I lived in Los Angeles for a period of time and I have to say that I REALLY like this video. I've walked along Wilshire Blvd at night in Beverly Hills and seen homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk in front of Cartier. Those that have never been there can't possibly appreciate how much it's a city of contrasts.
Soooo good vid! Perfectly showing the social distinctions in L.A. and the different quaters and their distinctions and characters. I was in L.A. last year and I enjoyed it a lot and the nice and warm weather there. But it's always a different story if you don't have to live there. I think it's not always nice to live around this L.A. area, it's soooo HUGE.
mexicans have taken over. it's not that it's sooo huge. l.a. hasn't grown appreciably in the last 40 years. the difference b/t then and now is most of the whites have been replaced by shiftless mexicans. the main difference i've seen b/t then and now is litter and trash in the parks, graffiti everywhere. it's not pretty. shiftless mexicans strolling downtown and through the parks. they're everywhere. schools, hospitals, streets, causing crime and intimidating whites. goodbye to a once great city.
Thank you so much for your kind explanation, dale1966gto. Well, I was just at the tourist places in L.A., so I was not quite aware of all this, but I surely noticed all these mexicans and the many hideous and grungy places outside downtown. But I loved Manhattan Beach, Venice Beach, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood and Santa Monica, even though there were a lot of homeless folks living on the parc benches. Very sad for me to see. But it's not better here in Germany.
you traveled to the areas of the city that are still predominately white. don't even break down in any part of east l.a..
there will still be parts of l.a. that are pretty - and predominately white - for a few more years to come. slowly, but surely, mexicans are taking over the state. services paid out for hospitals and schools have already bankrupted the state. as soon ago as the 60's ca. was the richest state. now it's broke. it's not scapegoating, it's fact. they broke the state.
You seem to resign. Well, that's not what you desreve. I always knew the Americans as proud of their nation and hard working, straight, true and kind. I appreciate the American way of life and your nation has so much values. We have a problem with foreigners in Germany as well. Our kids in school don't learn enough, because the foreign folks from Turkey, Greece, and so on... block the lessons, because they don't even speak our language. And it's hard to find the right place for your home as well
resign.... well, yes. services to illegals have bankrupted the damn state and the taxpayer who doesn't even live in calif. is going to have to bail them out. if it were a one-time thing, then ok. but in less than a year, they'll be broke again. the problem should have been nipped around 30-40 years ago. the same thing will happen to germany, too. it's a matter of checks and balances. foreigners not putting in what they're taking out. besides way over half the crime in the state is by latinos.

There are no shots of Compton on this video, it was shot entirely in North East LA. Eagle Rock, Highland Park, Atwater and Echo Park to McArther Park

Did the same to me...could almost reach out and touch it.
Funny thing, you can never truly appreciate L.A. until you leave it...ESPECIALLY if you're a native.
