don't connect the machine to the internet normally, so I don't have the overhead of AntiVirus sw. I am running WinXP SP3.
Hrm, not sure what you mean by cross talk, that may just be crappy playing :) I don't get much false triggering usually. As mentioned there are a few screwed up MIDI assignments. For example the floor tom rim triggers a cymbal choke.
Thanks, this represents about a third of all the presets. Some I really don't care for (Lesra for example). I still have to go through the rest. Of course it's really hard to tell until you put them in an actual mix.
Yamahas have better looks, but in terms of expansion, app Roland's the very best I think?
well I'm looking for an alternative to tap-drumming on my synth -- not even a controller w heavy keys, so I don't get the best velocity responses I think :(
If you aren't a drummer and are just looking for a more realistic feel than keyboard pads, you could go with something like an SPD-20 (I have a video up of that as well).
You could also look at the Alesis Trigger I/O or Roland TMC-6 and add your own pads. The RET kits use the Alesis.
IMHO, Rolands have better looks, because they have mesh heads. But maybe Dtxtreme 3 sp has the better looking because of its hexrack.
For the expansion, Dtxpress IV module can be expanded up to 4 triggers. TD-4 module can be expanded up to 1 trigger (I think you can add 3 zone chokeable trigger)

You'll want to use SD 2.0 (2.2 is out now). Best way to reduce latency is to make sure you have an audio interface which uses an ASIO driver.

Do you know if EZDrummer can "learn" midi note numbers like SD2.0?
Drummerkid74 2 years ago
Not, it doesn't have the same learn capability. With SD it's pretty simple.

@adammazza Yes SD can learn notes, Its on the bottom right side it says * LEARN * you click that then hit the note on the drum kit or panio and it will be triggered to that note.

I don't think you can with EZdrummer. You would need Superior 2 and it's a function of aftertouch

CY12 - ride
VH11
CY8 - crash
CY8 - crash
CY5 - crash
PD105 - snare
3 x PD85 - toms
KD85 bass brum

I've actually found out why I am not seeing the mixer presets in TMF. Its because I've not installed the Superior v 2.1 update.
Thanks!

How did you connected the TD-6 to Superior? Doesn't have any latency?

Oh the Profire 2626 is way to much for me.
Great equipment you have there.
AIB666 2 years ago
What PC are you using... Latency is not just the interface... Also the power of your PC and how much does it take to produce the MIDI to sound...

Is the Alesis DM5 compatible with superior 2.0?
tanza14 2 years ago
It should be, I do not believe there is a preset MIDI map that's included, but with the "learn" feature it is easy to create your own.

@tanza14 If it has a MIDI out port, then yes

I found it on 1:06 and 2:51. But I've just read your description. All you have to do is tweak it, right?
