Actually. Why restrict your self to Apple products. You could buy a second hand Tablet PC from ebay and do exactly the same. Of course you need a digitzer pen, as you would with the Axiotron Modbook but it would be still be a far more convenient interface than that of a traditional monitor. And even cheaper. An old Toshiba tablet would probably set you back £300.00 or so.
If you have an older mac book knocking about you could get it converted to a tablet form factor by axiotron for $900.00 dollars. You could then use the free EOS Utility on that as its still a fully fledged macbook. This gives you you all portability of an ipad with the EOS functionality for a reasonable price. Providing that you already have a macbook that want to sacrifice of course.
yes. it's October 2010. hurry up and develop this app! i would be happy even if it just showed what i saw when i looked at the LCD back on my 5d. a great app that would allow clients/partners/make up artists etc to see more detailed photos as i am concentrating on framing/posing. and in correct colour space, almost seeing what the final print would look like. camera and ipad on beach shoot GOOD. camera/laptop/ipad on beach shoot NOT GOOD.
thanks so much for taking your time into making this video..i have an ipad and a t2i as well and would love to be able to see what im recording on the gorgeous display
@MichaelSeneschal Not quite... DSLR Remote requires that you put a computer between the camera and the iPhone/iPad, (I'm also not sure if they have rezed it up to iPad screen size yet).
of course, they are DOING that so that you can look at the image wirelessly, which, as cool as that WOULD be is not completely necessary.
So my proposal is to DROP the computer, which face it... would be REALLY cumbersome in the field, and just WIRE the iPad to the side of the camera with a short USB cable.
just a thought- if you set this up and then use the airdisplay app to use the ipad as a second monitor you'd get the ipad as a video monitor? it might be quite slow but the focus option alone would be ace!
Be aware, that if you trip on the cable, the camera wont connect anymore! I've let it repair twice, now i've gave up on it. Someone should make a bracket for it as fot the 1D serieus
It's almost 2012 - still no app. Sigh.
