Cung Le is a great kickboxer....he would get murdered in the UFC though. Especially if he fights in the MW division. His ideal weight class would be welterweight and even then top guys there could take him out fairly easily. Has anybody seen him do jujitsu or even wrestle?

For example an MMA fighter may have a black belt in BJJ (ground fighting), black belt in TKD (stand up) and maybe exp in boxing...

@VulcanZoar Jet Li trained in modern Wushu and he was amazing, this is very different from traditional Kung fu. Having trained Wushu along with other Martial arts myself, I can tell you that WUSHU has no martial application - it's more like dance or show forms.
I even saw an interview with Jet Li filming cradle to the grave where he openly said that the UFC fighters he was training with would destroy him
@wushuollie Wushu is made up of many different traditional styles that have been combined that there is a standard to go by. Chang Quan is the "pretty" stuff, but you also have nan quan which is built from all the same basics of Hung Gar (Hong Jia) and Choy Lee Fut (Tsai Li Fo) both of which were intended for combat. Even Chang Quan, the core of modern wushu, is based on Shaolin and 4 others styles and the movements have not been altered that much from the traditional versions.
I'm fully aware of all these facts (having studied it for a very long time). However, Jet Li only studied Northern Wushu. And didn't spend much time (if any) in combat drills or sparring. So he would be no use in a fight against an mma fighter. Bruce Li however, was a completely different matter. He would "probably" have kept up with the majority of the lightweights / welterweights.
@wushuollie I figured you were; my comment was meant more for others that may not really know what modern wushu is. As far as Jet goes, he says right on his website that he never did any sanda training. I don't think it even existed outside of the military when he was learning wushu. He also learned Fanxi Quan (a northern style) that looks quite functional as a martial art, he just never learned to use it, as I think learning to fight at that time was frowned upon was it not?

Jet Li was a modern wushu guy, he himself said he never sparred or fought a day in his life because he flat out says that's not why he does wushu. Not only that, he said if he fought one of those UFC "gorillas", he would get knocked out in seconds. Cung Le is a sanshou fighter, not a taolu performer like Jet Li... in other words he can actually fight.

It's not right to say Cung is a legend yet. Yeah my statement was a little premature. I do think though that his life has been prolific thus far. He's accomplished a lot. He's always had great kicks and throws. Ufc is like one of the most hardcore sports u can be in cuz the fighters aren't fighters like Kienmann222 they're even more better at smart, tacticful, techniques,stamina and the fight itself... Cung Le would beat most normal people alright.... even if he did fight real life he still win and goes even more hardcore cause he will be angry at it and literally brake his opponent bone.

Yeah, dozens. When he was ten, when he was 13, when he was in high school, when he was a teen, a grown adult, challenges left and right, ego's and masters here and there. Bruce doesnt publicize them, cause he's not an arrogant bragger, he knows what he can do, he knows what he's done. If U go to the wikipedia ,of all places, it list some of his verified incidents. If you think it is real, then try to do some of the things in a movie in UFC like backflip. Even Jet Lee says when he come in the movie with UFC fighter that he is just an actor. He cannot beat these UFC guys. They are real fighters. Jumping off building and fliping off your head and doing backflip have no place in UFC.

Man u do know to do MMA you HAVE to have specialties or what you call "worthless black belts in wushu and taekwondo and whatever else is out there" before you can compete...
Hence MMA stands for MIXED MARTIAL ARTS???
For example an MMA fighter may have a black belt in BJJ (ground fighting), black belt in TKD (stand up) and maybe exp in boxing...
I'd know because i'm doing MMA, i've got my black 1 dan in TKD and 5 years of wrestling and boxing...

@VulcanZoar Jet Li trained in modern Wushu and he was amazing, this is very different from traditional Kung fu. Having trained Wushu along with other Martial arts myself, I can tell you that WUSHU has no martial application - it's more like dance or show forms.
I even saw an interview with Jet Li filming cradle to the grave where he openly said that the UFC fighters he was training with would destroy him

@wushuollie Wushu is made up of many different traditional styles that have been combined that there is a standard to go by. Chang Quan is the "pretty" stuff, but you also have nan quan which is built from all the same basics of Hung Gar (Hong Jia) and Choy Lee Fut (Tsai Li Fo) both of which were intended for combat. Even Chang Quan, the core of modern wushu, is based on Shaolin and 4 others styles and the movements have not been altered that much from the traditional versions.

I'm fully aware of all these facts (having studied it for a very long time). However, Jet Li only studied Northern Wushu. And didn't spend much time (if any) in combat drills or sparring. So he would be no use in a fight against an mma fighter. Bruce Li however, was a completely different matter. He would "probably" have kept up with the majority of the lightweights / welterweights.

@wushuollie I figured you were; my comment was meant more for others that may not really know what modern wushu is. As far as Jet goes, he says right on his website that he never did any sanda training. I don't think it even existed outside of the military when he was learning wushu. He also learned Fanxi Quan (a northern style) that looks quite functional as a martial art, he just never learned to use it, as I think learning to fight at that time was frowned upon was it not?

Jet Li was a modern wushu guy, he himself said he never sparred or fought a day in his life because he flat out says that's not why he does wushu. Not only that, he said if he fought one of those UFC "gorillas", he would get knocked out in seconds. Cung Le is a sanshou fighter, not a taolu performer like Jet Li... in other words he can actually fight.

Bruce lee could do things most even today can't even come close to in comparison, if he was fighting today and was in his prime i could not imagine what MMA would be like, I doubt it would be the basic, stand up, after a while go to the ground buisness, but much more electric. Cung Le is an amazing person though, a true familyman, more people should look up to him.

It's not right to say Cung is a legend yet. He's good, I'll give him that, but he's yet to prove the things Uyeshiba, Bruce Lee, Masahaki Kimura and the other great masters have achieved and demonstrated. Not hating. I believe Cung could do so much better than what he's doing, there's not many who have challenged his level. He needs to step up and prove to those who don't believe his abilities, prove that he's got more to offer in the octagon.

Yeah my statement was a little premature. I do think though that his life has been prolific thus far. He's accomplished a lot. He's always had great kicks and throws. I don't know if he was trying to lure Mike Altman in but in their mma fight i thought his kicks looked good but they needed to be a little quicker. Anyway, his hands are improvign vastly. He's understanding what one needs to do to cultivate knockout power, and he's happy with the results.
