If you think this sounds like such a great program, You need to consider at least 1 point: Why is it that the first thing Congress does is exempt themselves from having to be a part of it?...It doesn't apply them. And why did the very groups that supported the bill (i.e. AARP) immediately ask for and get a waiver? . If it's so great, why do they not want to a part of it?
5th, you need to sign the bill to find out what's really in it. Should we solve that by getting government involved, force people to buy insurance under penalty of prison, and call it 'giving them free insurance', or should we provide tax breaks to the charitable organizations providing free medical care to those who can't afford it so they can expand their reach? It's not about whether people should have access to healthcare but whether we want to create criminals or expand freedom.
i have medicare and the service is TERRIBLE, i've had to wait 4 hours at the ER with a dislocated shoulder and no pain medicine just because the nurse had paperwork to do and don't get me started on the crappy service as well, so my question is, will obamacare solve any of the issues i have?

Lies told loud enough and long enough start to be believed. This video does not tell the full truth. Employers will dump their healthcare coverage if this law takes effect. Costs will be double what they are predicting, physicians will quit or retire in droves, you will not be able to find a competent doctor, and if you are lucky enough to receive care, it will be the low quality generic government kind.

Two hospital visits in the last month, a turn down letter for preexisting conditions, and a liver that has started to fail for "unknown" reasons. I'm not opposed to stopping the isurance companies to keep you on your policy when you get sick, and not change your policy when you need it, but no company should have to take you if you're already sick. For example, you insurer can't deny you coverage, and teens can stay on their parents plans for longer. All of my friends from Canada and UK have great health insurance, why can't I have something like they have? They never wait for a treatment, their ER/ hospital vistits are free (I currently owe $15,000) from a hospital bill. The speech fails to explain all of the 2000 + pages of the bill that causes true economic failures and the extreme burdon placed on doctors' ability to give prompt health care. Do you think extending health insurance to children age 26 is for the poor? With the current unemployment rate this is a sham. Recent graduates who work part time do not qualify. Only if they DO NOT WORK at all. That's because if the employer offers insurance, which is required by law with 50 > employees, they must pay out of pocket for far inferior coverage. Whose children take a year off after graduation? Whose children are working part-time to find work? Rich kids get quality health care.

@bond519 Yes I agree. The only way we're going to avoid this same thing is to get the government out of the healthcare business entirely including Medicaid and Medicare. I know it's going to be difficult, but if we start slowly transforming the system, we'll eventually get back to a system where you and your doctor are the only ones involved in your healthcare. Insurance would only be used when you're hospitalized or have long term chronic conditions, etc.

Costs will be double what they are predicting, physicians will quit or retire in droves, you will not be able to find a competent doctor, and if you are lucky enough to receive care, it will be the low quality generic government kind.

Employers will do what they want to do regardless if healthcare was passed or not. In long run, THEY HAVE to provide healthcare otherwise people will not work for them, it's that simple. It's not included in this video, but if you read the plan, the costs will go up 2014-2017, then start to reduce.

Someone like myself who falls through the cracks; cannot afford insurance nor does my employer supply insurance and I do not qualify for any programs in California. Two hospital visits in the last month, a turn down letter for preexisting conditions, and a liver that has started to fail for "unknown" reasons. I am for the health reform if it is what it says it is, however, it is hard to believe.

I'm not opposed to stopping the isurance companies to keep you on your policy when you get sick, and not change your policy when you need it, but no company should have to take you if you're already sick. @bond519 The Affordable Health Care Law cannot possibly make anything worse because you can stay on your current coverage. However, it does make all coverage better. For example, you insurer can't deny you coverage, and teens can stay on their parents plans for longer. I still haven't seen any proof or quotes from the law that say the Affordable Health Care Law will lead to any negatives as far as health care.

Just like medicare (government ran) if you like it then you can get on it, if not then you can find private insurance...works the same way. My current insurance did NOT tell me "well in 2014 you have to drop us and go to a government plan".

They never wait for a treatment, their ER/ hospital vistits are free (I currently owe $15,000) from a hospital bill. Great speech, very articulate and has great ideas. Unfortunately, none of the ideas ring true in the actual plan. The speech fails to explain all of the 2000 + pages of the bill that causes true economic failures and the extreme burdon placed on doctors' ability to give prompt health care. This plan forces those who prefer not to be covered into the health care plan. This plan covers the costs of abortions.
Sadly, no one who voted for this plan knew everything that was included in the plan.

Do you think extending health insurance to children age 26 is for the poor? With the current unemployment rate this is a sham. Recent graduates who work part time do not qualify. Only if they DO NOT WORK at all. That's because if the employer offers insurance, which is required by law with 50 > employees, they must pay out of pocket for far inferior coverage. Whose children take a year off after graduation? Whose children are working part-time to find work? Rich kids get quality health care.

@bond519 Yes I agree. The only way we're going to avoid this same thing is to get the government out of the healthcare business entirely including Medicaid and Medicare. I know it's going to be difficult, but if we start slowly transforming the system, we'll eventually get back to a system where you and your doctor are the only ones involved in your healthcare. Insurance would only be used when you're hospitalized or have long term chronic conditions, etc.

However, any country whose government takes money from one group of people (through taxes) and gives it to another (read redistribution of wealth) practices socialist ideologies. Their GDP per capita is 32% lower than the US. All these things lead to a lower standard of living and poverty for the people of Spain. If things are as bad as they are here, Spain is worse off. We have the most people now on food stamps in the history of our country. Spain is worse off than us.
