Even with all the messups he did the chorus flawlessy. I agree he never drank but his main problem was prescription drugs provided by doctors/dentists. It seems no one could tell him no on these things since he was The King.

i think after 20 yrs. of doing the same things over and over again and knowing that your manager will never let you grow in your career would send anybody over the edge,. Elvis had hopes and asperations in the beginning but Col. Parker made sure Elvis stayed under his thumb. Elvis gave up and turned to drugs to dull the pain. He still had a voice that made millions - no one has topped his popularity duration. He had something no one understands but loves.

Elvis had one beer on rare occasions, he really did not drink. If you've every taken strong pain pills you would know this is what Elvis is influenced by. Elvis WAS IN SEVERE pain in the last few years of his life and needed strong pain pills. Severe glaucoma is painful...needles going straight into his eyes to relieve the pain, his back had sustained injuries, but the worst was his life-threatening digestive condition which he was hospitalized for a few times. He was in so much pain.
