  • i love the candy...

  • Ry Cooder on bass guitar ...

  • @zapspace That's correct! I first thought it was good old Jerry Handley! Ry Cooder did a nice job...

  • @zapspace Ry Cooder played guitar dumbass

  • @papacharlie123 You don't have to be so rude. And by the way Ry Cooder also played BASS guitar on this album, SIR.

  • R.I.P

  • One of my favorite's by the Captain. Bizarre but still fathomable.

  • R.I.P. Captain, you will never be duplicated.

  • welcome to earth....

  • I have this on vinyl and it's different than this. In mine the first verse, he sings Song after song after song blues

  • One of my fav Captain songs.

  • Super cool ... that first guitar break change always wows me out... Great. Nice quality

  • @TBonePickensetc I couldn't agree more, it's the reason I love this piece so much. He'll be missed.

  • @mfish618 ... When I first that little strange guitar riff... I just could not understand how it could be done and it was such a weird 'time' thing and the notes so strangely cool that ... all I knew was that I had never heard anything like that before.

I saw the band perform in the Spotlight Kid era... and yes... they could pull off all those things live... and yes they did the 'time change' slide in 'Veterans Day Poppy'... and yes it sounded just like the record. Wow.

  • @TBonePickensetc I've replayed that riff countless times......it's just as satisfying each time. You have a good ear, sir!! Did you catch the Bongo Fury Tour with Zappa? Epic. Veteran's Day Poppy is another favorite of mine.

  • @mfish618 I saw the Magic Band play Veterans Day Poppy. They really did it. I could not believe it... but they could do it... I would not have believed it if I had not heard it.

The time change thing... seemed impossible... the guitars did it exactly like the record. It was astounding.

  • @mfish618 did not see that tour no. I did see most of the original magic band from Trout mask era... mindboggling
