Very unusual indeed... poor thing probally scared of the fact that you are pking at her with a stick... but if she was defensive before that then theres must be something wrong with the way you are taking care of her... or she is just a bitch,
ALL OF YOU ARE MORONS, he only touched it three times and was testing it's mood. Poking it is when you jab it continuously like 10 to 25 times and more. Seriously, think before you guys comment for goodness sakes.
dooshbag pokes spider with knitting needle, spider who cant actually talk feels the need to express its negativity towards being poked......not unusual
You're right that this is unusual behavior for a smithi, are you sure of the species? B auratum is a bit more jumpy than smithi and they are very similar overall. I can't tell for sure from your video, although from what I can see this does indeed appear to be a smithi. But nice female anyway
They have a lot of sensitive spots. If you poke it with a stick like that its going to get defensive. Your supposed to lightly brush it's back legs when trying to hold it so it knows your there. I'm not surprised she got mad.
take her out of the enclosure (DO NOT use your bare hands) leave her for a minute and see if she is still aggressive. if that fails give her something to eat.
She/He was probably in a bad mood, probably in the next couple days she'll be much calmer. Also if you want to feel out your tarantula, use a paint brush.
what a douche. stop tormenting that T and stressing it the fuck out.

how bout i hit you with a yard stick? then we'll see if that pisses you off?
lb4liife 7 months ago
if you have had your tarantula just moved it was a natural response... brachys tend to be aggresive untill they get used to the new environment

If I started prodding a stick into your face, I think you'd soon get pissed off

it isn't unusual..!
you don't have to poke her..just let her live peacefully!
those animals have characters like we, if she don't like it, you shouldn't do it, and NOT do it again and again, to show it on youtube...
