  • Reminds me of a delivery I had to make in New Jersey..only tighter and more cross traffic on the street....

  • How is long this trailer ?thanks.

  • WOW! The car did not crowd him or honk. Not even a finger. Also look at all the help the business was providing to get into the dock.

  • nice driving. here in australia we usually have the trailer axles right up the back and use very short wheelbase trucks..... which means you can put the same size trailer in that dock soooooo much easier. we put 26 metre long b doubles (two trailers this size) into finger docks (2 inches either side) so the forklift can unload from the side at warehouse level... with little more than the lenght of the truck to get it in...........

Not saying anyone is better just explaining something different.

  • i had loading dock like this in nebraska they are a bitch if ya dont know what your doing but good video

  • @Tyler193 Hi Tyler .

    Thanks for the compliment .

    I am Parisian , former common carrier . I left Europe in 2003 & I live in California .

    I used a Canon camera , 6megapixels (no HD)

  • @raunet

parisian ?

    see ya

  • thats an easy task for an experimented driver, here i mexico they ask you to do the same movement, but with a huge quantity of trafic waiting for you to move, in mexico buldings are much worse designed than there, and triying to park a truck into a dock is a heroic action. bytheway, that trucker became famous and he didnt even notice

  • I have to back into crap like this all the time. The design standards for most US cities are based on 170 inch wheelbase Cabover tractors pulling 24 to 28ft pup trailers. My son is a civil engineer and showed me the guidelines. Less docks = bigger buildings, bigger buildings = more tax money. My Volvo 780 has a 241 inch wheel base and I always have a 53ft trailer. To get more trucks OFF the road the DOT/NHTSA have proposed 60ft trailers with 100K lbs gross, Goodluck with that in a alley dock.

  • skills

  • i would of had some kind of lift to put on the back of the trailer to slide it over some or wider doors

  • Now load into the middle bay.

  • es un rookie parkeando

  • 1 thing. why are all the docks in usa like that ? dude, you guys got heaps of space :L

  • THIS is how you back a rig up! Nicely done...

  • how did you get this camera angle?

a lot of docks in LA are like this

    well done BRO....

  • @yourinurine2 I was on the 6th street bridge ....

  • Real good. Especially with that Classic XL having the exhaust beside the doors. Which is impossible to see around when backing. Had to do that with the mirrors alone, since I didn't see the driver's door open. Some drivers will stand outside the truck, on the side step and steer it.

  • minus 1 pint ...had to do a pull up:)

  • wow i was thinking of maybe doing this as a career change (gettin into trucking for the first time) but this looks intimidating. having to do that

  • Certify good.

  • Man... thats one nasty door.

  • awesome job

  • Sweet, Nice job.

  • wow this is art

  • wow pretty good. look at the wheel base of his truck, compared to the daycab that's beside him. bravo

  • 18 to get a cdl to drive in ur own state 21 to be able to leave the state

  • Dude this sucks bad... I know where there are some of these nightmares in Denver

Excellent driving skills. Really hard with the crappy turning radius of a pete.

  • Don't know about this place, but a lot of times the warehouses were built when trucks were pulling shorter trailers. Chicago is notorious for these types of places.

  • I deliver that area all the time. My terminal is off of 7th street and Decatur right behind the downtown LA Greyhound bus station, SGS Produce. Try backing in like that at 2 am in the morning while crackheads are hanging off the side of your truck and impatient Taxi drivers keep trying to sneak around you....fuq my life lol

  • Hell ya that's good backing. A Freightliner XL which has a long wheel base a 53' trailer in a tight ass dock that top it off to be a blind dock where you can't see shit and it's dark inside so you can't see anything in your mirrors either. Kudo's!

  • it is to eazy to get a licence to drive a car, i want to make the class F harder than the C.D.L. you have to be 21 to get a C.D.L, so after 6 years of in a car, get a C.D.L if you choose. but you WILL HAVE the knowlege and respect of whats on the road w you!!!!!! and if you cant speak english YOU FAIL!!!!!!

  • @jrcbfun you can get a cdl in california at 18

  • what else is new? we get this all the time. next another truck will dock right beside him and he will have to wait hours to be able to leave. keep up the good work out there drivers.

  • If he would have his front wheels turned BEFORE he backs up or does his pull ups, he be able to use his space way more efficiently. I ran LA for 12 years, they have some really sucky docks. He did pretty good over all though.

  • There are steering wheel holders and then there are PROFESSIONAL drivers. Nice job.

  • Try New Jersey if you want old small docks!

  • I love these Damn Companies that have docks designed in the 30's when trucks were small, and they never updated the design, or the deal with nothing but delivery vans, yet they expect the same service and 10 times the volume form big trucks. They put everything including all responsibility on the drivers, and expect you to get the job done. Yet they never go through the "expense" or hassle of creating and environment, suited to their business. Truckers should refuse to deliver there.

  • Agreed. I would have gone for a diagonal design to make it easier on the truck drivers.

  • very good good job !

    enjoy.

    :)

  • one more time.. that truck will ejaculate..

  • thats skill

  • Reason #347 to stay out of LA: Those hidden docks are a nightmare.

  • jebany......

  • Damn that is a very tight space

  • Damn, much respect. Too say that was a tight squeeze is an understatement, but the driver took his time and did it right. Skills

  • ...you've done that before, i can tell...

  • the 4 wheeler(car) is probaly thinking hmm i can do a better job then that in my pickem up

  • try it with a 379 pete with a 290 wb

  • Just thank God it was on his good side!! lol

  • I hate this dock> I havd done 6 like this! Long island is the worst for them but not like that one ! Go BIG MAN!

  • With a Classic XL. That is some good damn trailor truckin'

  • damn good driver.

  • good job!!!!!!!!!!!

  • NICE JOB !!! cause if u notice, the exaust stacks are right behinde the door. So u cant see shit when backing up. U have to climb half out of the window to see. GREAT JOB SIR

  • wow he did this with a sleeper cab as well nice job...

  • very good job the architect should have his head examined or be drug tested

  • nice job! respect man

I drive aroud in holland /amsterdam

but whe dont have it that bad!

  • Hi I drove articulated trucks in the UK for many years your video's of the rig reversing into that GARAGE IS TRULY BRILLIANT i thought our trucks were big but yours have massive engines up front and much longer trailers than we had, id you know the driver send him my congratulations from Kelvin Curtis in Istead Rise Kent England

  • nice job in a hell of a spot.

  • @cadillacdude1975 Thanks for your comment my friend .

I do not know the truckdriver , the company is Express Transport (San Diego) California .

The dock is in Los Angeles , I'm French , in the usa since 2003 .

  • great work,,,,,, what a driver............. now come to Australia and drive a real truck,,,,,, two, or maybe even three trailers. Google "roadtrains australia".

  • I HATE docks like this! The docks are desighnd for little 20-30ft strait trucks and the owners expect a 70+ foot truck to fit in there? This dock sucks but Ive been to worse.

  • Remidns me of Safeway in Denver, CO. Not meant for a 53' trailer. I have seen worse in 'San Francisco though.

  • Nice job! I used to get docks like that in Miami back in the day but we only had 48 footers back then.

  • yeah notice how they have the day cab in the easy side and the highway tractor struggling to get in. Thumbs up to the driver kick in the nuts to the designers

  • trucker: these s.o.b architects can't do a damn thing right, i hope his daughter and mother die, no no better i run over them, yes yes that would be awesome

  • goood work. that would take me alot longer time

    for me to do

  • Hats off to the driver. Another example of a professional in action.

I can't tell you how many times I have seen these kind of stupid setups. People responsible should be ashamed but they probably do not even care. This shows just how much hidden skills there are in the working man's world and how stupid the "suits" can be.

  • What pisses you off is you do all that and forget to open your doors....lol. Done that before.

  • I can't tell you te number of places I have had to back into like this... The peole who design these just care about the building owners and figure the drivers can "just deal with it".. I really don't mind cause I just take my time get in the dock and if it holds up raffic for a half hour who care.. I don't.. As long as I don't damage anything I am happy..

  • Man, with a Freighliner classic no less. People who design this crap should be made to back in to it first. So many things like this in cities.

  • Now, that's impressive.

  • Much RESPECT. If you can back in a classic you know how to drive it has a long wheel base and real fun to drive.

  • im in tractor trailer school right now and you will never see me do that, lol, huge respect!

  • @furiouscruzer then you should seriously rethink what you're getting yourself into. pain in the ass docks like this aren't common, but you WILL have to deal with them from time to time.

  • @XxGyromancerXx you should seriously rethink your comments, im not paying $7,000 to go threw training just to change my mind

  • @furiouscruzer i hope that's a typo. if it isn't, you're being ripped off. $7,000 is TOO MUCH. once you have your cdl, there's no guarantee you'll be able to get a job. the "driver shortage" is nothing but a farce. there never was one to begin with, and the trucking industry is not booming. i won't be surprised you end up defaulting on that student loan. at any rate, good luck!

  • @XxGyromancerXx no not a typo, maybe theres a shortage in the USA but not here in canada, so far everyone i met in my classes have jobs already, some of them before they finished school, and i went for the best package thats why it was $7,000, and no loans, paid cash

  • @furiouscruzer - given time, you can.. just don't get flustered and work the issue. When people get flustered, that is things break.

  • @bfrance2002 oh ya im sure with time, experance will do me well, but not anytime soon, lol

  • Better there in a back ally, then on a busy street in Chicago. Still give him respect because that's a freightliner classic. I'm sure the wheel base sucks!

  • Backing Allways is Danger!!!!!

  • Good job. Too bad you weren't in that day cab next to you. lol All these old places were set up for 40' trailers and bobtails.

  • In Germany the trucks are shorter but there are situations like that, too. Its good to be able to drive and in my opinion this guy is it. Sorry for my bad english.

I wish you all a mery chrismas!

    Keep on trucking!

  • good backing job but he should've got out of the truck and check his clearence..

  • Comment removed

  • I've done many a similar back in my years and it can be a bitch.. long or short wheelbase but the dude did and didn't tear anything up....

  • That's the problem with those Long nose trucks like this one, I have a shorter wheel base making that manuvering job a little bit easier. |'ve seen a lot of guys with similar trucks have a hell of a time

  • man i would hate to load/unload over there

much props to the wheel man

  • cudos to that driver..i think we all know what its like after an 11 hour shift to find some dock doors like that..tore up from the floor up!

  • LOL

  • Good job!

It must be hard with the overhang you have on your trailers adding extra "swing" at the rear.

Not to mention such a long nose lol.

Just as well it wasn't blindside!

Now THAT would have been a nightmare!!

  • Who is the retard that designed this place, the truck driver did a great job parking that trailer in the building.

  • Many older docks were made at the time for 45' trailers now the 53' they have now.

  • Epic fail on the designers side pat on the bak for the driver

  • someone must have used a cad program to build the warehouse... maybe someone should have drove a truck first.....

  • Yeah, I don't get why shippers make dock set ups like that

  • lol i see the dam problem right now . that semi rig is to freaking big . should have used the little one. to the right.

  • What a dumb layout for a shipping dock. it's like they want to have trucks do damage trying to dock. a lot of these architechs are really ignorent of the real world.

  • @kdraper2007 The docks were built befor the '53 trailer came along. Many docks were made for '40 ft traailers with cabovers pulling them, not a 70 ft tractor trailer combo.

  • @kdraper2007 thats not even tight been there its gravy if u know what ur doing

  • wow, and hes drivin a classic too.

  • all part of the gig .. I've had to sneak into some hard to reach places like that .. just need confidence in yourself and trust you skill ... but someone to swamp you in would be nice and could be trouble if your bogies are all the way to the back.

  • id like to see a swift truck back in there lmfao! i would pay to see that actually hahhaha nice job though

  • They dont like making things easy that s ridiculus, if your on your good side its ok, blind side sucks

  • I just don't see what the big deal is

  • its the driver's skill

  • Duh!! That's how we keep our jobs. Still don't see the big deal.

  • Shit! that truckers got some skill! :D

  • Why should this be any problem !?! Things like this is common for every truck driver in Norway. Check out what truck drivers who drives over norwergian mountains have to go thru:

  • Nå er ikke Trollstigen et sted hvor trailere har noe og gjøre. Og vi har biler som er bygd for slike forhold.

Tror ikke dette er så enkelt som du vil ha det til.

  • Brukte bare Trollstigen som eksempel. Norske veier er jo vestens desidert dårligste, så en amerikansk yrkessjåfør ville blitt svett. Norske varemottak er jo også stort sett sparsomelige, noe enhver erfaren sjåfør vet.

  • This is coming from a truck driver. Not that good, any skilled driver could do it.

  • Great job.

  • like to see him getting out

  • He's not even touching the sides, so how is his wife going to feel him? :P

  • wow!!! good driver

  • gotta luv the lwb trucks with sf axles

  • I bet it was a lot harder getting it out!!!!

  • Sweet!!!

  • Alright so we should be seeing a demonstration of you doing this, since you seem to be the expert? X_x

  • And who's to say there weren't obstacles inside the building to complicate the docking?

  • wow :) how is that even possible!

  • It is much more better than those stupid woman driver

  • wow hes got skillz

  • You can see him at 40 seconds in the vid.

  • Great backing But he did have a spoter backing him in.

  • We all know that was a tough back with a long nose. Great job!

  • The eagle has landed. Good job brother

  • quality driving

  • ive changed my mind, no way would he have got into tho yard over the road. good skills that man.

  • he is sat on the left so its not a blind side reverse tho it is tight. im a trucker and the best thing to do would have maybe driven into the yard over the road and reversed straight back

  • you know what, he did it hes good

  • what makes me mad is this docks, why not make a littel bit more room. i see new stores beeng bild and ther docks are small and from a blind spot

  • damn that was really good

  • Good job.

Scared me a few times, but he knew his clearances and stopped before going too far.

    Got it without a spotter.

I would have gotten out to check a few times.

  • very very good driver,

  • He did pretty good considering all of his frontal obstructions and the fact he's got a truck known for a crappy turning radius. I wouldn't have gotten it in there that quickly - and my truck is a bit shorter and has a better turning radius. He's got some skill. I would have asked for a spotter and turned it into an all day affair.

  • nothing wrong with that...

  • i been there before that place is a mother fucker to get backed into

  • these ppl say shit he can do it if he was blind y he talking this shit is hard i drive a truck u should see itss harrd

  • can somebody explain to me, why do US trucks have so long axlebacis, and why is the rear axle always placed at the rearest place? it must be a nightmare to do a uturn with that big radius. in europe, they use much closer and narrower construction that allows slick manouver of the truck. just wonder. but still a good job on a tight fit

  • because it looks sexy..european trucks look like shit..your cars are a differnt story though

  • good job

  • some mexican must have desined that dock

  • So, whats the deal? i can do it from the blind side if its necesary and i am "Mexican" Los gabachos son unos brutos para manejar.

  • dam good job backing it in

  • Imagine he had to go in # 2. I had once a mexican bitch she won't unload till is parked in # 2. Hate mexicans till now.

  • ..Dude, i've been in positions where they wont load/unload until i get into a certain spot as well, and one of the hardest to park in. Usually, its a white guy/girl, and i dont hate them. Stop being so delicate/ignorant.

  • ill say 2 things

    1. freight liner classic extened hood.

2.53 foot trailer, wheels slid all the way in.

    3.excellent.

    did I say 2, yes I did.

  • if a lexus can automatically parallel park itself there should be a truck builder willing to apply a more advanced approach to this type of situation. i think the driver did good.

  • I give him kudos. That was a hard back. Given, i've seen harder. that one was up there on the to 10 hardest i've seen

  • WOW. dont the people who design these buildings care about what that driver has to do to get inside the damn thing? The people who built that must not be the brightest bulb on the christmas tree. ppl must have a amazing patience to do this

  • No they don't. I hate the docks that are inside. Once your trailer goes in you are blind. Some have yellow lights/reflectors on the dock wall to line up your trailer but you can't see them till your strait. The one's that dock too trailers per door really drive me nuts cuz It's very easy to pop the trailer next to ya. A new building near home has a horrible dock with a blind back in with a fence right at the point you want to swing your tractor and I was told dock space is the lowest priority

  • Now 1 year later stil driving, for the same company, and i never took my two week notice back. so every time i get pissed at dispatch i told him hey dipatch me to terminal i already gave u 2 weeks notice 1 year ago lol.

but after them 2 backings, i have never had a problem in backing ever. Now i like the truck job, is the People i do not like. and by the way IF MY COACH EVER READ THIS HIS NAME IS "DEVIN" i just want to say FUCK U U FUCKING IDIOT, BITCH MOTHER FUCKER.

  • Man, when i got my first load after only 3.5 weeks of training i had to delivery in boston, than new jersey i had to back in even smaller place than the one in video, i think i pulled about 50 times :), i wanted to cry, i sended my 2 weeks notice right away in my Fucking qualcom, called my dispatch told him is imposible to back here, he was like make sure ur not late, and put it in there, i hang up the phone pulled about 30 more times than i did it huhhhhhh cursed out the whole east side...

  • he got it in didn't he?? i know truckers that couldn't do that in 20 tries

  • Volvos Dont shake when you let out the clutch

  • Great bit of driving, but what about my cows!?

  • that was a nice piece of reversing.

    newbys shud watch and learn!

  • Really? Well lets see what we can learn from this guy.

#1. He did not get out and look before or while he was backing.

#2. He did not have his hazard lights on to warn others that he was backing.

#3.He was backing up way to fast.

#4.He let his frustrations get the best of him.

#5. He did not get out and look.

This is what is wrong with trucking today. Neubies learn from steering wheel holders like this!

  • dude hazard lights? wtf if noone can see a huge fucking truck they have problems, and thats why they have mirrors so that you dont have to get out and look. and how do yu kno he didnt look befor? the video dosent show befor. and backing up fast just shows he has skills. and how does he get frustrated? maby hes just been trucking for a long time and is a good driver? yur probly new out of trucking school and does everything the instructor told yu.

  • I was going to say he was one of them swift graduates. Who gets out and looks unless they are backing on the blind side. That driver did a hell of a job.

  • Can he see all that much from his right hand side west coast mirror?????

I think he did an excellant job.

  • Sorry to burst your bubble but i have over 15 years and 2.5 million safe miles behind me. No tickets, not even scraped the side of a trailer on anything while turning so when i point out what he did wrong you CAN be sure that i do in fact know what i'm talking about!

In a situation like this you back a few feet, get out and look then back a little more until you can see everything you need to in your mirrors. If you were not a steering wheel holder fresh out of swift training you would know this!
