Thanks, I was wondering about my new rosin. It was so hard and shiny and I couldn't see if there was a plastic coating on it or something. Now I know.
Is it ok for the wooden part of the bow to arch? When I lay it down to compare it with a flat surface, the bow is about a half-inch off the surface at the highest point.
I have to add a thank you as well. Everyone make it look like 5 or 6 wipes across the hard block should do it and I couldn't figure out why I was not getting any sound!
I remember getting my first new rosin cake, and trying to get it to play, haha. Learned this trick and it helped a bunch. Nice to see it's being passed on.
THANKS SO MUCH! i just bought my daughter a new violen (deep purple in color its breath-takingly beautiful) and i dont know ANYTHING about it...i wanted it ready for her first lesson when i surprised her with it.there were only 2 videos on this subject and yours helped the most! thanks again! angie-texas
