Isn't this just one of Earth's climate "episodes"? For every few thousand years doesn't the average temperature rise and decline drastically and we are just experiencing one of those natural increases? Greenhouse gas and CO2 is by no means good for our planet, but if those chemicals and substances subsided the Earth would still continue to heat along with the rest of the solar system.
It would heat up slower though, which buys us time. We badly need more time, b/c once the tipping point is reached, this planet will rapidly go to hell in a handbasket. Once the oceans can't absorb any more CO2 it will accumulate in the atmosphere at a much greater rate. Forests will die due to climate change & devastating forest fires will release massive CO2. The marine phytoplankton, which absorbs more CO2 than all land plants, will also die. It's a deadly feedback loop.

Earth, not the solar system. I'm not denying that there are non-anthropogenic factors behind the temperature increase, but there is also no denying that our CO2 emissions also factor into it. We first need to drastically reduce our ghg emissions, and then we can try and figure out ways to preserve the current climate if the temperatures are still rising at an alarming rate. We have always altered our environment to best serve our needs. Geoengineering is the logical next step.

People have this inane idea that natural equals good, but not everything natural is good for you. Besides, we need to wean ourselves off of our current energy sources anyway, since fossil fuels are going to be depleted in a few decades. If we don't have viable alternatives by then, the entire global economy is going to break down. No more fuel. No more transportation. No more plastic. WHAT? There is little to NO influence CO2 has on climate temperatures. This is scientific fact. Period. Stop the propaganda, the politics, the lies & deception. It is ridiculous the level of magnetite of deception that has been infiltrated upon the human race. If CO2 does have a correlation with climate temperatures, its the fact that it is a PRODUCT of temperature change, not the other way round as shown in their own ice core samples.

The whole solar system is undergoing "global warming", including Mars, Jupiter and Pluto (this proof is however from Nasa's findings if you dare to believe them). Greenhouse gas and CO2 is by no means good for our planet, but if those chemicals and substances subsided the Earth would still continue to heat along with the rest of the solar system.

It would heat up slower though, which buys us time. We badly need more time, b/c once the tipping point is reached, this planet will rapidly go to hell in a handbasket. Once the oceans can't absorb any more CO2 it will accumulate in the atmosphere at a much greater rate. Forests will die due to climate change & devastating forest fires will release massive CO2. The marine phytoplankton, which absorbs more CO2 than all land plants, will also die. It's a deadly feedback loop.

The solar system is heating at a constant rate, and scientists believe it has been for a very long time. Mars' ice caps have started melting in time with our own. Mars has warmed by about 0.5C since the 1970s. This is similar to the warming experienced on Earth over approximately the same period.

Earth, not the solar system. I'm not denying that there are non-anthropogenic factors behind the temperature increase, but there is also no denying that our CO2 emissions also factor into it. We first need to drastically reduce our ghg emissions, and then we can try and figure out ways to preserve the current climate if the temperatures are still rising at an alarming rate. We have always altered our environment to best serve our needs. Geoengineering is the logical next step.

What does it matter if natural factors contribute to GW? Fact is that we're screwed if it continues at this rate. People have this inane idea that natural equals good, but not everything natural is good for you. We have a vested interest to try and minimize the effects of GW, and since we are definitely contributing to it, no matter to which degree, we need to stop doing that. You might as well say that pond water is naturally dirty, so we might as well use ponds as garbage disposals.

Besides, we need to wean ourselves off of our current energy sources anyway, since fossil fuels are going to be depleted in a few decades. If we don't have viable alternatives by then, the entire global economy is going to break down. No more fuel. No more transportation. No more plastic. It's utter madness to burn our limited fossil fuel so that morbidly obese people can drive around town without ever having to use their legs. Man-made GW or not, things need to change in any case.
