  • HELP! why do you say put it in the refrigerator for 3-6 days..

  • @rturp23 Please check your inbox because I already emailed you about this. And I'll make a video soon which explains this (and much more) in-depth so that you'll ALL have the answers you seek... But right now, I'm super hurt and can't type much. Sorry.

  • @MonaLisaLuvsMaryJane you are the man!!! thank you so much for the response! Cant wait to try the finished product!!!!

  • @MonaLisaLuvsMaryJane I hope you feel better too. Sorry to hear your under the weather! :(

  • Nice idea. But i'm afraid it's not the ''only'' one. Some kinds of meditation can do wonders at rewiring our reaction to pain plus many other benefits. I recommend Shinzen Young for those interested.

  • @rodrigojoseunb Deep meditation and ingesting cannabis extracts should go hand in hand toward healing one's self, definitely :)

  • @MonaLisaLuvsMaryJane Great approach :)

  • awesome video

  • NAPOLIAN!

  • The high you get from edibles is exactly like when you smoke it, just alot more intense depending on how much you use to make it. Very euphoric, yes, but I mainly love the fact that ever since I started smoking and consuming cannabis, I've not had a single migraine. (I suffered from frequent severe migraines) my life has improved drastically. I see no reason why this plant is illegal.

  • @kazzapattack you'd be an idiot to waste hash on butter plant material works just fine

  • @shivieee not high at all, all the THC is in the butter the most you'd from drinking that shitty water is a stomach ache!

  • How high would you get if you drank that water?

  • @shivieee It depends on how much fat you have readily available for it to cling to, in your digestive track (from your last meal) when you drink it and I know one thing for sure... I wouldn't do it :)

  • this is the end song for napoleon dynamite :)

  • I was just wondering if using hash instead of the actual plant matter would make any difference? Great video btw.

  • @kazzapattack Using hash alone changes the dynamic quite a bit because you're essentially reducing the plant matter down to just kief. That changes things but no worries, I actually have a video coming out soon that discusses kief in length...yay! Stay tuned :)

  • What song is that? As i was watching this i realized that the music often emphasizes different phases in the video like the song was being played for this video.. At least to me.. This video was really euphoric for me.. Thank you.

  • Cannabutter is so good like it much :)

  • why would you suggest 3-6 days in the fridge? Mine is solidified over night and even when I put the bowl back in the fridge for those 5 extra days nothing else solidifies.....

  • @TheEmarbe Well, this is the part that's more like chemistry, than cooking... but no worries, I'll have a video coming out soon where I'll explain this in depth. And, if you're only making a small batch (2 oz or less), a full 48 hours is sufficient.

  • freezing makes the tricomes break off.. thats how hash is made

  • How much butter would i need to add for 100 grams( about 1/4 pound) of leafs, tnx for the response:D

  • That's a big pot of pot

  • I have a question about the amounts of water you used. Most videos I've seen cook the marijuana in the butter itself with little to no water added. Does cooking it in the water allow for more THC release? better absorption by the butter afterwards? Either way your butter looks great. Can't wait to give this a shot myself.

  • I dont have that much bud one me but really want to try, have tried hash and is amazing. Can you just make way less butter, and use it for a couple of cookies? would that work?

  • @MegaBomb66 Yep, and I'll show you how very soon. The process is much less work but you should know what you're doing... Hang in there, buddy: soon I'll upload more videos :)

  • @MonaLisaLuvsMaryJane I dont have time to wait. I am trying a smaller batch as I'm writting this. tell you how it comes out later

  • Awesome :D :D

I haven't made my cannabutter video yet.

All my videos are hash, none in the kitchen yet :D :D

  • What is the ratio for weed to butter to water etc...?

  • hello my good friend! i just have a question... does it have the same effect proportional from the size if you smoke or ate it?? example... if i smoke 3 grams worth of THC from weed, as if i ate 3 grams from that butter will it have the same "high"... thanks!

  • @javierco269 hey there, could you please let me know if you get an answer? Thanks

  • @thinkyourright I'm letting you know, buddy... what's the deal?

  • @javierco269 if you ate 3grams worth of THC butter then you would prolly freak the fuck out and get sick cus youd be trippin so hard.

  • @javierco269 Eating the plant is far more economical, actually. I don't know many people who can eat more than a gram of hash (per 8 hours) but I know LOTS of people who can smoke more than that, no sweat :)

  • Great Video! Thank You very much :0)

  • Gee, Mom...

Thanks for giving me that old stock pot, finally found a use for it after a year in the attic!! LOL... If only she knew.

  • awesome video you rock...

  • How bad will this make my house smell? Any recommendations ventilation-wise?

  • 1:25 pot stew. .

  • ahhhhh good things take time :)

  • im so baked man

  • @mybigjimmy Congratulations :)

  • love the song you chose for this video!

  • @MonaLisaLuvsMaryJane will you marry me O.O

  • @DarkStarEmpireTV I've been told the dark side likes cookies too. Now I know it's true :)

  • Interesting - way cool fiddle music too :)

  • The song tricked me, I thought it was blister in the sun at first O_o

  • Wish u would of said the ingredients

  • @neshakisses21 The instructions are ALL there but if you view this video via your mobile device you'll not be able to see the words because annotations are not supported on youtube mobile. YOU MUST WATCH VIA A PERSONAL COMPUTER OR LAPTOP TO VIEW THIS TUTORIAL AS INTENDED and make sure your annotations are clicked "on"...Just look for the little red box (with a tail on it) on the tool bar (at the lower right hand side of the video). Best of luck :)

  • @MonaLisaLuvsMaryJane I got a few questions.

    1. Which is more potent? Flower buds or leaves?

    2. How much actual butter do you really need (I assume the amount of leaves/buds)

    3. What type of medicated high do you get off this? Body high, hallucination, or mellow pain killer?

    4. Can I use male plants (leaves) or will it not be as potent as the ladies?

  • @MonaLisaLuvsMaryJane How much weed did you use?

  • @neshakisses21 weed, butter, water, fire...

  • Thank you so much for this..I wanna know if I could use margarine instead of butter, I want to make some cookies for a vegan friend :s..Does it works like that?

  • @LaVidaRandom NO DO NOT USE MARGARINE...it will not re-congeal properly and depending upon it's ingredients it may not be suitable for a good (stable) extraction. Vegans LOVE canna-oil so please go check out my video about how to make it!

  • Man, although I got this routine down I come back to jam to this song on big speakers when I'm under heavy Indica with company. Much love from Los Angeles Mona-Lisa and thank you for the best instructions.

  • What will happen if I add wet weed ?

  • @pegazus234 If you mean "wet" as in uncured, then your results will be a bit different, (medicinally) and I'm working on a video about that so stay tuned. But if you mean "wet" as in you washed your plant matter with water prior to cooking, then except for the loss of trichomes there really is no difference. Good luck!

  • This song is from Napoleon Dynamite! Im so baked.

  • Screw jam, this is real toast material

  • Imagine trying to drink that whole tub... Holy shit..

  • thanks a lot :) im using this method right now!!

    5*

  • Ease your chronic pain with chronic by making your bud into butter!

  • food network for stoners?

  • "Ease Your Chronic Pain", ahem! my life is a chronic pain....problem solved...

  • napolian dynamite ftw

  • OMG!!! The next segment I shoot is going to use this bud - butter. Thank you so much for this!

  • i made brownies and my friend from michigan said they were better than edibles at medical marijuana shops.. he said those dont get you high at all

  • BIGGEST bowl i ever seen :(

  • QUICK! NOBODY ELSE LIKE THE VIDEO! 420 LIKES! fuck yeah.

  • very nice sentence: "stir the 'pot' gently" ^__^

  • The music fits the video perfectly xD

  • Reminds me of brewing beer :)

  • could you cut all of the ingredients in half to make a smaller portion?

  • @ThatCarterKid Absolutely!

  • alright now who wants to lick the spoon!

  • Can you use stems and seeds?

  • @KickingAssDaily Yes, and you should! Go check out my video about the Edible Elements of Cannabis Extraction. May I suggest you plant the seeds and use the stems for extraction? But the fact is you most certainly CAN cook the seeds as well, as they contain (basically) the same properties as the stems (natural time-release).

  • @00Weedman00 My tutorials show patients step-by-step, a certain way of doing things... and yes, you can be absolutely certain that ALL steps are based on sound reasoning, for the best results!

I will try to include that specific information in my next round of videos, so stay tuned if you wanna learn more as I'm always working on something fun and informative :)

  • @ChrissiMcCool91

1oz BUD makes 1lb (aka: 2 cups) finished cannabutter...But you should put into the pot 2-1/2 to 3 cups of fresh butter however, as you'll lose some in the process.

Or you can use 2 oz sweetleaf...

Or you can use 3-4 oz of fan leaves.

The important thing to note is that the ratio given is FOR A MEDICINAL STRENGTH EXTRACTION and although you can make great extractions using just buds...You really should make your cannabutter with some of the leaves, if possible.

  • Outstanding video. Thank you MonaLisa for all you do to help others. The world needs more enlightened people such as yourself. Keep the videos coming!! :D To those previous posters wondering what the title of this song is....it's called "Music for a Found Harmonium", and this version comes from the "Celtic Fiddle Festival" CD.

  • 5:40 thats some nice pesto ;)

  • AWESOME :)

  • loved the detailed instructions and the music

cant wait to try it myself :)

  • mine came out great thanks MonaLisa!!!

  • What does one use if butter is not an option for some reason (allergic / vegan)?

  • @SonOfBohl Vegans love their canna-oil...and you can make it with whatever oil you prefer (I strongly suggest olive oil). Choose one which works best in light of your current medical requirements (and/or allergies). Go check out my video on how to make the very best, it's simple...Yay :)

And I hope you feel better very soon :)

  • LOVE the video, came to brush up on my butter makin skills & this is exactly how a cannabutter video should be, i like how you stress the key to the whole operation is PATIENCE,,, lol Sooo many people overlook that majority of what it takes to make something good is Patience!!! But heading over to part 2, adding these to favs for sure, this recipe is byyyy FAR better than the one i was using!!!!

  • No napolean dynamite comments. NAPOLEAN DYNAMITE!

  • What is the water/butter/weed ratio?

  • @shmiggen I'm not yelling, I'm just trying to make sure EVERYONE can see this reply:

WATER = AT LEAST 3 PARTS (more if you want a cleaner tasting finished product)

WEED = 1oz bud makes 1lb finished cannabutter (OR) 2oz sweetleaf (OR) 4 oz water or fan leaves

BUTTER= 1-1/4 lbs goes in the stock pot, per ounce (or cup) of bud (OR 2 oz sweetleaf OR 4 oz water or fan leaves) but you will lose some of it to the plant matter (about a stick-aka 1/4 lb) in the end.

  • Great video! Seemed easy, but wow, I started the process at noon yesterday, and quit at 2 AM today. I'm not sure I cooked long enough after butter was added (never stayed sank in water), but after 7 hours I was pooped (and falling asleep). I went through the straining and did by video. Put it in fridge in stock pot, but 17 hours later, butter is still really just floating butter, doesn't seem to look like it's hardening very much. Is this normal?

  • @micel11 It sounds like you did everything right...yet, next time you can call it a night by simply taking your stew off the stove to cool overnight, and then re-heating it all in the morning again (to strain it while it's hot) to finish out the process. 17 hours may not be enough time to witness the re-congealing of your butter if it was a large batch (like mine), so rest assured knowing that everything will be golden as long as you used real butter (as substitutes don't always re-harden).

  • song makes me wanna watch naploean dance

  • adopt me please :D

  • Drive you nuts with questions,, but; you've said to leave new butter refridgerated for 3 days before harvesting. Ive also seen this said elsewhere & am wondering why? Lastly; in a recent reply to me, you stated I might be worrying a little prematurely about the yeild of my batch. As more time has passed now, it appears you know your stuff very well, As a man, it kills me to admit I was "premature" at anything! LOL!!. I appreciate your vids, sincerely, thnks 4 sharing ur skills & know how.

  • @vpbubbies I'll post a video regarding the chemical processes which makes cannabutter different from an oil extraction, and the difference between extractions made with fats, and those made with alcohol...so please subscribe if you haven't already. See, the chemical process (at rest) is important (medicinally) and is THE reason our (wise) ancestors started using butter in the first place. I'll put out a video to teach you all about it, friend, so stay tuned :)

  • Legalize Weed. Mmm i must try your weed cookies, pies, cakes and other delights ma'am.

  • What did you use to grind that much?

  • @TheUndertow666 I use my food processor, believe it or not.

  • Here I go for a second try! I did a lot of research to find the best method and stopped at yours. Even though I made a few mistakes last time spilling and using cheese cloth, my butter turned out fine. Learned from that mistake and bought me a ricer :)

I used 1oz for 1 pound of butter. Is that a good ratio? At first the butter seemed chalky and crumbly. So I reconstituted it with another stick of butter and that did the trick. Any idea why it turned out like that originally?

  • @TheUndertow666 Plant starch(es) will affect the consistency of your butter sometimes making it turn "crumbly" and "chalky", yes... Adding it to other fats will work it out: good call :)

  • My stove on lowest settings still makes the pot steam quite a bit but not bubble. Is that a bad thing as you mentioned you should not allow it to evaporate too much?

  • @TheJSilverio ...You're doing fine, no worries...It has to cook somehow. Even if it bubbles (boils) a little you'll be fine, just don't let it boil too much and be sure to keep an eye on it. Add more water if needed and just relax...sounds like you're doing fine to me!

Believe it or not: The worlds' smartest people have been doing this for thousands of years and it's an art more akin to cooking than science because it simply requires love and patience.

Btw...I'm proud of you. Good job :)

  • Im going to cook for my parents

  • Thank you for the video, it's really the vest one for this matter :)

  • Awsome vid btw :D I searched for a while to find one that was most detailed in hopes of not wasting too much buds. I've cooked a few times following your vid (although with a LOT less lol). I have couple questions tho. Is the water step simply for a cleaner taste? I ask because I use maybe half ounce to an ounce and even when its barely a simmer I have to add water every hour or so. Do I lose anything significant with all this evaporation? I'll cook for bout 6 hours. Thx in advance :D

  • @Imaginos26 It sounds to me like you're doing it right...Yes, you'll have to add water (again) sometimes especially if you're making a smaller batch. The water is necessary to fully cook your plant matter...without it you would cook your butter to an unsavory state way before all the cannabinoids (and thc) could be extracted. You shouldn't lose anything due to evaporation as long as you don't allow it to get to a rolling boil for long periods at a time. And you are super welcome, buddy :)

  • @MonaLisaLuvsMaryJane I've been sitting in my kitchen for the past 3 hours, keepin a close eye on it ( on 2nd season of simpsons lol ) . Figured I'd drop in for a quick hello :P Thx for the fast response, right in time for the cooking lol. And you're real cool for responding to so many people so quickly and in such a friendly manner. The weed community is lucky to have you. Keep up the good work, and I've learned enough from you to take it from here I guess. May you have many happy days to come!

  • Amazing music.

  • @DavySigfusson Yes, you can try some cannabutter melted into a shot of warm v-8 juice (silly), that's why I mentioned it on the video (Part 2) because that's by far the quickest, easiest, and healthiest way to ingest it without actually tasting it. Try it, you'll like it :)

  • Always wondered if you could actually eat this with anything, because it tastes quite awful.

  • @DavySigfusson There are definitely ways to make it taste as "clean" (and yummy) as possible while you're making it but you should definitely learn to cook (or bake) with this stuff because it eliminates all the canna-flavoring while imparting your food with seemingly magical properties...

Yeah, I wouldn't suggest you go slathering it on toast or anything :)

  • so can you smoke the left over bud lol

  • @vanhalenman60 Um, no...I mean you can, but please film that for Youtube so we can all see you do it :)

  • i bet your kitchen smells wonderful

  • i remember that song from napoleon dynamite

  • so is the cook time less if you use less bud or is it still the same?

  • @FlamingWalrus317 If you're using a small quantity (say 2 oz of bud or less) the time will be MUCH less (maybe 2-6 hours total, depending). Anything more than 2oz and it'll be about the same time. It really depends on the cooking temperature and your plant material. You'll simply want to cook it REALLY WELL without burning it, that's all. So keep an eye out on the stove and just have fun with it. Nothing to be scared of...weed is pretty hearty stuff, thank goodness :)

  • @MonaLisaLuvsMaryJane alright thanks!

  • @MonaLisaLuvsMaryJane your video is by far the best on cannbutter, i have one question what's the butter to plant matter ratio??

  • @84sLizardKing It depends on what part of the plant you're using...If you use all buds, then 1oz makes 1lb finished cannabutter (but you put in 1-1/4lb of unsalted butter knowing you'll lose about a stick of butter to the process). If you use all fan leaves (aka: water leaves), then about 4oz makes 1 lb finished cannabutter...And, if you're using Sweet-Leaf (aka: trim from harvest time) then 2oz makes 1lb finished cannabutter.

  • @MonaLisaLuvsMaryJane you should really add this in the description of the video. Really useful information i think.. Amazing edibles by the way!!

  • 5 people rushed through and didn't realize they were supposed to put a pot under the collander when they strained it.

  • @TheRaspberryFlavored lol sucks for them

  • @imthetank3 Lololol it was a dislike joke.

  • @TheRaspberryFlavored i know but i found it hilarious

  • Gosh, I wish there was a healthier way to make cannabis "butter"

Butter is so fattening and doesn't really have much nutritional value. Great video, however!

  • @BarefootArizona Sounds like you would enjoy Canna-Oil, friend...So go check out my video on how to make it :)

  • this song is from the end of napoleon dynamite lol

  • Can you use salted butter?

  • @monoclecobra Yes, you can use salted butter, but...it totally enhances the strongest flavors of the plant AND it also tends to make it lumpy PLUS it's just plain "better for you" without all the sodium. Please, try it with unsalted butter... You'll like it better :)

  • Wooowwwww looks like a swamp at the beginning

  • All i could think about while watching this was the end of Napoleon Dynamite..

  • THIS MUSIC I AWESOME!!!

  • thumps up if the people in the background music doesnt fuck u up when your high.lol

  • i want too make some cannabutter but i never have that much bud

  • @MonaLisaLuvsMaryJane Ok cool i cant wait to see more recipes :D!!!I already subscribed

  • how much does this stink up your kitchen? I got neighbors:)

  • @bfortuneful If you can keep the temps on the lower side (so it doesn't boil up) you might be okay. But I'd suggest simmering a pot of apples or cooking some stinky fish while you're making it (to mix up the cooking smells and confuse nosey neighbors). But you might (rather) consider making canna-oil which smells less strongly. Olive oil is the best for making canna-oil (it has great fats which make your extraction strong) so try that instead and enjoy, friend :)

  • This music made me dance around in my room as i watch a video about makeing butter :D

  • @demonxthedk Ha! Just wait till you try the butter...you'll never STOP dancing :)

  • Excellent video! Do I dry my trimmings before or after freezing them?

  • @cdubsell Cure (and fully dry) all your marijuana before you freeze it, and for the most part only use properly cured plant matter to make your extractions. Why, you ask? Because (correctly) drying & curing your cannabis allows all the essential plant acids time to turn into usable THC. And I'm always super glad to hear that someone out there likes my videos. (Yay, it never gets old... Actually, it always makes me happy :)

  • haha napolian dynamite song

  • so...much...straining

  • this songs from napoleon dynamite

  • 0:40 i better roll some joints of that

  • YOU ARE A GOOD CHEFF. THANK YOU!

  • 0:52 looks like the size of bowl i smoke every day.

  • Hello,

Thanks for a great video. I was thinking about making some of this butter and mixing it with protein powder for muscle building purposes. I'm actually new to the while cannabis thing, and I would not like to smoke, I'll rather eat it combined with realtively healthy and protein rich food. Its known that cannabis has a positive effect on the restitution of the body after a hard workout, so thats what I'm looking for her. What kind of dosages would be good for that purpose?

  • @s1rre Canna-oil is super easy to incorporate into whatever it is you eat... I'll have a video coming out about this soon and you are going to LOVE how much it helps with the pain (soreness) and restoration of the body, no doubt about it. A very small dosage (say a teaspoonful max) can be mixed into a protein rich dish (before you eat it) and you'll feel sooo much better that you'll really enjoy your workouts again :)

Keep an eye out for all my newest videos, which I'll be uploading soon...

  • This is a really good recipe to make canna butter. Thank you

  • Great video, thanks for posting!

  • i was drooling 75% of the video

  • 0 dislikes

  • Hey first Great videos , trought all the video one about making cannabutter i found this one was the best technique and very well done... I have a very important question and would like a quick answer ... I made bubble hash with bubble bags with my trim... I wanna use the trim and do butter with it... but i would like the dosage since its trim and then it has been already used with trim... how many used trim vs butter ?? help would be greatly appriciated

  • @olirain Start out with 6oz coarsely ground plant material for every 1lb (2 cups) of butter. Throw in an extra stick of butter (1/4 lb or 1/2 cup) knowing you'll not reclaim it all (from the plant matter in the end) and may even lose a little more...it's just part of the process, so try and squeeze it all out. You could go stronger if you like but start there and I bet it'll be absolutely lovely! The great thing about Mary is, she's so complex. It's not just her trichomes that kick ass :)

  • @MonaLisaLuvsMaryJane thanks ill try this out today :) + i will ad all my stems and see if it works :) thanks for the quick reply good luck

  • xD i really think you got the last thing out of it :D

  • LOL - 2:16 Stir the pot gently.... STIR IT UP.... Little Darling.....

  • <3 this fucking song

  • -Looks at all the pathetic bleating- What we are looking at here is people, is a demonstration of traditional cooking at its best. It is absolutely evident that a lot of time and effort has gone into the delicate instructions for the best possible result. Outstanding video!

  • Damn. That's a lot of bud.

  • SOO MUCHH WEEDD

  • @adolfo1514 It's not. In this method to making cannabutter, you'll cook the marijuana in water (and add butter) but the thc and other elements bind to the butter (or oil) and NOT the water. That is why (once completely finished) you'll end up keeping the butter ONLY (while discarding the refrigerated water)...As shown in Part 2.

  • Hey, I just wanted to confirm that the amount of water you use while making it doesn't change the quality of the cannabutter, in fact it seems like the more you use the better the product. I made 1/2 lb. of cannabutter before watching your 2 videos that didn't come out that great, due to various causes, but I definitely want to give it another try after watching your videos. For my next attempt I plan to try to make a lb of butter with an ounce of decent-high quality bud. Thank you. :)

  • @Lagboltqt1 Yes, that's right... The more water used, the "cleaner" the taste of the finished cannabutter (not so full of chlorophyll bitterness), and you are super welcome :)
