Just tried to look up the lyrics in Stinky Turner´s "Cockney Reject"-book where he put down his memories of that time. Didn´t find them but it says there that they all hated the lyrics because Jimmy Pursey wrote them, out of his mind, and convinced the band to use them in the song, which they later did regret.
Jimmy Pursey may not have written all of the lyrics, but the chorus he did write. Don´t like that fact, too. Once met the guy in 1988 in a hotel lobby where Sham 69 checked in. I recognized JP and he introduced his band kindly: "Yes, I am Jimmy Pursey, this is Dave Parsons, and the rest are a pile of shit." The gig he played that night made it sound the other way round.

I missed em the first time round. Had no ££ for the Cedar Club gig, and the Digbeth Civic Hall gig in October 80 was cancelled at the last minute.
Saw em quite a lot when they reformed. Including gigs at South Shields and Hartlepool. At least one of em is from Sunderland, so its about time they got themselves to Geordieland. Come on, Rejects. Play Newcastle Trillians or the Carling Academy.

Just tried to look up the lyrics in Stinky Turner´s "Cockney Reject"-book where he put down his memories of that time. Didn´t find them but it says there that they all hated the lyrics because Jimmy Pursey wrote them, out of his mind, and convinced the band to use them in the song, which they later did regret.

Jimmy Pursey may not have written all of the lyrics, but the chorus he did write. Don´t like that fact, too. Once met the guy in 1988 in a hotel lobby where Sham 69 checked in. I recognized JP and he introduced his band kindly: "Yes, I am Jimmy Pursey, this is Dave Parsons, and the rest are a pile of shit." The gig he played that night made it sound the other way round.

The live clips inserted in the video are from the rejects first live gig outside London, Bradford in fact winter 1980. Mass stage invasion during there last song which was Hate of the city. Im sure as well during singing greatest cockney rip off he replace maybe it because im a londerner with maybe its because Im a yorkshireman and I love Leeds utd, which is ironic playing just at the back of bradford citys ground valley parade.
