Silence is perfectly allright when you're face to face because you have body language, but on the phone, isn't it a little different? You can't SEE the other person when you're on the phone, so silence is just... silence. What about coming up with things to say when you're on the phone?

@enkidu898 I really agree to this because I talk on the phone and have the same problem and thought that they just addressed silence when your face to face. they didn't really focus on the phone silence problem. Try holding phone for a minute or two in silence. It is much different than when you are there together

I too am in a similar situation, I live on Westcoast Canada, in Vancouver, and he lives in New York, we met over World of Warcraft and have since moved our relationship onto msn (chatting and webcam) and phone, we try to keep things alive by staying in contact as much as possible, by sending little texts and messages during the day, and we plan on meeting each other this summer, thanks for the video :)

Hey I know this comment was a year ago. I'm curious to ask, are you both together still?. I'm in a LD relationship (10months currently), we met on Second Life (LOL i know) we took it slow. I'm in Southern California, He's in Alberta Canada. We are planning to meet this September. :0). We talk everyday and we both talk to eachothers family.

well unfortunately for us things did not go as planned, our plans to meet up kept falling through, and when fall came he went to university and ended up meeting someone a couple months in, we discussed it and decided it was best to put things aside and pursue our current lives and if in 4 years we are single and we are done our schooling we plan to meet up and try again, we still talk, and I found someone here to, so not the ideal happy ending but still happy :) it was worth every second :)

I too am in a similar situation only my true love is in Canada in a relationship with a man who she hasn't been "in love" with for years. The only problem is that she has 2 young children that make it difficult for her to just up and leave to be with me. Unfortunately I have situations that will make it ver, very dificult for me to cross the border to visit her. Dan & Jennifer do you have any advice for me on this issue.
