  • how did you do the `trip`twigs?

  • Is this leagal? because i'm pretty sure its against the law to trap pheasants

  • @multiplepets read the description

  • i was wondering if you can catch ruff grouse, have you ever did before?

  • If you must fend for yourself in the wild, for whatever reason, make one of the hundreds of "instant death" i.e. humane traps. One day you might find yourself in a unescapable situation, just like that pheasant, in your day-to-day life. Have some f'kn empathy.

  • @tinderfungus Like a figure 4 deadfall trap or something similar? Would that work on a pheasant?..Hmmm birds tend to be sort of wary of anything that's out of the ordinary but I guess you could always camoflage the rock with moss or grass..

  • really cool dude

  • wow u actually got one im impressed

  • i love all this guys videos they are really good and usefull too

  • xd

  • the berries u used looked like rose hips, animals love em full of vitamin C and we can eat them but a bit fuzzy inside and don't taste the best lol

  • thanks alot im hoping to video this in action and if i do i will credit u and tell them that if they want to kno how to build the trap to look on ur page. thanks again.

  • im watching this to catch a crow and to train it to do what i want!!!

  • some pheasant :) fake

  • this works with a cat?

  • i used a plastic box and i caught a cat, but I had to let it go.

  • im a pheasant hunter and im trying this when we go to hunt this year

  • I commented on this video, before, about how to harvest the bird without harming it. I received an email, thank you sir, informing me as to use a stick to hold it's head down & poke hard enough to kill it, as it would be hard to eat, flopping around on my plate. This would be true, if I was going to eat the bird. My interest in building the trap wouold be strictly for breeding purposes. I like the trap design and the video, and it's principal. Thanks.

  • The berries are rose hips. High in vitamin c and probably nearly as nutritious as the pheasant! (Not as filling though...) Best as a tea.

  • that was bad ass

  • that was bad ass

  • would this work with a figure four deadfall trigger to catch small mammals?

  • Nice video! Question: After catching the wild bird or squirrel, how would you harvest it from inside the trap, to cage it, to take it with you? A wild bird will peck the crap out of you, especially since it's cornered & scared! It feels fear & the need for freedom! My Father used to say, it's real easy to catch a squirrel, but it's really hard to let one go! How to harvest an animal from the trap, is my question. Would you possibly do a video on the harvesting of an already captured animal?

  • @MrPicStuff my guess would be to take a stick and hold its head down while u lift the trap, on redards of it pecking you I would imagine if you jammed that stick hard enough into the bird it should kill it, if you were wondering about how to do it and keep the bird alive I don't know why you would wanna do that because it would be very hard to eat with it trying to fly around on your plate

  • did you keep the bird as a pet?

  • nice bird traps

    thanx

  • thats animal cruelty ... he left it in there so long it changed seasons ;P

  • Great to see survival traditions like this being passed on utube needs more of these informative vids, well done to the uploader!!

  • @markfrv does it really fuckin matter you tit it caught a pheasant didnt it

  • I catch my pheasants with blowing up the whole forest

  • i'm looking for a simple trap to catch quail

  • i overall liked this video and i am going to try it some times. Though i would like to know some alternative baits to use

  • this is simple and effective, nice work :) what other bait would you reccomend and what kind of berries were they?

  • thats awsome

  • By far best live trap

  • Wow, that trigger mechanism is super simple! Do you have problems with it setting off on its own? Like from the trigger slipping? I am looking for traps that might work for wild turkeys...do you think this would work?

  • good trap got to say

  • hey brad

    what bird is that?

    pretty cool huh!

  • i forgot to subscribe danget!

  • could i just stick some corn on with string ? like put the needle on the end of sum string and thred the corn down then tie it on the stick

  • those are some really good idea`s thanks. :D i have this crow im my yard that wakes me up really early every morning.

  • those are some really good idea`s thanks

  • you just let dinner go

  • "Harvested." Is that the term Joseph Goebbels used to tell the Germans what happened to all the "sub-humans" that the Nazis were taking away?

  • Is it this trap heavy enough to prevent an escape when the bird is struggling to get away?

  • ahh why did you let the bird go? i used to make these traps back when i lived in Brazil, they're pretty cool.

  • thanks you helped me very much :)))) im from croatia and i catch pheasants

  • If you're going to use all those tools, why not just buy a pheasant. - Or shoot one.

  • 2:17 what if i dont want to put my berries in the little slit

  • do you thing a trap like this will hold a rabbit??

  • dinner time

  • would the second trap be good for traping say black squirrels? im thinking they would be able to crawl through the walls and the roof

  • the berries look like rome sort of rose species (Rosa) but there are so many, especially since they may have interbred with cultivated varieties, it's hard to know for sure...

  • what are thats for bears !

  • Would the 1st one work for a squirrel?If so,what bait,(Besides acorns)

  • @VegasMedia Peanut butter works well...wild mushrooms work well too.

  • @northernpike56 Thanks

  • @northernpike56 yeah

  • @northernpike56 What about foxes?

I think that by making it bigger and using some chicken meat you could get a fox....

    Someone answer please

    Thanks

  • @VegasMedia No squirrel will dig out within 30 seconds and are very strong on top of that. They are tricky to catch live without a standard trap. Snares are a better bet.

  • @VegasMedia No squirrel will dig out within 30 seconds and are very strong on top of that. They are tricky to catch live without a standard trap. Snares are a better bet.

  • @VegasMedia a squirrel would probably just bite trough the net or wood and escape

  • @VegasMedia probably not because most squirrels will just dig themselves out

  • @VegasMedia peanuts ... they sure love peanuts :)

  • @VegasMedia lol acorns haah

  • imagine the relief of the poor bird when it was allowed to regain its freedom

  • Realy cool trap but what kind of wildlife can you catch in the box trap?

  • THX VERY MUCH FOR THE TIPS U WONT BELIEVE BUT I MADE IT A LITTLE BIGER AND IN MY MOUNTAIN AND I CATCHED AN FALCON IT WAS A LITTLE SMALL THE FALCON AND NOW IT IS GROWN AND IT IS MY THX TOO U I CATHCED IT WITH THE SECOND WAY OF THE TRAP BUILDING THX VERY MUCH MY FALCON NOW IT IS A VERY GOOD HUNTER I TRAINED HIM LEARNING IN YOUTUBE

  • Or,, you could just shoot a pheasant! Way to much effort for a "maybe" chance at catching one.

  • Rose buds

  • I like the trigger, so simple. A lot easier to make and set up than the figure 4.

  • holy crap howd u make that net?

  • i just made one! not near as good as yours and slightly modifyed buy its pretty awesome 5/5 =D thanks man

  • or you could just buy a wooden box

  • lol stupid bird mauahahahah!

  • my nails won't go through the wood!

  • that is awesome!!!

  • cool---I bet pheasant is good and tasty

  • @micmoable it is

  • good trap

  • excellent video, THANX!

  • they look like rosehips, but the resolution makes it hard to tell.

You can remove the seeds and make tea with them, or eat them (again without seeds) if you're desperate.

  • hey!!! i made the second version of the trap ( the one with all wood) and it took me a few hours to make but its awesome!!! it was worth it cause its heavier so their is no way a bird could lift it, and wen i go deer hunting this fall, i pass by a pheasant feild and if i dont get a deer, i will have pheasants!

  • U DONT CATCH THAT ONE ANY MORE

  • FAMALE

  • GOOD TRAP

  • what is the best bait?

  • what type of flexible limbs are you using. . . birch, pine, ceader, elm?

  • i was looking for a clever trap.

i could have thought of this myself !!

  • Good job man ....good video....

  • where sould i put the trap on a pinch that it starts to grow alot of long grass and small trees and shrubs up in the wood or in the wood where its like you know normal grown forest ? plz help me and its a verry nice trap you made. and what bait they want most ? =) i like your videos +++++

  • mice!! i really like this video but why did you relesed that last bird?

  • in a desperate situation, you could also weave some sort of improvised cordage between the supports to act as a escape barrier, but I personally like the arapuca bird trap better.

  • Linkin Logs!

  • i belive those are cat tail berries. they taste very good with some salt

  • @legomanre cat tail? as in the big plant that grows in streams? If I rmember right, those don't grow berries, but a sausage-looking seed pack up at the top of the reed.

  • that theres pretty tight!

  • cool

  • thats excellent, cud u do a video on catching birds of prey?

  • @SuperVeshi Birds of prey- Maybe the obijawa bird trap with a dead squirrel as bait? -look the trap up. its a perch with a counter wait snare

  • where can i get some netting like you use?

  • thankyou thankyou thankyou !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i catch my pheasent with a shotgun

  • @RubixB0y hehe me to the best way to catch them =)

  • @RubixB0y XD

  • @TJ36583658 Yes he does

  • where did you get that net from? =)

  • were do pheasants live in the country

  • does this work for squrils

  • could u use anything else besides neting

  • birds are idiots but nice method im gonna try it out my self

  • can i use a box too? that has holes 2?

  • Wow man, this just opened up a whole new avenue for me. Loads of doves, chickens, and pheasants out here in Hawaii.

  • man your so awesome! my other traps i made wouldnt work and so far this is the best how to make a bird trap video on youtube!

  • a very nice snare will it work on ducks?

  • can it be used for birds and and squirrels???

  • look like rose hips?

  • just made one this trap last night all of little logs, showed my daughter how to set the trigger up, and within an hour we had a hegehog.

going to make a few and take them out into the bush this weekend and see what will be caught.

  • nice video man

  • you from nova scotia?

  • could you catc other small game with this like squirrels. Oh and great trap

  • do they taste good?........... jk

  • ty so much for the great tips! 5 stars

  • greetings northernpike56

i want to ask how heavy the frame has got to be. doesen't look like yours is very heavy so i think that there is a chance for the bird to get out by lifting it. did you notice the birds trying to lift it up, or are they just chaotically jumping around in it?

  • They can be weighted down with rocks or something simular...I did lose a cock (male pheasant) during the making of this video...it didn't flip it over while jumping, it poked it's head under and escaped.

  • @fedaikn @primitivebushskills I am looking for a mechanical engineer and a doctor to join our "Colony" for only $5,000 you get to be part of the colony and 1/2 acre with water to live on. • I'm definitely going to try this in the Fall. I usually only get a couple of grouse each season, but that's just because I can't see the darn things. I bet I can get a lot more this way, without even having to leave my property.

  • very nice video man i am going to try and catch a few grouse here pretty soon

  • soooooooo cooooooool

  • This music makes me think of Crockett and Tubbs and them hot Miami nights

  • Me and my friend just caught one today! :D

  • @Mrmangoleg

    right on :-)

  • @northernpike56 greetings, I'm new to this and id like to give it a try, though i must ask, what is the ideal weight of the box traps? and which out of the two (net, or full wood ) are guaranteed much more successful?

  • Those berries are Wild Rose Berries! there also poisonous too!

  • I've been trying to cath this muskrat pooping in my pool,so i tried to figure 4 deadfall but its 2 hard for me.I never you could do this.i am an idiot

  • @RandomSubscrib3r by a live trap

  • i never knew u could make this kind of trap !!!

    sweet man!!!

  • Out of all bird traps I've seen, this one i have to say is the best due to that nothing injures the bird what's so ever, and not only that, :) you let the bird go with out torturing it. Some people tend to hurt them; amazing, i wish bird catchers would do this type of traps rather than the dangerous ones.

  • @kairi292 The reason most traps injure the bird, is because they are meant for survival and getting food.

  • @l1nuxun1l True, but I'm stating the ones that people tend to just catch for fun and torture them. those are the ones im talking about.

  • @kairi292

you know you eat pheasants right....

  • @FuriousPixel I'm more of a person who eats chickens rather than pheasants

  • @TechNovable

    ok?

  • I like this one. Where do I get netting?
