This song exactly fits, because there was no happy ending in Sonic X. The toughest character Shadow sacrifised himself to save Sonic and his friends, Tails lost his love Cosmo forever and Chris had to return home and he will probably never see his best friend Sonic again.

It is so, because 4kids TV cut out some scenes so it looks like Shadow has died. And Tails was crying because he lost Cosmo. She was of the Metarex planet when Tails fired off the Sonic canon. and despite Sonic's effort, the seed was the only thing he could save for Tails.
