I'll never understand why so many want to stay with our present archaic and opaque tax code. We need innovative, fresh, simple, and transparent and we need it NOW. Our elected officials don't even have to pay any withholding tax, not even Social Security or Medicare. Blood suckers. The average American pays a much higher percentage of taxes than do corporations, because we pay it for them! It's imbedded in the cost of everything you buy before you get to the check out counter! This is a great way for illegal aliens to support themselves. Personally, I think they should be deported but since they're here gettin' paid under the table, why shouldn't they pay taxes? You're right, bearshouse48, we've all got a pony in this race.

Since illegals don't have a social security number, they won't receive the monthly prebate check. But they still have to pay the tax every time they make a purchase. So they'll probably end up deporting themselves. The whole premise behind hiring illegals is cheap labor, no benefits. Under the FairTax, it would cost them more to work here than in Mexico.

I like it. It takes all the angst out of paying taxes and knowing that my taxes are higher because someone else doesn't pay (and often gets a refund on unpaid taxes). We all have a horse in the race like this.

If someone is paying less taxes it is only because their purchase power is less than mine, not because they are gameing the system.

I'm afraid it will take too much power away from DC so you know it will never pass.

Oh, I think it will pass. When elected officials recognize that they'll lose votes and funding for their campaigns if they don't support the Fair Tax, they lose their seats. I've had several requests for donations recently and I've emailed or called the campaign and informed them that the Fair Tax is a deal-breaker issue for me. I've had it and I'm not going to contribute to the status quo anymore. This is an American issue, not a partisan issue.

Folks, it is simple. But greater things have happened that we thought would never happen. The fall of the Soviet system for one. HR-25 has over 80 cosponsors in congress. Mike Huckabee supports the FairTax and is a viable candidate that will be running in 2012. Fox News is making sure he gets exposure by giving him a weekly show. We need a radical plan to unseat Obama in 2012. Something that even blacks and hard line liberals will take notice of. That's the FairTax. Let's get it done.

To my understanding, they haven't needed a SS#, just a tax #, The Fair Tax would be great, and that's the biggest reason that we liked Huckabee. It would work great and help so many people and not the illegals. That's why they won't do it!

I sincerely believe the Fair Tax will pass as citizens learn more. It's so simple! And that simplicity translates into transparency. This is the Fair Tax time if ever there was one. Watch out, you'll hear a LOT of misinformation about Fair Tax. If you watched "Geraldo at Large" last night you got a blatant example of Fair Tax being misrepresented by some guest of his, and he let it pass! I fired off an email to his show demanding the he correct this in an upcoming show.
