wing chun is a great system,it teaches u how to get ur opponent in a vulnerable position during counter attack, how to get in line when attacking when to attack, action is like the bruce lee movies reminded me of 'the enter the dragon' fight scene with the guards very good for streetfight.
@MrEvangelize Yes, there are ranking belts in Wing Chun just like in other martial arts like Judo or Karate. At Least, in the Netherlands there are. ;)
I assume you mean, what if someone tries to kick the balls of a Wing Chun practitioner? The very first exercise you learn in WC is the stance, where you bend your knees forward. You've never fight like that, but that's not the reason you do it. You practice that stance for that exact reason. To guard your groin. In WC, if someone tries to kick you in the balls, you use your knees to block his attack, or catch his ankle. From there....a simple twist, and *SNAP!* Ankle-break.
@TheBestMaegWanna bet? I watched these videos for two years now and i'm pretty good at blocking the punches and setting the moves up perfectly, You don't know shit so shut your mouth. If you set your MIND to it and learn it, it will happen, but if your use your MOUTH like you do, you wont gain a thing.
i like this guy, safety 1st! dont be a prick!!! i have studied tae kwon do for years and now that i think about it that style makes one to be a prick all rushed hard straight movements. ive also studied sin moo hapkido under grandmaster ji han jae, that style is much better. now i want to learn this wing chun style. ill try and learn from you! i appreciate your time and energy put into these mini lesson videos. thanks!
I have a 12 year old that does Wing Chun. So he tells me that Master Wong says "don't be a fucking prick". I thought wow what a great role model for the next generation of martial artist to look up to.
Is it me or is it intensifying with each new video? Man, to be a student at his facility would be like going to Disney for grown ups. Master Wong, thank you one thousand times and more. What I like the most is how everything ties into a real fight and keeping the mental aspect of self defense at all times. Anyone in Boston, MA that wants to partner up let me know.

about how long should we practice each excercise...because i have lots of time but i dont know how long to do each...should i do like 30 min of each everyday...or how long...so that i could be about to have good reactions?
its not like training for body building where you need to keep going till you "feel the burn" or else you achieve nothing
train as long as you feel is practical, most formal lessons in classes are usually around the 1hr mark which includes exercises and strectches.
remember, for people like Master Wong this is a lifestyle not a hobby. be it physical or mental he'd train from the moment he wakes untill he goes back to sleep,
@hot318 thank you so much for this...i have one more question...how do i get really really quick?...and how can i make my punches more effective(as in how to hit harder) with speed in them?..thank you
@ismael8977 I am not a master but i would say to start slow with a partner and go faster and faster over practice. And for the strength i would say just a normal work out for your arms like press ups, pull ups and maybe punching a punching bag or just punching in mid like shadow boxing or doing it with weights. Hope i helped.
sUm of you idiots ,kEep leaving stuPId coMMents..those are the people who are the priCks..taking his teachn as a joke..i bet if u try to fight MAster wong..u will be BAdLy hURT!!...so learn to stop speaking stupidity and liSten !!! dont talk stupid all the time!!

I disagree completely and not because i want to disagree with you but because all he is telling you is movement and nothing else. you learn much much more when you are taught by a master (sifu).
Master Wong, you're the man, thanks fro the lesson, I have been trying to learn the basic energy drill/ punch drill. I tried to learned it from Bruce Lee's video but was too fast for me.
berserkerhawk faggot needs to shut the fuck up, obviously u dnt know shit. newsflash different martial arts were made they didnt just pop up basically b4, people use to teach themselves martial arts, their own way of fighting. ur stupid boxing jab is no match 4 what u call the silly wrist slaps, wing chung is not that hard, i find it impossible to hurt urself in wing chung so if i were u i wont listen to this bitch and do what u can to help u improve urself
I've been a martial artist for 28yrs. I almost never go on the net for just the reason I see here. What are you talking about? People can teach themselves MA. ARE YOU ON DRUGS? Rent some BJJ videos that show you up to blue belt then jump on the floor with a real blue belt. Try it. Learn Chi sau from a video then step to student who understands forward pressure and centerline theory. Muay Thai, Kung fu, Karate, Wrestling all derive from understanding attack angles, sensitivity and timing. Part 1
Go argue this with any BJJ dojo that an at home video training session is anywhere close to an in-dojo training session. I'd love to see evidence of a "self taught blue belt" beating a "officially taught blue belt" please.
you may be right but there are a lot of people that dont live near any dojos or ma classes so this is the best thay can learn from an if you train hard enough they may well beat a 'dojo' taught.
Working out daily and keeping situational awareness is infinitely better than learning from this video.
This video is "wing chun for wing chun students". A fight goes anything but how you invisioned. In ten years of fighting, I've never had my hand "smacked" away by anybody, someone doing chinese, american, or japanese fighting styles. Let alone fighting someone with his hands positioned at the middle of his chest and not protecting his head...I'd LOVE that!
I'd like to at least respond to your comment, but I can't even read it. If Wing Chun isn't hard, it's not worth learning. Sorry if I believe dedicating yourself to more difficult and challenging and alive training can be more rewarding than woofing down cheetos while you watch "How to defend yourself against a Gun, volume 5!~Wing Chun edition."
im trying to self teach my self Martial Arts by these kind of videos and by watching UFC. I dont need to be a pro but i just wanna learn some tips and things like that so it can be useful to me in the future. I was wondering if you can post some videos on how to self train. Please respond back

you can't "teach" yourself martial arts. I hate to discourage you, but here's what you need to do.
Workout - I'm not the fittest by any means, but please, build up some muscle before considering any fight. Gym, cardio, weight lifting, nutrition.
Find the MA that is right for you
overly complex MAs like Wing Chun will -hurt- you more than help you. A good boxing jab is a thousand times more valuable than this silly wrist slapping.
whoa whoa what the fuck...?! How do martial arts got that way in the first place...? I'm making assumptions but I'm pretty sure even a 'whitey' martial arts aficinado like you would appreciate fighting legends like Chuck Norris. You know who he respects...? Bruce Lee.. What about Bruce Lee's sensei...? A Wing Chun Master you little fucker...!!!
"Little Fucker"? "Whitey"? Some intelligence you have!
Bruce Lee said wing chun was flawed, why would he develop JKD if it wasn't?
Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee, what is their professional fight record?
Bruce Lee admitted to not only being on several performance enhancing drugs, anabolic steroids for one thing (Linda Lee believes its what killed him FYI). So you make racist comments and argue about two prolific Hollywood "Martial Artists" who have virtually zero accounted combat wins. Grow up.
youre right. but you dont know all martial arts, and you dont know every wing chun stile.
there are things who are realy valuable, but pretty hard to find it ;)
everybody who gave you a bad rating, is an ignorant. a boxing jab is realy quit powerfull, and yes thsi wrist slapping is silly, BUT there are things which are thousand times better then silly boxing. believe me
i disagree with the wrist slapping coment about it being silly- its used to block without harming yourself and so that u dnt burn as much energy compared to the hard blocks found in most styles of Karate :)
@Johnstar78 sorry i didnt explain my argument clearly, i know its a form of Kung Fu, i mentioned Karate as reference for its heavily physical blocks. I'm also unsure how this strengthens your wrists, it's a reaction drill, well thats what i pulled from this video
Not only are you funny, you are also very good at what you do. I learn so much by watching your videos. I want to taste your cup of tea. I wish you could visit California. You are an awsome teacher.
Ha man got to say, you are good! I like the way, you put it across, bit, by bit, by bit.
You have put a lot of work into this, Thanks a lot for the time.
My Wing Chun teacher always says, it;s all about economy of movement, let the other guy do the hard work, we just walk away with the prize!!!! they on their back! Opps
yeah I know, in jkd they use this drills alot more, in my wing chun trainings I also never drilled this pak sau, kwan sau en then again pak sau and then punch.
But the way master wong is explaining it with the switch in it, is usefull.
I would like to sparr and train w someone who studies Wing chun in Chicago. I study and teach Ninjutsu I think wing chun might be pretty kool

whoa whoa what the fuck...?!
CYRUSsoreal1987 2 years ago
"Little Fucker"? "Whitey"? Some intelligence you have!
Bruce Lee said wing chun was flawed, why would he develop JKD if it wasn't?
Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee, what is their professional fight record?
Bruce Lee admitted to not only being on several performance enhancing drugs, anabolic steroids for one thing (Linda Lee believes its what killed him FYI). So you make racist comments and argue about two prolific Hollywood "Martial Artists" who have virtually zero accounted combat wins. Grow up.

@berserkerhawk
youre right. but you dont know all martial arts, and you dont know every wing chun stile.
there are things who are realy valuable, but pretty hard to find it ;)
everybody who gave you a bad rating, is an ignorant. a boxing jab is realy quit powerfull, and yes thsi wrist slapping is silly, BUT there are things which are thousand times better then silly boxing. believe me

i disagree with the wrist slapping coment about it being silly- its used to block without harming yourself and so that u dnt burn as much energy compared to the hard blocks found in most styles of Karate :)

Psst its kung fu and its done to streangthen your wrists lol
Johnstar78 2 years ago
@Johnstar78 sorry i didnt explain my argument clearly, i know its a form of Kung Fu, i mentioned Karate as reference for its heavily physical blocks. I'm also unsure how this strengthens your wrists, it's a reaction drill, well thats what i pulled from this video

Opps
