What New Approach accomplished in 2008 sort of got pushed aside because of what Sea The Stars accomplished in 2009. Which is a real shame, because make no mistake, this was a class thoroughbred!! If not for STS, people would've been talking about New Approach for a long, long time. IMO.
@GBeret83 If New Approach had stayed in training we would have seen STS forced to run flat out for more than his signature 150 yard charge. There wouldn't have been a safe track record on the planet.
@tigerboy1966, I've always said if Jim Bolger had kept New Approach in training as a 4yr.old in 2009 that he would've been the toughest horse that STS would've faced that year. Especially in those 10f races. I don't know if New Approach would've beaten STS or not? But I think he would've pushed STS to a lot tougher extremes than Delegator, Fame and Glory, Rip Van Winkle, Conduit, Mastercraftsman, Youmzain, or any of the others that STS beat did. TJMO.
love New Approach, i think he will always be my favourite, although i rate him just below Zarkava and Sea the stars, I believe he was the only horse in the world who could have gave Zarkava a race in the Arc last year, if he turned up on his champion stakes form. We bit of luck and the nose goes the other way in the guineas and he dosent get injured after the derby, he would have won the triple crown, unbeatable 2yo who would have destroyed Sea The Stars at 2, screamin for a trip in the dewhurst

Personally, i think he would have won the BCC in 2008 if he went there. He was the best horse this year overall and got better throughout the year.
