True, that is in fact Roseman on oboe. He was my teacher at Juillard, but I didn't recognize him visually. The sound, however, brings back the memories - may he rest in peace.
where can i get my mits on the full version of this recording i have a video and all this interesting stuff wasn't on it. i was fleeced it cost me a fortune from HMV - thanks
I'd like to know the year of this recording. It seems to be from the late 70's or early 80's...Carreras was very young!
Olfux, thank you for sharing this masterpiece with us. I remember I watched it in Brazilian television by the year 1990, but it was never shown again here.
was living in Amsterdam mid-80s when i saw the recording on Dutch television and was so disappointedly never able to find it again ... till right now, that is ... thanks to the Beautiful People who have put this sublime gift up on Youtube ... i'm entirely beside myself; i'll share with you i've had tears rolling over my cheeks -and i haven't advanced beyond #4a yet- tears of pangs of deep longing for Lenny and his brilliances, and the joys and celebration of all singers musicians technicians
It must have been an honor for two of Leonard Bernstein's children to provide the speaking parts of Tony and Maria (though it is unfortunate that they weren't credited for it).
He's a GENIUS!!!!!

The young man and the young lady who are speaking in the "Cha-Cha" section are Alexander and Jamie Bernstein.

As far as I know you have the full version, if you go to my playlist and choose West Side Story - chopped into bits, I admit, but its all there.
