man this car is sick, i have big brake problems on my savage x 4.1, i wana put a 4.6 in there too, don't no if its worth it though. need help on the brakes though. do you no if those fibreglass brakes work?
@3aaadddzzz0, I run the 87150 stainless steel dual brake kit on mine, works great and only $16.99 on towerhobbies. Another tip is to use NiMh batteries, they give more power to the servo than alkaline, which gives you more braking power.
There's no huge reason to change engines until you wear out the 4.1. The 4.6 is definitely faster than the F4.1 and it's an easy bolt-in upgrade.
@strykerstruck just ordered the dual fiberglass brakes man! can't wait for those to come! oh yeah i need a more powerful brake servo and throttle as well as a more powerful steering servo, any suggestions? and thanks for the help much appreciated.
@ the gold ring in the throttle/ brake servo can prevent your brakes from fully working, ive cut a grove in mine and the brake now moves freely without the throttle servo stopping it, theres some how to vids of how to do it... called brake mod
That could be a lot of different things... idle set too low, bad glow plug, old fuel, low compression, exhaust problems. Most likely it just needs the carb adjusted properly. Try setting it back to the settings in the instruction manual. If that doesn't work, see if your local hobby shop can help you get it tuned.
@cruz4me dude, all it is, is your low needle needs to be flush with the casing, and the high end needle needs to be at least 2 mil in, this gives a SICK ass tune, but setting them to factory settings is also a good idea then just adjust the high needle, don't need to bother with the low, only a lil 1/16 tweak maybe clockwise after its been reset.
The plastic spur gears should last at least a gallon. If not, adjust your gear mesh per the instruction manual. Check to make sure that all of your chassis screws that hold the engine plate are still there. Check for a cracked engine plate.
my spur lasted way longer than a gallon, thats if your riding it hard. make sure its tight, cuz if its too loose it'll slipp too much and be gone before you know it. tighten it all the way and just loosen it 1/4. my rule is tight it to where it gets tight. thats it. not too tight
A small side swipe from my savvy xl(low speed)distroyed a rusler VXL at top speed and scrached the HPI sign off my polished exhust not even the lipo battery suvived in the rusler it hit and went up about 20m then it was all gravity spew no footage of it IT WAS GOLD he was biggin ug traxxis at the time

i'm geting myself the rear exast cuz it pisses me of that the oil and junk from the exast get all over the brakes and great video thanx 4 the tip about the thing between the fuel tank and car
Lol, you made yourself a savage X 4.6 before it even came out! I got the 4.6.. Ugh had so many problems with the engine.. but most of it is my fault, i dont blame the truck at all. and somehow i already bent the chassis right beside the fuel tank with less then 1 gallon threw it.. sad huh? I didnt think I was that a horrible driver XD. Like i said I blame NOTHING on the truck all me. Great truck.. love it.
Put an o-ring around the two bars that go to the front bumper. That will keep the bars from spreading apart and prevent the pins from accidentally sliding out. Most hardware stores have an assortment of o-rings, I think you need one about 2" in diameter.
i use the simoniz foaming tire cleaner and spray it all over then let it sit and wipe it of comes out good as new and u dont have to worry about it screwing up any electrical stuff.
went through brake pads like a mad dog, even went through steel plate ones quick as hell, now i have a single disc, which is as thick as 3 of the savX4.6 ones combied, works greatest, longest lasting of em all so far
i use RPM arms and skid plate, but then i wanna try that low cg chassis plates from integy, the finned ones.
Also my dogbones literally bent, as in twisted, the spikes at the ends arent aligned with respect to each other anymore
i bought a stainless steel full dual disc brake system from hpi, wearing the stock ones out then putting those in i cant wait, the stock ones suck ass. i got the savage x 4.6.
nice savage, i also got a savage x, along with a jammin x1 crt, revo 3.3 and axail ax 10, savages are aawesome!! ohh and a micro t,
and by the way, crazymazy u do not need heavy duty cupjoints and dog bones!! i got the aluminum cases on mine with the spider gears and every thing work perfect!
mine is not turned perfectly yet because i've only finished the break in about a week ago and havn't had time to tune it but it will reach a good 50 55 or 60mph yea i don't really now how fast it will go but i know its fast. Accually i know it will touch 90KMH as opposed to 80 or 75
Mine came with my savagex (I live In Korea) so getting an O.S might be a problem but ask your local hobby shop owner about it and if he dosn't know about it go online and search O.S Max-30vg 5.0 rc engine.
i know what you mean about the o.s engine now since you told me ive looked it up and it looks heaps better then anything on the market at the moment!am gona get an x ss without an engine the put one in!!! how fast is yours?
my savage 4.6 is a fucken monster, all i did was put in a all metal gear servo because the stock ones arent that strong (broke it on the first day i had it)and thats all i had to do and i beat the living shit out of it and it still runs and drives like new... best investment ever
no you dont need it unless you want to do like 30 foot triple backflips and land it like upside down. lol but if ur thinking about buying one its the best thing for the money.
SAVAGE X is a beast. got a 4.6 savage X SS and i abused it many times and hell its about time to do some mods on the shocks. any suggestion? Nice Video mate.
Nice to hear a lot of the old Savage parts are better than the newer Savage X parts... my mate has just bought a Savage X and my tired old Savage 25 was feeling a bit inferior :(
I wish I took the time to browse YouTube for videos like this before I bought my T-Maxx 2.5. Nothing against the T-Maxx and all but I like 1/8 scale MTs better and I also like the Savage design over the T-Maxx.
im thinking of buying a savage now because it seem its more better that a revo no offence for the people that has a revo im just saying but how much does it cost for a savage x
besides that i see u have the integy hdmotor plate, u should get the hd tvp 6mm chassi splates + integy alloy shassis braces with an axial .32 runnin on a 3speed tranny..
then ur savvy will be pretty much untouchable..
and m surprised ur stock shocks lasted u over 8 gallons, lol mine (on in the front) gave out at the end of the 2nd gallon..
I just got mine from trading an old laptop (Savage 25 the guy did not needed it anymore) it had the chassis upgrade and dual disks brakes but no engine there for im looking for one o i forgot and it had costom new painted wheels and body too LOL.
forget the .30 only 3hp the z 28r is great 3.81 hp hmm if you want a high quality cheaper engine with a bunch of power id drop in a sh m28p3 3.6hp nice engines i like mine alot i have a z 28 also and thats a nice engine but ive seen the os 30 if you want bigger id go to a sts .30 modded ... ya
wow you know neither of you know what your talking about omg ok you could fit it with maybe minor mods yes but i wouldnt bet on it dropping directly into a smaller scale truck
i dont no if u have snow where u live but if u do have u driven the truck thru the snow with thos tires? if so are they good trackshen in snow? i wanna buy one of thos trucks and put my homeade rc plow on it (just for fun ) and plow the driveway in the winter have a lil fun ya know

if they keep breaking then your not putting your motor back in line.
if you add metal then your just gonna break something even deeper.
