  • It's not an argument to point out that many individuals in history were lucky and talented enough to succeed in life without college. That doesn't mean that the average person can risk his entire future to see if whether or not a college degree is really worth it. You need SOME kind of insurance on your life. Sure, you may succeed in being a great entrepreneur like Bill Gates, but odds are you'll lose years of your life and money just trying to be. It's better to be safer in this day and age.

  • Its not that college is bullshit...its some of the ideas in colleges like political correctness and the rampant alcohol and drug abuse on campuses thats bullshit

  • Does the old guy with a beard sound like the Genie in Aladdin when he's talking about not bringing people back from the dead? I think so.

  • JOIN THE MILITARY!! you get qualifications and to fight for whatever country you happen to be in.

  • @muttley299 YEAH LETS JOIN TO AMRY AND DIE FOR OIL GUYS.. LETS DIE SO THE RICH GET RICHEEEERRRRR

  • @matdawg420

....sure the amry is a helluva opportunity son...you can become a solder and go off to die in wharrs

  • This show is such bullshit. merely listing people who did not go to college and did well proves nothing. Showing people outside of norm is not the norm. You have to show entire distribution and not just highlight individual data points.

  • @hamobu guess you just watched the first 4 minutes.

  • @pcfriedrich I like to comment while I watch. Still the comment holds for the rest of the episode. Three or four liberals and some incident at one university may not represent all college communities in the nation.

  • To be fair, eminem isn't really a good role model as far as college is concerned.

  • @11:58 Dave Chappelle is pissed!!

  • Its gotten much worse in Australia, this stuff all happens in high school down here

  • @Crackshot1983 Man...How is it not owning guns down there? And so freakin close to Red China..

  • @EricLynchSucks Yeah its pretty bad, coz in America its mainly the College students who get indoctrinated into being leftards whereas in Australia it happens in high school and even elementary school so theres a lot more of them

  • @zoeleutheros

I wasn't talking about you personally, lighten up.

You're anger is more proof of how undeserving some college kids are.

FYI, "too" is the proper usage.

  • i say to beret guy. get a sense of humour you fucking hippy

  • Why do links to 'Robotic Vagina' keep coming in the sidebar of all the P&T vids???

  • i think meg wants my balls

  • "closet bigots" - so closeted, they don't even leave a clue they're there, eh?

  • I hate people like Davis. They think they're smart, and that they're more worldly, but anyone with intelligence can see they are full of shit.

  • @difficultbastard I love how people like Davis latch onto this racism thing like an obsession. Something tells me he's the racist but... I can't say that... that makes me racist.

  • Why the hell is Michael Davies working there if it's that bad?? Knob...

  • I like Penn&Teller but I don't quite get where they are going with this episode. So education is bullshit now? Great, this is awesome for our generation. I can't wait to see all the highly skilled doctors, lawyers, engineers, financial analysts, researchers and scientists that this genius line of thinking will produce!

  • and now you can add mark zuckerberg

  • i believe diversity was an old wooden ship used in civil war times -Ron Burgandy

  • The problem I have with college is job requirements. Entry level IT support jobs that require a 4 year degree? Jobs you can literally do after reading a single For Dummies book after dropping out of high school?

  • It would have been nice if they had talked about some of the frauds that were being perpetrated. Things like massive spikes in administrative costs. At my old school I watched my major shrink the number of courses offered. Yet administration kept getting more office space, more money and the bill just kept getting hirer and hirer.

  • didnt' like the anti-gaudiya vaishnava(hare krishna) pun but other than that, not bad

  • I support college, but this shit that is going on is a waste

  • don't tell me this D:( im going into uni next year!

  • @freazeezy slash this year...shit

  • @freazeezy

good luck paying off those student loans. I say fuck that I'm going into the military.

  • @TehUltimateSnake thats not a real smart thing to do, if your talking about the US military

  • @zebraman60

Um they pay for pretty much everything. My military friends can attest to that.

  • @TehUltimateSnake yeah, well for every friend of yours, i have 2 who can attest to how bad it is. oh, i agree, its great at first. but it dont last long, and they leave you high and dry. but thats not what i meant, i meatn youll be shipped to some godforsaken country, against your will, and you wont come back. sorry, i just think student loans are better than death

  • @zebraman60

I'm joining the air force..either way, we all have to make sacrifices to be successful in life. I just find it dumb to waste 4 years of my life and so much money just to receive a piece of paper saying I'm qualified for a job. Rather than doing that, I just stay in the military for up to 7 years and get nearly any job I want just because I was in the military.

  • @TehUltimateSnake no offense, but i think you dont know much about the military. im not saying go to college! hell no, lol. but the military benefits arent worth it (death). and you cant just get any job if you were in the military (ya know how the vietnam vets and the gulf war vets are mostly homeless now?) thats cuz the military doesnt care about helping you out. they use you, then ditch you. sure, theyre good to you WHILE YOUR THERE. but not after you leave. sry

  • @zebraman60

I'm actually going to tech school and after that I'm getting a job in the electronics field. I'm not doing infantry. So I'm at no risk whatsoever. While I'm there they pay for my food and everything and I get allowance at the end of the week or month. Ever heard of the G.I. Bill? They can pay for my college if I choose to go.

  • Man, reminds me that I have such a cool college. Responsive instructors and staff, good peers, nice atmosphere, pretty reasonable tuition (but my god the textbook prices are still BS) and I've been learning a lot with access to plenty of hands-on as well as lecture. They even have good co-op options for learning on-the-field stuff for my Sciences.

Of course I could always head up north to do an industry job for big bucks and skip the whole formal education thing, but that's not for me.

  • @LtZerge

    I'm also in western Canada...

  • A college education is a wonderful thing to have. Not all occupations/professions require the kind of collegiate experience that others do. I like this show, but this is a specious argument.

  • @tcktrc College doesn't always = education. College grads are some of the most ignorant people I know, they only know what they were taught and it's often wrong.

  • @MrROTD For every college graduate that you find to be ignorant there are many that aren't. Further I'm confident in asserting that proportionately, there are more "ignorant" people among non-attendees. This doesn't mean that if you don't go that you're ignorant (which only means lack of knowledge, it doesn't imply a gradation of intelligence), just like going to college doesn't qualify someone as smart. But your characterization of higher ed as a place where "wrong" things are taught needs -

  • @MrROTD - some clarification. Is your problem with the people? The material? The bias' of the institutions? I see from your other comment that you did not attend a college. So from where is this first hand knowledge of the inner workings of not just one university, but the system as a whole? Higher education is too diverse to be painted with one brush Some careers & people need further 'schooling'. Others - perfectly honorable, rewarding, others, don't. That's all that should be said on this.

  • 27 years old and will net somewhere between $105K and $180K this year. No bullshit. I also left high school at 17. I have exactly one friend from when I was a child that is making anywhere close to that, but nearly all my friends went to college. See a problem here? An ex of mine's parents spent about $50K on her education and she's making $13/hr. I prefer my path that currently has me living in Central America and thoroughly enjoying my life.

  • @JadedRockStar84 I'm doing great too and I dropped out of high school and went to work. my best friend went to college and he's unemployed and stuck with student loan payments. not everyone needs college

  • I'd love to fuck Megan...I'm 28...am I a bad man?

  • @theMAXILOPEZpsycho no you're not, desiring beautiful women is normal at any age

  • @theMAXILOPEZpsycho Not realy, I'm sure she's much older now.

  • A close friend of mine goes to IUP. Back in october, posters were put up of a sillouhette of a person hanging. I'm sure you figured out by now that "racist storm" was inbound. The pictures were from an organization about genocide awareness. She said that they even posted on the school website that students could talk to counselors if they felt upset about the incident. It's kinda hard to be "progressive" when everything is apparently offensive now.

  • 7:10 What colleges are Pen and Teller talking about? My university was great at letting us do, say and think pretty much whatever we wanted as long as we could justify it.

These guys say some good stuff, but they also say some dumb stuff.

  • 4:56 is that a segway? What a fucktard.

  • more diversity at a community college because people it allows conservative and libertarian ideas to be shown and allows more diverse classes as well not just liberal arts ones; community colleges are more in tune with the real world

  • Going to university/college to simply a Liberal Arts degree is pretty much moot, compared the huge amounts of student debt a person acquires. In today's society, it almost makes more sense to join the miltary for four years first, THEN go to college. Most freshmen are in over their heads.

  • Must suck to go to St. Cloud lol

  • Screw college my family is a family of peasants so I know my place in society.

  • hahahah. College really is bullshit.

  • Mark Zuckerberg is also a college drop out.

  • Oh Students First at UCLA may you never change.

  • I used to be a student at SCSU. In 2002 I was accused of making negative statements to a "professor of color". My crime, questioning incorrect statements that the professor was teaching as facts in an IT class.

I was immediately removed from the class, violating my right to mediation according to the student code of conduct. Unfortunately that professor is still on campus and the administration did nothing because of fear of the professor taking action against SCSU.

  • @bepratt I have had a similar problem with my Chemistry teacher. He is a brilliant scientist, but couldn't teach a student if his life depended on it. I ended up talking the the Dean of Science and Art, who throughout the conversation continued to insinuate that my concerns and issues were motivated by his being Asian, which is not the case. They didn't do anything for the same reason, even though the vast majority of the class ended up flunking his class, and I didn't learn anything at all.

  • @bepratt Give us a name, I will thumb it up and so will other people. We will see what can be done.

  • @bepratt

    Ideological boot camp

  • @bepratt what exactly was he saying and what of it did you refute?

  • My only problem with this entire argument is that assume all colleges are the same thing, when it's the opposite. Are there several terrible institutions? You bet, and they need to change. But not everywhere is like that, knowing the college is a important step before dropping your kid there.

    Just my two cents.

  • @AKImeru Exactly. It is impossible to generalize about college life in America. Whatever generalization you come up with, I can probably think of an exception.

  • 06:53 press and laugh!

  • "The opposite of Diversity is University"
