  • i really want to try this! but does it have to be oil paint? can we use acrylic paint for this as well? Thanks! :)

  • @89angeldreamer I was asking myself the same thing, so i gave it a go with acrylics, and it looked awesome! it's just that, you have to be quick with acrylics because it tends to dry much quicker than oils :)

  • excellent tutorial

  • You are an incredible artist and a great teacher. You make a beginners painting look like masterpiece. Thank you!!

  • I'll start with a technical drawing of this painting

=) i hope that i do it just like you

  • can you use those mediums when painting with acrylics??

  • @naninunchucks004 Well, I'm not Mr. Bickford, but the answer is yes. Acrylics dry so much faster than oils, though,(oils can take days to dry) so you need to either work quickly or make many dry layers to create a smooth grade like he did. Also, for the thinner he's talking about, use water to thin acrylics. You can get acrylic thinners/thickeners, but I find that water works just as well.

  • you are the best im am drawing one just like yours to give it as a christmass gift , thank you instructor :D

  • great video, very low sound...can barely hear even with my volume 100%

  • very usefull........nice...

  • really helpful!! thankss

  • To prime the canvas with my Black Gesso, I simply use a disposable foam brush. ( hardware store variety ) You can wash it in running water to re-use again, if you wish. One coat will be slightly streaky, so let it dry for 10 minutes and apply another light coat. The gesso will dry in minutes on it's own ( I'd wait 30 minutes before applying the Oils ), or you can use a hair dryer and get right to it!

  • You are an amazing instructor .Thank you.

  • can you please show us how to prime with gesso. how long do we need to wait for it to dry.

    Thank you so much.

  • I've been watching Mr. Bickford for some time now and he really has helped me develop my painting techniques
