@TheMusicEclipse : Agreed. Also, if it weren't for him, her fairy godmother (who Rumpel caused to burst into flames) would have still been alive and would have helped Ella so she wouldn't need to make a deal in the first place. You guys seem to be forgetting that little detail
@Tapepsi8389 Whose to say the fairy godmother didn't make a deal with Rumpelstiltskin too? She could have made a deal, the wand was the price, and when she refused he killed her then took it anyway.
He gives her good, honest advice here. She's the one who choses to ignore it. She got what she asked for - actions have consequences - trying to weasel out afterwards is dishonest. She seems very weak and opportunistic - get her prince and wealth and admiration, then refuses to pay the price. If you make a contact, read the small print first, and if someone warns you in advance, take it seriously, or pay the consequences. She does this to herself - that's the cautionary tale here.
Is he really the bad guy here? I mean he simply made a deal with her. He even told her there would be consequences. Seems to me he is evil and an opportunistic personally, however he doesn't do anything against anyone's will. Cinderella is a cautionary tale of 1) Making deals with Rumpelstiltskin and 2) Never agreeing to something without knowing the price. That is all just my opinion.
@YaHuWaHservant You got that right... somewhat! I't kinda like the ''deal with demons'' kind of thing here, where you sell your soul for whatever you might get in return.
The devil, or Rumpelstillskin, or whatever, tempt the man/woman, uses his/her desperation. But, yes, he doesn't take back their free will. I guess it's very open to a big philosophical debate here! ^_^
Robert Carlyle is absolutely AMAZING in this role.

Please Rumpel knew exactly how desperate she was to get out of that situation and he used it against her.....still makes him evil.

@ChevaliersEmeraude I just see Rumpelstiltskin as I see Crowley on Supernatural. Evil? Definitely. Evil because of the fact he makes deals? Nope.

@YaHuWaHservant exactly. Never agree to be born. To late then, cause you're born already.
