smash melee is way more technical than brawl... specially in melee, theres a lot of timing, canceling, and other stuff you can do which only top players will be able to master.
if you play it casually, its a fun, entertaining game as well.

Smashers have no problem with SF. SF players on the otherhand feel the need to go out of their way to bash on Smash and say it isn't a fighting game, when it should be obvious with even a glance at the metagame that it is infact, a fighting game. I feel like you guys just see Smash as the 4 player free for all game with items that people play at parties and such. It's a lot more than that, and it's a shame that you guys can't see that.
And what does it matter if Smash wasn't intended to be competitive? Basketball began as a recreational activity played with peach baskets and a soccerball. I seriously doubt that it was intended to become the competitive sport that it is today. Regardless of whether Sakurai had intended for Smash to be competitive or not, it doesn't change the fact that the game has a huge amount of depth.
Melee takes quite a bit of technical skill; don't hate on it if you don't know what you are talking about. It's definitely not something you just pick up and play, it takes a lot of skill and dedication to learn, just like any other good fighting game.

Super smash brothers melee requires insane bottom combinations just like other fighters. For example. Drill shining across FD, getting down the dysnc for the ice climbers, using the float cancel aspect of the float cancel characters 100$ SF series is by far better than smash and that should be clearly obvious. Ive been watching a ton of SF vids lately and in all the vids i have seen of the SF legends Daigo and Alex V. in SF4 they've been using Ryu instead of Ken (they're renowed for being the best Ken players in the world, at least on SF3) i wonder why.....
Ryus super is superior to kens in this game. In third strike, ken had a great super, easier combos, and safer attacks. That probably has changed in SF4
That isn't really accurate frost. It isn't known at this point at time which character is better. Daigo has always played Ryu typically and didn't in 3rd strike because Ken was far better. SF4 is a completely different game however, and nobody really knows which character is better. So far, the game is pretty balanced, so it is up to personal preference. Who pros are playing as has no relation to which characters are better or worse in the tier list at this point in time.
its quite easy to see how easy it is to link into ryus super fireball from a falling opponent, daigo uses it in almost everyone of his matches. Ken has a close range that isnt utilized as much. I wont argue with you though, i agree that every SF4 char is balanced and developed, i was simply mentioning some reasons as to why daigo (and his style of player) are choosing ryu for sf4 since ditching him in 3,

If smash is as great as they say it is, then how come we don't see it in the arcades nowadays? That's because no one finds it challenging enough. Tekken, SF and the rest came out for arcade first before making it to consoles.
SSB is ok for party play; but it's so "deep" that the joke is the truth "Fox only. No items. Final destination."
That's scrubby thinking like "Ken only. No fireballs. Cammy stage." There is your depth and competiveness; that you have to reduce the game to it's minimum expression before finding balance.
SF, SC, Tekken all have tiers; but you aren't limited to just one character to make it a viable fighter. SSB is not a fighting game.
Was was the result of last year's EVO for Third Strike? Wasn't like, all of them Chuns? While characters all the way down to mid tier win tournaments on their own in smash? I'm pretty sure what truth you're talking about here now : the SRK one.

Melee is pretty damn balanced within the high tiers, and even some low tier characters have good matchups vs high tiers.
Looking at the last big Melee tournament (Revival of Melee), the top 10, off the top of my head, included Jigglypuff, Marth, Fox, Falco, Ganondorf, Ice Climbers, Sheik, and Peach. I see a lot more than Fox there.

I've read a few of the comments here and I have to say that Super Smash Brothers Melee and Street Fighter are two of the deepest fighters out right now.
Melee deeper than Soul Calibur or Guilty Gear? I'd think not. Not much of a SC player as a SF or GG player, but still... The balance in Melee is so one-sided, and hinders some of the "deep" qualities that Melee (or Smash series as a whole) is said to have.
As a whole the series is dick because of Brawl. Unlike traditional fighters Melee should not be looked at as part of a whole, it is a unique and individual game.
SSBM is not Deep at all, it's fun and you can get good at it, but it's very simple and easy to figure out, theres about 2 or 3 attack buttons and very limited moves.
There may not be many moves, but smash is deeper on other levels other than that. Spacing, edgeguarding, not to mention the numerous advanced techs as well as proper DI (which includes two stick DI and smash DI). I won't list all the advanced techs here, but you can find them at smashboards.
actually almost every attack can be used for combos, and if you count 20 ish moves in which can be connected with the other attacks very limited, then you got some issues. ssbb now that game can be made fun of. ssbm can be played competitively
also, fuck club sega. Those fuckers charge 100 yen a game and still have it only set on best of 3, not best of 5 like 90% of other arcades then they say no filming.
What a bunch of stingy cunts. I should boycott their arcade for good and stick to 50yen ikebukuro land

I'm not the best sf4 player out there, I regularly play at shinjuku west though. I've beaten daigo 3 times, although he's beaten me over 20 times. He has the most battle points at the moment but he's not the hardest player I've fought, that'll be those cheap ass top blanka players, fuck them all.

the game that takes the most strategy is definitely tekken.also after any tekken game come sf3 3rd strike.with the parrying and one super art really made u have to think.now ssbm is indeed a great game but that game i think takes less strategy but takes more thinkin under pressure.so they are all good fighters but the best fighting game series up to date are street fghter and tekken.these games will never die!

Melee takes quite a bit of technical skill; don't hate on it if you don't know what you are talking about. It's definitely not something you just pick up and play, it takes a lot of skill and dedication to learn, just like any other good fighting game.

Super smash brothers melee requires insane bottom combinations just like other fighters. For example. Drill shining across FD, getting down the dysnc for the ice climbers, using the float cancel aspect of the float cancel characters 100$ SF series is by far better than smash and that should be clearly obvious. No game beats the SF series its like impossible. however, Smash melee is MUCH more than a fighting game. BRAWL is the party game

Ive been watching a ton of SF vids lately and in all the vids i have seen of the SF legends Daigo and Alex V. in SF4 they've been using Ryu instead of Ken (they're renowed for being the best Ken players in the world, at least on SF3) i wonder why.....

Ryus super is superior to kens in this game. In third strike, ken had a great super, easier combos, and safer attacks. That probably has changed in SF4

That isn't really accurate frost. It isn't known at this point at time which character is better. Daigo has always played Ryu typically and didn't in 3rd strike because Ken was far better. SF4 is a completely different game however, and nobody really knows which character is better. So far, the game is pretty balanced, so it is up to personal preference. Who pros are playing as has no relation to which characters are better or worse in the tier list at this point in time.

its quite easy to see how easy it is to link into ryus super fireball from a falling opponent, daigo uses it in almost everyone of his matches. Ken has a close range that isnt utilized as much. I wont argue with you though, i agree that every SF4 char is balanced and developed, i was simply mentioning some reasons as to why daigo (and his style of player) are choosing ryu for sf4 since ditching him in 3,

Smash is a good game but nowhere near as great or competitive as Tekken, SF, MVC2, CVS2, etc.
If smash is as great as they say it is, then how come we don't see it in the arcades nowadays? That's because no one finds it challenging enough. Tekken, SF and the rest came out for arcade first before making it to consoles.

SSB is ok for party play; but it's so "deep" that the joke is the truth "Fox only. No items. Final destination."
That's scrubby thinking like "Ken only. No fireballs. Cammy stage." There is your depth and competiveness; that you have to reduce the game to it's minimum expression before finding balance.
SF, SC, Tekken all have tiers; but you aren't limited to just one character to make it a viable fighter. SSB is not a fighting game.

Melee is pretty damn balanced within the high tiers, and even some low tier characters have good matchups vs high tiers.
Looking at the last big Melee tournament (Revival of Melee), the top 10, off the top of my head, included Jigglypuff, Marth, Fox, Falco, Ganondorf, Ice Climbers, Sheik, and Peach. I see a lot more than Fox there.

Melee deeper than Soul Calibur or Guilty Gear? I'd think not. Not much of a SC player as a SF or GG player, but still... The balance in Melee is so one-sided, and hinders some of the "deep" qualities that Melee (or Smash series as a whole) is said to have.

SSBM is not Deep at all, it's fun and you can get good at it, but it's very simple and easy to figure out, theres about 2 or 3 attack buttons and very limited moves.

There may not be many moves, but smash is deeper on other levels other than that. Spacing, edgeguarding, not to mention the numerous advanced techs as well as proper DI (which includes two stick DI and smash DI). I won't list all the advanced techs here, but you can find them at smashboards.

actually almost every attack can be used for combos, and if you count 20 ish moves in which can be connected with the other attacks very limited, then you got some issues. ssbb now that game can be made fun of. ssbm can be played competitively

I'm not the best sf4 player out there, I regularly play at shinjuku west though. I've beaten daigo 3 times, although he's beaten me over 20 times. He has the most battle points at the moment but he's not the hardest player I've fought, that'll be those cheap ass top blanka players, fuck them all.

the game that takes the most strategy is definitely tekken.also after any tekken game come sf3 3rd strike.with the parrying and one super art really made u have to think.now ssbm is indeed a great game but that game i think takes less strategy but takes more thinkin under pressure.so they are all good fighters but the best fighting game series up to date are street fghter and tekken.these games will never die!
