Single shot is where after firing a round, you have to eject the casing and load a new one, mainly on bolt actions. Semi is when a round is fired for every one pull of the trigger. Wel technically push of the trigger. Firing on burst is a last resort when you need to put as many rounds down range as possible. It shouldn't be used for anything else. Try it in combat.
