i have an old RP6 from 1996, bought it when i was 17 and still using it!! To be honest, i can't find anything that has a rich 80's metal (bettencourt) tone compared to the way my RP6 is set.. Every guiatrist asks me what im using when they here me rip into decadence dance..The factory presets on the RP6 were horrid but you could get a good rich tone if you worked on it.. I like this video btw.. The Digitech still has it.. would love to hear some user tones!!
@jayvijay28 I doubt that buzzing comes from the unit in the first place....my RP is really quiet but I use proper cables do not sit close to TV or lightbulbs etc...I do not have other units connnected to it before or after...my guitars a shielded, most of the time I use humbuckers which are naturally quieter than single coils

@RomanticPopPunk On that video as you can tell in the intro I used an amp with an microphone to record. I do use the Rps quite often directly using their USB outs. Then you have to activate the speaker sim and amp models and you sound great...well I am happy with the sounds I get...check out my RP500 video which is recorded like this

I have 3 FX units (Zoom 5050ii, Zoom A2.1u and the Digitech RP55). The 55 is the easiest to use for creating and storing your own effects - also VERY easy to bounce stored effects to make your own sequences. Sound quality is excellent. The RP55 has been replaced by an upgrade unit, so if you find an RP55 at a mark-down price, go for it. The RP155 includes a 20 second looper, but personally I'd recommend going for a dedicated looper if that's something you want.The Digitech Solo is excellent.

@MortusThrash It is not it has improved models as well as a better processor...next generation....but the differences are minimal...the functions are even the same but the 55 has some more models too
I have a digitech rp100a and suddenly it's been glitching after about 10 minutes of usage to the point where i have to turn it off until it does it again (usually sooner the second time) any idea what it could be? or how it could be fixed?
@Nicksanspeed sounds like your RP100a has a serious problem. Well saying that...you are using the original powersupply dont you?...if not check that first
if i buy a cheap volume controller , does it make the wah job like the expensive one ? ,,, and if i buy it can i use the controller as a wah pedal in all preset or it is just preset 13 ???
@menagamalguitar An expression pedal can control various effectsof the RP in real time...wah, whammy, volume, distortion, delay level etc etc...it must be an expression pedal though. A Volume pedal is not necessarily a Expression pedal. The wah can be engaged in any of the presets and controlled by the Expression pedal just like any other effect too
@NytroMetal No intentionally....I improvise a lot when I do videos and I create riffs inspired by the presets....if that one sounds like Overkill it was a coincidence

@evildead2rocks seems like you are having an external problem. Believe me the RP distorts like crazy. Pls check your cable or the output of your guitar.....and also if you have the speaker simu on on the RP
hi, i was wondering if u could help me... when i connect the pedal even if its bypasses i get hum, not horrible, but still i can hear it... in low volumes it sounds PERFECT but if i crank it a little bit it goes al hum and hiss :( 2x12 amp/gibson guitar. is there anything i can do to make it better? (already using comp & noisegate)
@rawrfosho So if you get hum when it is bypassed the hum does not come from the RP....makes sense? I assume you are having a ground problem...check all of the components by themselves Rp with headphones...just your amp.....etc etc...if any of these components sound fine by themselves you have a so called groundloop....which has to do with the power you are connected to. Try connecting everything to the same outlet
@BaphometStudios I think the shortest delay is something around 120ms....if you are interested in editing the effects that way upgarde yourself to a RP155/255/355
I recently bought this pedal, and I really like it. I do have a question for anyone who can help. Since this pedal allows the user to adjust the bass,middle and treb, and I have a bass,mid and treb on my amp, which do I use? Do I set the amp at "12", or...you following me? I am not sure how to deal with have an eq on both the amp and the pedal.
@andlin103 All of the sounds recorded on this video are factory presets in the RP....I cannot recall all of the effects which are on each presets....but if you have the pedal or check it out your sounds should be the same......or you can download the manual to learn about the effects being used in the presets
i brought this pedal and its horrible all the effects suck especially the wah never buy any of digitechs stuff apart from the digitech whammy if you want a nice tone just buy some boss stomp boxes and make your own style
So is it worth it to someone with a small budget but wants to dabble in effects? I have 3 distortion pedals and a dunlop wah, and I want to explore the more subtle side of guitar tone.
@nubbinnoob oh then this pedal will open up a new world to you.....in your position I would even consider going for a larher unit like the RP155....advantage here you have access to all of the parameters

@JMRG2992 Yes you can reset the pedal...there is a reset section at the end of the manual...it is pretty easy but to avoid mistakes I wont write how to perfom a factory reset here...pls refer to the manual

@zakapuntas I cant really say what that is from not hearing what you mean on preset 1 and 40 but maybe it is a good idea to perform a factory reset to bring back the pedals original settings. Please be aware if you do a reset it will delete all the settings and changes you have done so far
@nicholasczapiewski There are....after you have gone thru the factory presets you reach the user presets which are an identical copy when you first open the box. Only on user presets you can save changes the factory presets cannot be changed as they serve for your future reference
Very nice demonstration work, Ralf. Digitech should hire you. I've been thinking for months about getting one of these multi-effect thingies instead of creating a cable web with pedals all over the place (which I already had once). @Macsk8ing Yes sure....this will work. Digitech has quite a few users which are organists or key players using their effects.....just be careful with the line outs dont make them too loud so the effects stay clean
Could you do a video direct to computer? (Or interface or whatever you have your mic going to.) 'cause then it's only your guitar and the pedal, thusly it's closer to telling people if they really want the pedal, since it's not their guitar or amp, so it might sound a bit different, but you can't use their guitars, so it's the closest you can get to everyone's rig.
@Songwriter4God Hi there - I did this with various other pedals and everytime I record a pedal one way somebody comes along and asks for the other way...smile...I am sure you can find other videos of that product with direct recording. You got a point there, recorded directly it is closer to everyone elses rig out there....
RE: AC 9V adapter - did a little research on adapters and found that:
1) you should match the voltage (9V) output for the RP55
2) ma output rating is the MAX output for the adapter; the ma output should match or exceed the "current draw" of the device being powered. The RP55 needs 300ma.
I'm using a 9V 1000ma adapter to power my RP55 with no problem.
@mistered45 Thx for that. Usually a unit only draws the power it needs and I am speaking ampere here buuuuut if something would fail (because of some reason noboday can really control like wrong labeling etc) I dont want to be blamed so I always stick with the recommandation the manual says.
@slideon I dont know this powersupply but Digitech warns you to not use anything else but their own powersupply which is in that case a DC 9v with 300mA and it is called PS200R
@RcUniverseGuy Sorry to step in here....not any will do it must have 300mA plus you need to be aware that if you use not a Harman powersupply you loose warranty in case something happens
@ralfjung dude honestly you just want people to buy it from digitec.... lets be real here.. i've used this 600mA 9v adapter for at least 2 years on it and its still fine so whatever your talking about is bullshit to get people to buy the digitec one.. you talk about the warranty being voided WHY?? basically your telling me there gonna void the warranty if you don't use their own brand of 9v adapter what kind of scam is that? warranty is bullshit anyway.. how will they know what adapter was used?
@RcUniverseGuy ...believe me I have no benefit if people are buying Digitechs adapter or any other adapter which is out there. I am just aware of things like destroying units by using wrong adapters. Plus on many adapters the specs are documented wrong. So my goal is to make people aware that they are in terms or warranty only on the safe side if they do what the warranty regulations say - thats all. Lets face it I can give advice here I dont force or tell people what to do.
@slideon I hardly play riffs from someone else to avoid problems with those unemployed lawyers.....the riff you mention is one of my riffs...I probably made this up in that second for that sound.....

@Epidot335 Yes you can but you need to place it before in the signal chain. Actually there is a Cry Baby built-in all you need is an expression pedal to use the internal one....you can choose between 3 different wahs by the way
ralf one question, does the rp355 has the same effects than the rp55? or better can the distortions be modifyed to obtain the sound we look for? and the processor rp55 has an effect called sustainium, can that be found on rp355? would you recommend the rp355 instead? it has more to play with i guess. thanks
@viasi1 The higher you go in the RP series the more you get for your money. The next higher product will include all the features of the one below....it starts with the RP55...the RP90 has everything and more the 155 has more than the 90 and the 355 has more than the 255 which has more than the 155...etc etc

@pokemon777master Hi there...it is kind of hard to say what that is you should write or call a Digitech support team. It could be old batteries in case you use batteries or the wrong powersupply. Please use only the PS200R powersupply made by Digitech it is a DC 9V powersupply. Using other incorrect powersupplies can damage the unit.
Worst case you have a software problem and if you can get rid of this performing a factory reset you need to contact Digitech.
@demonwx10 It is very easy...plug the powersupply and then hold the store buttom and replug the powersupply....then this is followed by pressing some buttoms....I dont wroite it down here as I want you to read the manual (which you can download for free at the digitech homepage) to avoid any mistakes
@hector4295 I used only factory presets...so if you have the pedal use the preset for acoustic....use the middle pickup or if you use a strat some intermediate pickup position between bridge and middle pickups....in a 5 way switch position 2 and 4 works great
i bought a digitech rp55 today, and so far i really love it ;) wud have bought the rp70 but it costed too much :P and i don't regret that i bought this1, still working on getting some own setting tho, but its very fun!!!!! i do reccoment this1

@dannyelectri yes sure you can use your guitar as long as it has a pickup like an electric guitar....a piezo will be tricky you need to program a bit but it is also possible

hi, i was wondering if u could help me... when i connect the pedal even if its bypasses i get hum, not horrible, but still i can hear it... in low volumes it sounds PERFECT but if i crank it a little bit it goes al hum and hiss :( 2x12 amp/gibson guitar. is there anything i can do to make it better? (already using comp & noisegate)

@rawrfosho So if you get hum when it is bypassed the hum does not come from the RP....makes sense? I assume you are having a ground problem...check all of the components by themselves Rp with headphones...just your amp.....etc etc...if any of these components sound fine by themselves you have a so called groundloop....which has to do with the power you are connected to. Try connecting everything to the same outlet

@BaphometStudios I think the shortest delay is something around 120ms....if you are interested in editing the effects that way upgarde yourself to a RP155/255/355

I recently bought this pedal, and I really like it. I do have a question for anyone who can help. Since this pedal allows the user to adjust the bass,middle and treb, and I have a bass,mid and treb on my amp, which do I use? Do I set the amp at "12", or...you following me? I am not sure how to deal with have an eq on both the amp and the pedal.

@andlin103 All of the sounds recorded on this video are factory presets in the RP....I cannot recall all of the effects which are on each presets....but if you have the pedal or check it out your sounds should be the same......or you can download the manual to learn about the effects being used in the presets

i brought this pedal and its horrible all the effects suck especially the wah never buy any of digitechs stuff apart from the digitech whammy if you want a nice tone just buy some boss stomp boxes and make your own style

hello ther nice video first of all. well i pay for my rp 55 and looked pretty cool anyway i noticed that the most part the sounds ain't like you play in ther 1-20 actually no ,no one ain't them are same. so my question is theres anyway to reset to the original sounds of the presets, or can you tell me how to make an distorsion preset liek its used on metallica(normal Distorsion on the Amp) also if you could tell hw to make the presets :D well thanks anyway

@JMRG2992 Yes you can reset the pedal...there is a reset section at the end of the manual...it is pretty easy but to avoid mistakes I wont write how to perfom a factory reset here...pls refer to the manual

@zakapuntas I cant really say what that is from not hearing what you mean on preset 1 and 40 but maybe it is a good idea to perform a factory reset to bring back the pedals original settings. Please be aware if you do a reset it will delete all the settings and changes you have done so far

@nicholasczapiewski There are....after you have gone thru the factory presets you reach the user presets which are an identical copy when you first open the box. Only on user presets you can save changes the factory presets cannot be changed as they serve for your future reference

Very nice demonstration work, Ralf. Digitech should hire you. I've been thinking for months about getting one of these multi-effect thingies instead of creating a cable web with pedals all over the place (which I already had once). I've been looking around and studiying each one I could find. Well, you convinced me. This RP 55 seems like the right way to try this. Thanks a lot!

@Macsk8ing Yes sure....this will work. Digitech has quite a few users which are organists or key players using their effects.....just be careful with the line outs dont make them too loud so the effects stay clean

Could you do a video direct to computer? (Or interface or whatever you have your mic going to.) 'cause then it's only your guitar and the pedal, thusly it's closer to telling people if they really want the pedal, since it's not their guitar or amp, so it might sound a bit different, but you can't use their guitars, so it's the closest you can get to everyone's rig.

RE: AC 9V adapter - did a little research on adapters and found that:
1) you should match the voltage (9V) output for the RP55
2) ma output rating is the MAX output for the adapter; the ma output should match or exceed the "current draw" of the device being powered. The RP55 needs 300ma.
I'm using a 9V 1000ma adapter to power my RP55 with no problem.

@mistered45 Thx for that. Usually a unit only draws the power it needs and I am speaking ampere here buuuuut if something would fail (because of some reason noboday can really control like wrong labeling etc) I dont want to be blamed so I always stick with the recommandation the manual says.

@slideon I dont know this powersupply but Digitech warns you to not use anything else but their own powersupply which is in that case a DC 9v with 300mA and it is called PS200R

@ralfjung dude honestly you just want people to buy it from digitec.... lets be real here.. i've used this 600mA 9v adapter for at least 2 years on it and its still fine so whatever your talking about is bullshit to get people to buy the digitec one.. you talk about the warranty being voided WHY?? basically your telling me there gonna void the warranty if you don't use their own brand of 9v adapter what kind of scam is that? warranty is bullshit anyway.. how will they know what adapter was used?

@RcUniverseGuy ...believe me I have no benefit if people are buying Digitechs adapter or any other adapter which is out there. I am just aware of things like destroying units by using wrong adapters. Plus on many adapters the specs are documented wrong. So my goal is to make people aware that they are in terms or warranty only on the safe side if they do what the warranty regulations say - thats all. Lets face it I can give advice here I dont force or tell people what to do.

@Epidot335 Yes you can but you need to place it before in the signal chain. Actually there is a Cry Baby built-in all you need is an expression pedal to use the internal one....you can choose between 3 different wahs by the way

ralf one question, does the rp355 has the same effects than the rp55? or better can the distortions be modifyed to obtain the sound we look for? and the processor rp55 has an effect called sustainium, can that be found on rp355? would you recommend the rp355 instead? it has more to play with i guess. thanks

@viasi1 The higher you go in the RP series the more you get for your money. The next higher product will include all the features of the one below....it starts with the RP55...the RP90 has everything and more the 155 has more than the 90 and the 355 has more than the 255 which has more than the 155...etc etc

@pokemon777master Hi there...it is kind of hard to say what that is you should write or call a Digitech support team. It could be old batteries in case you use batteries or the wrong powersupply. Please use only the PS200R powersupply made by Digitech it is a DC 9V powersupply. Using other incorrect powersupplies can damage the unit.
Worst case you have a software problem and if you can get rid of this performing a factory reset you need to contact Digitech.

@demonwx10 It is very easy...plug the powersupply and then hold the store buttom and replug the powersupply....then this is followed by pressing some buttoms....I dont wroite it down here as I want you to read the manual (which you can download for free at the digitech homepage) to avoid any mistakes

@hector4295 I used only factory presets...so if you have the pedal use the preset for acoustic....use the middle pickup or if you use a strat some intermediate pickup position between bridge and middle pickups....in a 5 way switch position 2 and 4 works great
