  • Hearing the wounderful Christopher Lee as Death make this show so worth watching.

  • ...I shall -whoop

    lol

  • Dark and funny at the same time. everyone's happy at the end, except for Lady Felmet

  • lol..its cobra commander

  • haha too all the uplands ppl watching this this is whats going to get us 2 pass tomo good luck and 4 shure iv watched them all now so do you thanx to creaters saved us a lot of reading

  • @Koden The fool is the son of the previous fool and the queen.

    He isn't descended from royalty.

(The witches and the real prince simply didn't tell anyone)

0:45 "and her majesty told me who his father was" (the previous fool)

0:57 "you know what they say: fools rush in while the king's away"

The fool who is now king of lancre is the illegitimate child of the queen and the former court jester.

He states near the beginning that his father was a jester.

  • @IronyIsGood If I remember right, it's open to interpretation. It's been a while since I read the source material, so I can't remember off hand how they treated it and Wikipedia isn't too helpful since the article about the book says one thing, and the article about the character says it's open to interpretation.

  • Death ith the best "when im nota ghost why are you here" "WAITING"

  • coo that took some watching, swell worth it though

  • was that a hint of octarine i saw there at the end?

  • Death, smiling like always :)

  • Also Nanny ogg is just about the most huggable friendly grandma-ish witch ever in this. (Just don't get on the bad side of her cat.)

  • Man, the animation in this isn't very good, but the voice acting, character design, and script is incredible. A+ in spite of the choppy animation because a good story can make mediocre animation inconsequential.

  • Actually I should clarify...the animation is INCONSISTENT. There are scenes where the animation is good.

I am guessing that the animators who drew the keys were very skilled by the in-betweening was a rush job, except for a few scenes where the animation is pretty good quality. (Such as the one with the demon from the cauldron.)

  • Please upload the rest!

  • hehe ima gunna play the fool

  • I love you. Thanks for this series.

  • Why do they Witches have West Country accents? Lancre is clearly based on (rural) Lancashire.

That said, they have made the fool from Liverpool- farcical.

  • I could have swore that in the book Granny just made up the Fool's royal blood and everybody just accepted it.

  • They implied that both the fool and the king's son were actually fathered by the older king's fool

  • I didn't like Magrat's voice either. I thought she wore mostly black, had next to no breasts (in fact, Pratchett uses the phrase "two peas on an ironing board" to describe them), and I thought the jewelry she wore was hand wrought silver, and isn't she supposed to have dark eyeliner on? I don't like the pink flower in her hair. She looks more like a hippie than a witch. I imagined her to be more new age goth.

  • nah cause she was all vegan and peace n luv n stuff

  • I know she was vegan or something, but Pratchett describes her as wearing a ton of black eye liner and wearing silver occult jewelry and crystals. This just seems odd to me. Maybe I got the wrong impression. I'll have to read it again, fine by me :)

Did anybody else think Magrat was supposed to look different than this? Am I the only one?

  • I think the hippie look is quite suitable because in many ways margrat is like a hippie. She uses eyeliner but not pale, goth makeup. And she doesn't like wearing black. The failed attempt at goth is more Agnes' thing.

  • And yes, she wears flower and twigs in her hair, but for superstitious magic purposes. She plays being a witch by the book. It's not a hippie thing. If a witches manual or spellbook said "wear rosemary in your hair and a vile of creek water around your neck to ward off malicious intruders, she would do just that. Weatherwax and Ogg kinda play by their own rules and experiences. Magrat is a textbook witch, that's why she turns to the other two so much, she's in training. Not a hippie.

  • I know she's not a hippie. That's why I said she's LIKE a hippie. It's a simile.

  • I'm not insulting you. I'm just saying that there is a word for what she is- newage.

  • and all I'm saying is that the way margrat's been depicted in this cartoon is pretty accurate and true to the book, and a more goth-like look would not be appropriate.

  • Margrat is the 'druid hippie' type of witch rather than a goth.

  • I hate Magrat's voice... >>

  • Odd, in the book, the duchess left Lancre, she wasn't attacked by tress.

  • Can you please upload more Wyrd Sisters?

  • immmm thinking this used to be on abc at about 5.30 in the 90s.. when i was young and it used to frighten me... i think

  • I just want to find the whole thing on DVD or somewhere like it.

  • where can i see this on tv? ive never heard of it

  • You could read the book. Then you could see it in your head.

  • lancre forever ^^

  • i like that death hes funny ^ ^

  • Verrence is Fool's and another woman's Son, TomJon is Queen's and Fool's son - That way seems to have the least inconsistencies.

  • i thought they were brothers...unless i remember wrong

  • Better than Hollywaood at least

  • Eww tree vore :P

I need a new copy of the book mine is long gone

  • try ebay

  • I think that the book version of Lady Felmet's death is a bit better. The woodland creatures line up on her, she pulls a knife and charges them all, and presumably gets torn to shreds later.

But... it's made up for, in massive spades, by Lord Felmet's last scene. Gawd, he's such a wackjob, but it's so awesome!

  • So ... is Verence (The Fool) the son of the king or the son of the king's wife? That bit confuses me. Would that mean that Tom-John takes after the actress that was Fool's mother if he wasn't the king's son?

  • If I recall, the fool is the illegitimate child of the king and another woman. So they are half brothers.

  • ah crap, hit remove instead of reply.

"That's what i thought, at first. But then Magrat says, 'but Verence was her husband. So... ohhh'. Does that mean that the queen cheated on the king, or did the king cheat on the queen?"

To answer your question, Magrat is kind of slow, the king cheated, else the kid woulden't be of royal blood since if the queen cheated it wouldn't of mattered.

  • I THINK that the text is actually right, and the queen cheated on the king with the previous Fool and gave birth to the current Fool/King Verence II. Even if under traditional rules, royal blood passes through the king only, the people of Lancre have never been very keen on those kinda rules and don't really care who his father was as long as he's on the throne and it all sounds legitimate.

Not to mention that's the kind of ass-backwards thing that Pratchett would do.

  • Actually, in the book, and later ones they talk about The Fool not actually being of royal blood, he was the son of the queen and the previous fool. But Lancre doesn't really care.

  • @Koden

Based on the book, I'd say that they both the King and the Queen cheated on each other. So, either both Verence and Tom-John are the King's sons, or none are (the Fool's father was a very likable person and the King was away so often...).

Either way, everyone was happy in the end, so let's be glad there is no DNA on Discworld.

  • Well it was a pretty good adaptation i think :).

  • LMAO!!!

    "Why are you here?'

    WAITING

"Wait forever, boneface! I shall in the twilight world! I shall find some chains to shake, s-*whoop!*"

    Arrrrrrrrrgh!!!

"I SHALL HAUNT AT THE CORRIDORS, AND WHISPER AT THEIR DOORS!!! AHAHAHAHA!!!"

    NOW YOU'RE TALKING.

lmao that's like the best part. lol

  • The ending was a bit of an anticlimax.

  • that chicken house over there looks like it would go up nicely!! lol hehehe

  • "Can I set fire to the privy then?"

    "NO!"

    LOLZ

  • I wish they'd make lords and ladies. That'd be awesome.

  • Excellant! As great as the classic Soul Music!

  • Brilliant me and my amateur drama group put on the play adapted by Stephen Briggs Its a fantastic story I miss acting in it

  • Can't wait till someone uploads it so I can DL and post it on youtube :P

  • If you do, give me a message about that. I'd love to watch it. :D

  • A charming ending...thank you very much ^_^.

  • I liked Verence much more as a fool. It was something about jumping and bells that was making him just incredibly cute...

  • the queen reminds of Major Iceborg from the "The Fifth Element"

  • Yay! I can't get enough Terry Pratchett. Anyone know of any others besides Soul Music, and Hogfather?

  • I'm afraid that they're all that're out at the moment but I think that they might be making Wee Free Men soon.

  • There's 'Johnny and the Bomb' TV series, I think.

  • Colour of Magic/The Light Fantastic is coming out March 3. Live action!! :D:D:D

  • Where? This year?

  • In the UK, and yes, this year. It should appear somewhere on the Internet soon.

  • Thanks. I wish people were more enthusiastic about Discworld here in the States. The Hogswatch movie screamed "low budget" but I thoroughly enjoyed it nonetheless. Imagine what a Discworld movie could be like with the funding of some of the larger Hollywood flicks out there...

  • Sorry, I made a mistake, it's March 23rd, not 3rd. And yes, a Discworld movie with funding would be incredible!! But then, of course, thousands of people would jump on the bandwagon, which would lead to insane commercialism and merchandising and Rincewind stuffed dolls and all the rest, so I think it's better how it is now.

  • Terry pratchette once replied to a reporter on how much money he had, that he had enoght to stop discworld from becomeing films. He dislikes the idea of it being on a large scale, he just happy at making hes already strong cult following happy. Im just happy he like the tv version well enoght to let them make more.

  • Thank you Koden, thank you very much.

  • OOoooohhh!!!!

    It was Jane Horrocks!!

No wonder I found her voice so damn delicious!!!

  • "What are you doing, then?

    I'M WAITING.

Wait forever, boneface! I'll hover in the twilight aaaarggghhhh..."*lolz*

  • I am soooo pleased you provided this. And now, can an American buy this on a DVD? The Hogfather is great but I can't buy it until its in a DVD format I can play in the states.

  • yay the end! i waited sooo long thank you

  • Thank you so much for uploading these final episodes. Great fun.

  • At long last! Nothing is perfect, but it was a fine enough adaptation. Thanks for uploading it!
