@KTD82291 hottest =/= best. kendrick had one of the best musical pieces of 2011 but he ain't as skilled as crooked, he just got more charisma and makes powerful music. but as far as skills go, crooked's above at least 80% of the cats to ever touch a mic. his lack in body of work is what keeps him away from bein' mentioned with the greatest figures in hip hop imo.

Well skill is hard to define. For example, lyricism..... if you compare two lyricists, it's hard to decide who is lyrically superior because it varies in many different directions. Though Crooked is definitely one of the more skilled MCs and he has one of the sickest flows I've heard.

I think Kendrick is the best rapper CURRENTLY, simply because he released the best album of the year, hands down.
Crooked seriously has one of the sickest flows that I've heard, and there's one verse he did (I forgot the name of the song), and I thought it was the hottest verse of the year. Though because of how complex Ras Kass is, he's able to outshine Canibus, who is arguably the most lyrical MC. I just think he's slightly above, and arguably the most underrated.

while i don't want to look as if i'm hating on eminem here, his dickriders are some of the most annoying ppl i've met...
there was this one time when i said i wasn't a fan to this guy playing him loud on his phone and him and the others around us said he was one of the best rappers ever and stuff. when they asked me my fave rappers and i gave a few examples, they hadn't even heard of most of them (Rakim, KRS-One, Nas, AZ, RA the Rugged Man, GZA, Canibus, Big L, Pun, Kane...the list goes on)

the point i'm trying to make with this story is that while i'm *not* going to hate on fans of Eminem for liking him or hate on Em for his crossover success, it's true that most ppl i know who give him the no. 1 rapper spot are middle-class Abercrombie and Fitch-wearing teens and preteens who are not actually fans of hip-hop...having an opinion is not a crime in itself, but I think that ppl should be prepared to make an *informed* decision before making judgements like "one of the best rappers"

B. I like several non-black rappers. Not as many as black, but that's because there are more black rappers anyway so there's logically going to me more talented black rappers than any other ethnicity by extension. Anyway, why would I mention Pun or R.A. if i was a racist black guy?

I respect alot of your opinions...they are all very solid....but Eminem lyrically is phenomenal, delivery is stern....and yes he did catch a break....but most "Great" Rappers caught a break somewhere with their marketing. Big Pun is in my top 3 rappers, on a good day #1 depending on my feel....but Em is definitely top 10 MATERIAL....which is all debatable anyway. The point i'm getting at is that i am a true fan of hip hop....I have been for many years now.
