Diana, Flo and Mary made the Supremes but Diana is the Core/Foundation of the group you can replace Mary and Flo but never Diana or else the group is bound to fall just like what already happened when they tried to replace Diane when she left NO DIANA! It doesn't make any difference because the legendary sound couldn't be replicated without Flo anyway.......and that could never happen! She was 20 when she sang with the Supremes. She would be a wonder if she would still sound like the Diane who sang with the Supremes.

And she doesn't only wear that red dress. You should watch more videos with her and not only the ones where she doesn't sound that good.

I really dont understand you Haters of diane. Lionel richie still sings songs from the Commodores(brickhouse, easy, three times a lady) Smokey still sings Mircales songs, Paul Mccartney still sings Beatles songs and the Beatles were over in 1970. Yet diana cant sing songs she sang lead on and because of HER voice became no.1s..if you dont Love Child and Someday well be together made it to no.1. there were NO Supremes on either record. No mary flo or Cindy yet it made it to No.1 just diane.

Everyone likes to point out when the Andantes were on Supremes' recordings; however, no one brings up that Diane is supposed to be a SOLO performer. With her voice sounding the way that it does, there are other SUPREMES TRIBUTE ARTISTS who sing those songs much better. She BETTER hold on to those background singers AND that orchestra. As you are probably aware Diana is on the 2nd leg of her North American tour and wowing the crowds with her(by many accounts) all too brief show.

It seems that some of her fans are shocked at the short running time of approx 70 minutes, but the fact is they are turning out in their thousands to see her.

Many seasoned Diana reviewers are also commenting on how good her voice is. Whatever it is she does , she seems to be doing a lot right, just too little of it for most fans.

@doolie50 The "Ross as a solo act" fans demand very little from her to be WOWED. For the most part, her show is an "oldies" show. During the first part, she becomes a SUPREMES TRIBUTE ARTIST. In the second part of the show, she sings her oldies from her "solo" career. Her shows are no different from Bobby Vinton, Smokey Robinson, or any of the other performers from the 60's and 70's who still tour. I'm not going to cut Diane a break, Doolie.........I have issues with her!

What would you expect her perform?

She's Diana Ross and she has been performing her life's work for nearly 50 years ,and is still touring.

That is no mean feat these days as careers soar and burn out in next to no time.

The difference with the guys you mention is that people like Smokey never reached the heights Diana did, and no-one in Europe knows who Bobby Vinton is,so their will seem dated.

No matter how much it has ruined your life, she is a superstar, it's just the way it is.

Mary Wilson(of the Supremes)just to remind people who she is.

In the ad she then goes on to list her supposed hits as if people don't know The supremes songs.

What they do know however, is that she only ever sang the oohs and aahs ,that's why the ad is appearing weekly for a show next year at a 2,000 seat theatre, and the Chi-lites are sharing the bill

@doolie50 Yes, Smokey Robinson and his group never hit the heights that Diane did with THE SUPREMES, that is true; however, By going out and singing as a SUPREMES TRIBUTE ARTIST and then singing solo hits from 30 to 40 years ago night after night makes her an "oldies" act..........a glorified one, but an "oldies act nonetheless. She names each of her tours.........but they're all the same.......oldies but goodies! If she went out and did new material on tour, people wouldn't be as interested!

That's why the tour was extended, and is resuming this month for another run.

And that is just the US.

The rest of the world is also waiting for her to tour with this new show.

I , for one, can't wait for her to come to the UK,she's just so fabulous.

The group name was changed after Flo left to prepare for DIANES'S solo career. The general public was certainly aware of the name THE SUPREMES; however, at that time, it was not familiar with the name DIANA ROSS! If you read carefully, Pandallama, that is what I said!

She is not concerned with the Supremes' legacy, only her own. When Mary Wilson (the other Supreme) sings those songs, you know that she is paying homage to the legendary trio. When Diane sings those songs, she is paying homage to herself. That is why I can not stand Diane.

You ask what it is with us Supremes fans? It is you Ross as a solo act fans comparing THE LEGENDARY SUPREMES with such groups as The Miracles and The Commodores (groups where only the lead singers were known).

If you want to compare, compare the Supremes with the Beatles...that's closer!

Our other issue is that you see Diane in the Supremes as a solo act. There was no such concept as Diane without the Supremes (even after the name changed). I would be happy if she stopped singing THEIR songs!
