@ArkhamsFunnest ..very good but I believe it was the holy ghost that came down on him..or...her, blessing the fact that transsexuals are all welcomed in heaven.
What I love about this scene is how much it mocks modern politics.
You've got the PFJ trying to establish a plan for achieving their goals, and they're being distracted and diverted by some idiot worrying about a non-issue... like "women's lib" or "gay rights" or "global warming".
As Franklin said in "1776"...
"First things first, John. Independence; America. If we don't secure that, what difference will the rest make? "
@Jim1905 You're NOT allowed to critique PC for PCSake! You have to understand, you don't know what is correct. Ergo you need the 10 Commandments, to guide you to Enlightenment. Where everyman or woman and those who are Gender non specific and children and OAPs, will live in perfect harmony according to PC's wishes
@Hiraghm I'd argue the contrary. We are distracted by the anti-PC-thugs constant bitching and moaning about having to be civil to women and foreigners while there are much more important to worry about.
@Hiraghm Hehe yeah those idiots who believe in actual freedom of belief and judging only individuals by their actions.. But that's as much I'm going to argue with you about this dumb nonsense on this awesome video clip. :)
Stan sounds like judge Walker in his emotional plea for the government issuing gays marriage licenses. Nothing more pathetic than a symbolic struggle against reality.
I'm Christian and I'm not at all offended by this movie, much like many others. It just goes to show how many other "Christians" out there are too uptight and narrow-minded.
Funny how all throughout the movie, people can extrapolate how "Monty Python accurately attacks the nonsensical dogma, hypocracy (etc, etc, blah, blah blah) of the Christians and the Christian churches -
BUT -
When they just sit right down and openly mock the HS's, TV's & TS's .... no one points how briliiant THAT is ...
I think Christians tend to misinterpret Life of Brian. They feel it is an attack on their faith or beliefs, when that's not at all the case.
What the Pythons mock in LoB is the human response to religion, making stuff up as they go along and claiming it came from the Almighty himself, sometimes deliberately, sometimes out of ignorance. It mocks the Church and the rituals, not the faith itself.
And the same is true here. The Pythons would never truly mock homosexuality for obvious reasons.
@megamarsvin Christians have no reason to feel attacked. After all, the only occasion Jesus appears is using a minimal, respectful manner at the beginning of the film (not counting baby Jesus).
@megamarsvin Are you kidding? This movie is a direct attack on religion, specifically Christianity. The movie mocks the entire premise of the story of Jesus. If that's not an attack directly on the faith itself I don't know what is.
I'm not seperating the two. I can dislike a Christian without disliking Christianity. Most of the movie it mocks those who are like sheep, who don't think for themselves.
@VonKickyourass They are mocking a specific category of "those who are like sheep": Christians. All Christians. According to the pythons, the whole concept of a Messiah is absurd and anyone who believes in one is a sheep. If you are a Christian, you are a sheep.
Of course there is german humor and the german love british humor nearly more than you do.and what happened in 1945 is not funny at all you damn old bastard!
