  • And the interviewer, Gig Young, would end up murdering his 21 year old wife before committing suicide in 1978.

  • oh.. "one or two"

  • Chilling "The life you might save might be mine"

  • "the life you save might be mine" was Jimmy's own personal modification to his required line which was "the life you save might be your own."

  • This is so eerie...

  • CRRRRAZY! i cant believe thats real

  • tragic and ironic... that is one weird mix.

  • Unbelievable coincidences like this happened throughout this career. It was almost like he knew it was going to happen.

  • very weird and coincidental, because he died that way.

  • They`re both acting, but Dean isn't.

  • This video is so ironic, it's scary. But I love James Dean;)

  • In English literature I think the term for this is "tragic irony"

  • watching this makes me so sad. he spoke his own death to a t. it's crazy. if i could go back to anytime i'd go back to this time so i could meet him.

  • iironic as hell

  • Oh the irony

  • i've only just took a fascination into the life of james dean (i'm 18) but by god...what an amazing person he was.

but the only thing i can't get out my head is his tragic death.

there's something so deeply disturbing and sinister about it. i'm positive that car was cursed...after reading all the injuries and deaths it was responsible for, i'm sure of it.

in my eyes, it gives me proof that this world is beyond comprehensible. there's so much more to life than we'll ever know...until we die

  • For everyone saying this wrong he said "the life you take might be mine"

  • @guitarwizard84 are you deaf? He said "The life you might save might be mine."

  • tHE IRONY OF THIS IS ASTOUNDING!!!!

  • Even for a cheesy little PSA film, Dean has to go all method-y!

  • "take it easy driving, one of the lives you save might be mine" one of the most tragic things I've ever heard. :(

  • ...very eerie. He was quite a handsome guy, I wish he could've made more movies....I can't get over how attractive he is from his attitude to his looks.

  • Wasn't the other guy in a Twilight Zone episode or two?

  • @Jquuest Walking Distance, where he goes back in time to his youth.

  • reminds me of a mischievous 3yr old.

  • Dean had raced in Palm Springs before his deadly crash South of Bakersfield.

  • dramatic irony my friends

  • Is the interviewer the guy who was in game of death?

  • A tad bit ironic

  • @MrHideyoursheep Not a tad, this is PRECISELY ironic!

  • This is NOT a PSA. It's from a program called Warner Bros. Presents .

  • @senoritajd: I agree with you about James Dean being compared to Brando way too much. It's so stupid for people to say that he copied off of Marlon because Marlon was way more intense overall and James Dean was always shifting moods while in character. Brando had emotional range, but he was always very volatile and never seemed too calm in his trademark and early roles as a young man. James Dean had the ability to erupt, but he was often sedated by something like Clift's vulnerability, brooding.

  • @JoelDAnger5588 Great comments! Montgomery Clift came first, then Brando, then Dean. All three left great legacies. I will never go to a Clift or Brando video bashing them about how great James Dean is. I only comment on James Dean videos because he is my favorite actor. I think people should be more respectful and whoever is their favorite, go and comment on their videos and stop bashing. Everyone on this site has different opinions and those who wish to troll need to respect that.

  • I'm tired of the comments about James Dean wanting to be Brando. Yes, I know that Jimmy idolized Marlon but Jimmy made his mark in so many ways. Brando is a great actor and he, Montgomery Clift, and James Dean started it all. Unfortunately, Jimmy did not get the chance to prolong his career with his life being cut short. In my opinion he is better than Brando and Clift. Furthermore, James Dean had no reason to impersonate Brando, he is the epitome of cool, then and now. He is the greatest!

  • Guess Donald wasnt watching

  • James Dean wanted to be Brando so bad, he even tried passing off his impression of him as his own personality.

  • @Axelness james dean never sat in his bedroom thinking... ooooh i wanna be marlon.... honestly he just didnt... its peope like you that have made similararities... sorry spelt wrong.. between famous people.. oooh he is just like him.. she is just like her... james dean was an origional n there has bin no one ever like him... prove me wrong lol

  • Fail

  • Tragic irony.

There isn't any chemistry between JD and the host. What a poor result!

  • Okay I'm Really Sorry For Tying In What James Dean Said Wrong! I Will Type It In Right This Time!

What Does James Dean Mean When He Says,

'The Life You Save Might Be Mine'?

What Does He Mean By This?

If Someone Could Respond Back, That Would Be Really Great!!

    Thank You Very Much!!

  • @waterbearier30th He's just saying that if you're careful you might save a life and that life may be his. It's a variation of the common saying " The life you save may be your own". Basically, your behaviour may end up saving your own life. Hope this helps!

  • When James Dean Says,

'The Life You Might Save Is Mine'

I Was Wondering What Does He Mean By This?

If Anyone Could Help Me Out With This and Comment Back To Me That Would Be Really Wonderful!!

    Thank You!!

  • One of the eeriest coincidences EVER: one week after he made this commercial he would be killed in an auto accident when some other guy ran a stop sign and pulled out in front of him.

  • the irony

  • This... This is ironic. And deeply disturbing.

  • James Dean is the second person in history i would get high with, My first would be Bob Marley!!!

  • Cooler than cool

  • ironic....I like him :)

  • Wow. I just came. What a man... He really was something else.

  • Irony.

  • Hes hot.. :)

  • Fagg

  • when he says "this way or that way" his arm motion form a Y like the road he crashed on

  • Is James high in this video; he looks like it. I think the following video [linked below] would have worked better; how times have changed in regards to PSA's

    youtube.com/watch?v=CmDZfYIHPZE

  • was this actually intended as a public service announcement?

  • @pookiewook No not really. It was filmed as part of a behind the scenes series for TV. In that particular episode, they were covering the making of Rebel Without A Cause. They did interviews with a few members of the cast to find out what their off screen hobbies were :)

  • haha, jimmy.

  • freaky choice of words at the end.

  • 1:59 'The life you might save might be mine' ... O____o

  • No man comes close to this man. He was pure, genuine, and charming. And don't forget; handsome.

  • You kind of get the impression that he was doing it for the money, and that there was nothing sincere about what he said. That's part of his charm I suppose. As well he had crabs.

  • "the life you save might be mine"

    wow.

  • an eerie foreshadowing..

  • Wow, irony, seriously...

  • Interesting, he's either in his "Giant" character, or that AND he's doing a Marlon Brando imitation.

  • this is almost morbid to watch, considering what happened to him...

  • It's irony. Pure irony.

  • @TheBackOfTheBoat Yea, that's the point....... and thats what makes it the most sad.

  • The greatest. I'd say he even rivels Johnny Depp in the cool department.

  • Rivals? James Dean was real. He couldn't hide his beauty and pain.

  • His rivals were Marlon Brando and Montgomery Clift.

  • @HollywoodKing87 Yeah...his contemporary "comparisons" were Brando. He came across a lot different than Brando, however.

But to compare him to Johnny Depp is a joke. That was my point.

  • @foofwolf22 Johnny's not even on the same level.

  • It could be one day, the doctors and scientists of the future can get the DNA from his body and make an offspring of him. Perhaps have it look just like him.

  • @ck1film

so? you had a little whiny JD-DNA baby... that would just suck... literally...

  • @TheOnlyRealBeeQueen What would it eventually grow up to be?

  • It would have been nice to see what kind of other film rolls he would have done ,died away before his prime.

  • He's like Michael Madsen meets James Franco!

  • Cars were slower in 1955, 106 was very fast.

  • you're really intuitive

  • fuck you!

  • LOL

  • @title26 why would you say lol? james dean was my cousin and you're laughing at the fact he tragically died of the same thing he talks about here. Grow up man.

and on another note i just wanted to say, his pain was so real and that in itself made him one of the most real people to ever hit the screen.

  • @JoshSigurdsonMusic James Dean was not your cousin (good lie though), and this is hilarious because of the irony

  • @title26 no really, I've been to 5 archival libraries and all 5 show him as my 4th cousin, it may be watered down, but the fact is he's still my cousin, so don't tell me he's not when you obviously don't know.

  • @title26 Ha, yeh, this was shot 13 days before he died.

  • He died like right after he did this. Thats why they never aired it.

  • The real king of cool = Steve McQueen

  • Damn that's one cool-ass motherfucka.

  • James Franco has to be his kinfolk! Just has to be!

  • he was supposed to say at the end: drive carefully, because the life you save could be yours, but he said, could be mine...isnt that weird

  • kind of ironic eh?

  • Holy Moly

  • he was a real genious about knowing how to act well as he was acting in an interview like some people says here.its a shame he had to pass away soon after the interview.

  • isnt this 2 weeks before he dies? if he could have lasted long enough to see his dreams of directing..such a shame

  • James Dean is so cool, this is probably the only on film (or close to it) interview he ever did.

  • without a doubt one of the top 10 hottest guys of all time!

  • @chainsmokinchick

    Agreed!!!!!

  • great clip probably taken right before the scene with bick about the land that he inherited. seemed a little out of it the clip, probably did not want to do it.

  • oh god, 'the life you save might be mine', Turnipseed, why weren't you listening?!?!?!?!?!

  • danjo, the guy that wrote the book James Dean the Mutant King thought that name to be symbolic....Turn up seed....weird huh?

  • All these people saying wow he's soo cool. Yes he was, but understand this is a PSA, he is still acting in it.

  • Maybe but if you look at the pictures on sets when he doesn't know he was being photographed, you will notice his attitude was not a continuous "acting", he truly was cool!

  • I LOVE HIM!! he's so cool and he's such a good actor! we miss you jimmy!

  • Notice all the business with the rope while he is speaking (and the cigarette) - so cool!

  • I know James Dean was the most beautiful and sweet and interesting and sensitive man! Ever! I am sure!

  • I think my favorite part is when the interviewer says... "Need I add he plays a Texan." like he was worried people weren't going to take him seriously in that outfit. I also like how James Dean doesn't really answer the question "Have you ever been in a drag race?" so the interviewer answers for him.

  • i agree

  • Life is ironic, death is funny.
